Simms Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
In all fairness, I would need to try this place out on a day that is not Valentine's Day. That being said, though, this restaurant seemed ill prepared for such a busy night. I made my reservation over 2 weeks before on Open Table, hoping this would assure us a good table at our 8:00 reservation time. We got there at 7:45 and were seated around 8:15. There were lots of customers waiting to be seated while empty tables were everywhere in the lounge area. The first table we received was very awkward as it was positioned behind another table that was against the window. This made it so that I was either seated in the very busy aisle with people running behind me the whole time, or I was practically in the lap of the other table, not ideal. To their credit, the hostess gave us another table fairly quickly, it was in the lounge area where all it needed was the silverware (at least 5 other tables in this area could have been used if they had the silverware placed). Once seated at a comfortable table, our server was very nice and helpful. My date ordered filet medium well, I ordered the porterhouse medium rare. We also got the mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The bread they serve to each person was some of the best bread I have ever had in my life! The filet was very thick and was not butterflied, so when we cut into it, it was very rare. We sent it back to be cooked some more, but when it came back, it still wasn't cooked to medium well. We cut it up ourselves and sent it back again so that it could finally be cooked properly. The porterhouse was very good as was the mashed and mac (the mashed was awesome, the cheese on the mac was a little runny). The filet finally came back at the right temp and was very good. We ordered the bread pudding, which was excellent. They took the dessert off the bill due to the problems with the filet. As stated, this was a very busy night and I hope to give them a try when they are not so overwhelmed with customers.
Took forever to get our food when food came out food was cold waitress did not want to do anything about it took forever to get to desert eight people ordered seven people got food eighth person took another 15 minutes to get food after we complained they decided to comp the eighth person’s meal overall very bad experience
Simms has two personalities. THe bar area is hip and welcoming, and the happy hour menu can't be beat for price or quality. The restaurant area, on the other hand, feels more formal, the menu is expensive, and the service is very, very good, even if the quality of the ingredients isn't always perfect. Simms is known for its meats, and I would expect a little better quality in some of its staples, like the prime rib, but I'm a picky steak eater and don't like lots of marbling on my plate if it would have been easy to carve out. You can get away with about $15 for apps and a drink at the bar, but a dinner for a couple in the dining room is going to approach $150 all said and done. BTW, the VIEW is the best in town-- be sure to request a table by the window in your reservation.
I had not been to Simms Steakhouse since it was still Simms Landing, and it was for brunch the last time we were there. I read some of the reviews before I made our reservations for dinner this time, which was for an early Valentines day dinner with my wife.I was a little worried that things would not be so great judging from some of the reviews. We were very pleased with the whole experience, the prime rib special was done to order, tasted wonderful and is a good value. Our server was a very pleasant and attentive young lady. The restaurant started to get more crowded as it got a little more into the dinner hour, but never too loud. There were also other tables with small children, but even they were well behaved, a credit to their parents.I guess every day can be different depending on the customers and other variables, but the only thing that went wrong for us was that the "doggy bag" that our waitress said we could take with us somehow disappeared, but no big deal!We will not hesitate to suggest this place to others,we will be back.
Great place for Sunday brunch. Food was above par (except carved sirloin was cold) - large variety, well seasoned, much better than some buffets where all dishes seem to tend to one one flavor. Service was super (except no spoon brought with 'coffee with cream'). And the view is still phenomenal!
We went to Sunday Brunch for my husband’s 40th birthday. The food was excellent, the waitstaff was incredible and the restaurant itself is immaculate.
It was a little loud, but that’s to be expected. I totally recommend Simms for Sunday Brunch!!
Definitely will return!!
My friend and I had an outstanding meal and really enjoyed our evening. Both the prime rib and lamb were perfectly prepared. We split the house salad and loved it. We have fond memories of good times at Simm's Landing and now we share a great experience at Simm's Steakhouse.
Simms is a much better steakhouse than brunch location. Most of the food was mediocre and the service was lacking for the caliber of restaurant Simms is known to be. Dinners have always been much better and worth the time if you are looking to get out of Denver or enjoy something more than front range casual.
I was really disappointed with the food at this location. We ordered the crab cake and it's was cold and runny. The steaks had no flavor at all. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes that were cold and had a horrible taste. Considering how much are meal was. I was hoping for a better quality of food. Definitely would not recommend this location for dinner.
Three of us were celebrating a birthday. Each of us ordered a different meal, and each of us was delighted by our meal. We are members of Landry Select Club so had a $25 birthday gift certificate from Simms Steakhouse plus another $25 certificate they applied (earned from past meals). I highly recommend you join the Club and enjoy a lovely evening! Our waiter was Al, and he was professional, non-intrusive and very polite--we enjoyed his service!
Great Sunday brunch. Excellent food and good selection. The Eggs Benedict and omlet bar was very good. The peel and eat shrimp were great. Service was also very good. Coffee was filled several times. The mimosas were inexpensive and good. All around a good experience.
way over priced.
Everything was an add on. $9 for onion soup?
double rum and coke was like a single.
wait staff was great,
parking while complimentary for the evening was understaffed. Why can the valet park at the bottom. and customers park at the 2nd level.
Some what disappointed in the service the waiter was slow and in this case unacceptable as there were only 5 tables seated. The Caesar dressing was totally over bearing with anchovies and the buffet was old the food was drying out and the egg chef was hard to find. For 50 a piece I didn't feel the price was justified for the lack of service and poor meal.
It was great. Christmas was a very busy time for the staff, who were working extra hard to accommodate their customers. They had forgotten one add-on steak complement, which they corrected immediately. Then the manager came to our table to personally apologize, and offered to comp our desserts. We would go back in a heartbeat. The ambience was perfect...warm and comfortable, with a great city view.
