East is East Silk n' Spice - West Broadway
Just like the Dhabbas of the the Silk Route, East is East is home to everyone. Artists, musicians, minstrels and youth eat next to business men, politicians and professionals. Come and experience the mystery and vibrancy of the east, right here in Vancouver.
Great food, live music and service!
Great interior, entertainment, service and most importantly super tasty food!
Yummy Indian food and great chai tea ! Love the beautiful decoration and calmness vibe ❤️👍!
Love the live music!
The food was fantastic, and the live band with traditional music really set the ambiance. The feast is a great way to try lots of different options, but the rolls are also delicious. The rolls are also tasty on the second day as leftovers.
Loved the options for vegan and my daughter would have a meat entree with same options. Fantastic tea and a great time. Great place to eat !
It would have been 4 or 5 stars all the way but we were seated by the door and so many delivery people in and out made it a glacial experience. They should also bring you a knife without asking when you have the roti as cutting it with a fork is a pain.
This is my and my gals favorite place to go.
The food is over thr top, we like everything..I have the waitress choose for me..its a bit of a surprise but always over thr top delicious.
The ice cream with rose water is a perfect way to end the experince.
Cant wait to go again.
East is East never fails to deliver. The food is outstanding...so flavorful and satisfying. Our server was attentive and very friendly. We celebrated my sister's birthday and had a fabulous time.
Always a solid pick when going out for dinner. Good service and good food.
Fourth time there, and fourth time excellent
After living in Vancouver for over 10 years and turning into a total foodie, this is till one of my favorite restaurants!
The new décor is absolutely stunning, but the restaurant managed to keep its warm, cozy and relaxing feel.
I always walk out of there very happy after a delicious meal and great time!
Amazing food. Great ambience and decor. Felt like I was in Spain or somewhere in Europe.
Overpriced food that tastes mediocre at best. Definitely tastier and more cost friendly before covid hit. Don't get tricked by their menu shown on the wooden pillar by the cashier - the prices listed are for take-out only which is not noted to customers who plan on dine-in. You'll get a sticker shock once you receive the real menu.
I have the service 3/5 as well since the attendants were quite attentive but when asked about what they would recommend, they pretty went for expensive items only and didn't bother describing the taste and why its recommended. Feels like they are on some alternative motive (profit driven).
Great food as always. Felt welcome. They respect social distancing
Love all the food, would wish for chai tea non cafenaited option (roibos?) Was too wired from green tea. Love it though. Hope to return soon.
Food was delicious. It was nice and quiet. Beautiful decor. Food came out at a perfect amount of time
Love the live music but wish it went a little later as it is hard to get a table earlier. Great service from lovely staff, a little pricey.
I have eaten here a number of times. It never disappoints. Fresh and tasty food served to perfection. Nice room especially during this Covid time - tables are spaced out very well, ceilings high and often door open for fresh air circulating. Music in the evening just adds to the whole experience and it feels luxurious to hear live music. The staff here are as awesome as the food. They are super friendly, efficient, polite, knowledgeable and very gracious. Staff are outstanding. It feels sometimes that Covid has given license for poor customer service and I'm pretty tired of it. East is East is a shining example of what dining out should be. 5 stars for the whole team here!
Our order was rushed and it felt like they wanted to do as many tables as possible in the evening
Despite ordering different plates to taste it all arrived at once and after 20 min we were done ...
Some food arrived cold
Too expensive for what you get
The lamb is good but you get three pieces (small cubes) for 18$ ... disappointing
The best about this place is the live music which unfortunately has nothing to do with the restaurant
Quality needs to step up or prices need go down
The dining room is beautiful and unique. I absolutely love the vibe of this space. Very warm and inviting. Laid back feel with beautiful live music. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Delicious and flavourful food with a nice spice level. A great place for a first date or a celebration of any kind.
We, just two of us, went to celebrate my Birthday. Our wish list was short: great music, warm atmosphere and delicious food.
We love the food, atmosphere, music and people!!
Our third visit here. The food is quite good. Will likely return again.
The restaurant was well spaced between tables. The food and service was as fantastic as it always is. The band was loud as per usual but the music quite enjoyable.
Great food great service great price great everything I will go here again!!
We chose this location for my mothers birthday on September 26th, 2020. Our server Lana was awesome. Everything was perfect. Lana was kind, courteous and also patient with my elderly mother and aunt. Thanks so much! :) I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
stunning amazing love it fantastic delicious perfect
Enjoyed the decor and ambience and the food exceeded expectations. Great value.
Atmosphere and food good. A bit pricey and table times are limited to 90 min which put a bit of pressure on our birthday party. Which reminds me, they charged $12 to plate a cake we brought. $12!!! That's crazy.
Overall, an excellent dining experience.
Very tasty meal, beautiful ambience and great service!
Excellent dining experience overall.
Our favourite and we love the chai tea
I have the privilege of eating out all over the world from street food in the streets of Asia to the hardest to book Michelin Star restaurants around the globe.
As a result, my ratings are subject to a wide comparison of other restaurants which makes my ratings potentially harsh. I also try to judge the overall experience based on what the restaurant is trying to achieve.
This specific East is East location has a calming and relaxing ambiance and is themed very well with a beautifully painted mural above in gold and blue, a wall of Himalayan salt, soft plush cushions, and tables made from the branches of trees.
The live music was also very well performed and added to experience of being in an oasis, away from the business of the city.
The waitress and staff were courteous and attentive. Nothing was missed and were eager to please.
The food, which is the most important part, was well prepared, clean, and organized very well.
While taste is of course subjective, I found the items in the “Feast” (which allows the choice of multiple dishes from a wide list) were hit and miss.
The items that were delicious were extremely well done and I was quick to reorder. Some other items were less enjoyable.
The mystic soup, mango & butternut squash, rice, chicken, and dips with stuff roti were balanced in flavour and packed a huge tastebud punch.
The boldness of the flavours can initially feel overwhelming if your past few meals were sushi or light fare.
Different dishes pair better with others and since there is a range of choices, part of the fun can be experimenting to find a sweet balance.
Some of the dishes were less than stellar such as the lamb and salmon. While flavoured well, they were far too dry and lacked the tenderness I would have hoped for.
For the price, and the experience, this restaurant overall is a great place to take in bold flavours, experiment, and take in a unique atmosphere.
It was nice to go back after re-opening with Covid. Staff were friendly and maintained appropriate isolation protocols. Food was good as always and the chia tea is just outstanding.
The Dalcha stew was disappointing. I like the salad, with its finely cut cabbage and avocado dressing but find the lamb stale and dry. Undeterred, I ordered The Mughal in the hope that the chicken will be better. But no, it seems the chicken is overcooked to the point of losing texture. The silver lining was the mango lassi, which was made using real mango.
Had family here from Calgary and they really enjoyed their meal.
Great space, love the salt walls and the live music, food was grand. Service was nice and friendly.
The menu selection for dine in is very limited and serving size was a bit small for price.
The food tastes delicious.
Live music was awesome.
I will try takeout next time though. Menu has much more options.
