About Signature, Inspired by Chef Andrew Weissman
If you find yourself dreaming of the Texas Hill Country, savory comforts, spice, and the sultry depth of a fine Burgundy, you’ll be pleased to know that Signature, Inspired by Chef Andrew Weissman is now open at La Cantera Resort & Spa.
The menu is straightforward and beguiling, featuring Andrew’s contemporary interpretations of classic dishes — fresher, brighter versions of traditional cuisine enlivened with unconventional Texas spirit. Gulf seafood conspires with Atlantic Coast oysters flown in fresh, house-aged sirloin easily holds its own with Pacific Northwest lamb, and the Hill Country is well-represented with venison, dove and quail. Local and organic ingredients change the menu as the seasons peak and wane, but the constants are quality, flavor, artistry in the kitchen and a warm welcome when you walk in the door.

Signature, Inspired by Chef Andrew Weissman Ratings and Reviews
Second visit and better than the first, which was New Year’s Eve last year. At that time the food was great but service was unacceptably slow. This time, both food and service were great. Quite pricey, but well worth it. Nice wine list.
It is a great space, even though the noise can get a bit much with the open kitchen. Definitely recommend.
We ate at Signature about 6 months ago. The food and service this time were much better and deserve a 5 star rating. Our entrees were delicious and expertly prepared. The meat was tender and flavorful. Observations: server did not ask us how we wanted meat prepared and no salt/pepper on table or offered. I was disappointed as the highlight of our last visit was the Paris Brest. This visit it wasn’t on the dessert menu, truly, a regrettable omission. The coffee was excellent.
Chose Signature for our anniversary dinner, and we both agreed it was the best experience/ food we've probably every had in SA. From the service, to every course, everything was top notch. I LOVED the land and sea (veal and scallops) and the pork belly appetizer was so delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed the venison dinner. We will absolutely be back any chance we get.
This was our third dining experience at Signature. The first two were exceptionally good. On this last occasion the food was not prepared as we asked. Three of us had mashed potatoes which were not even at room temperature. I requested steak medium and it was very rare. We thought Signature was going to be our favorite restaurant and had recommended it to many. However, the disappointment with our food and the amount of the bill will probably keep us from going back any time soon.
My family and I love SIGNATURE for it's happy atmosphere and delicious food. The new fall menu is outstanding and very creative as planned by chef Laurent Rhea. The appetizer CRUSTY PIGS FEET, a croquet on lentils, was unique. We all ordered LAND & SEA, seared scallops and pan roasted veal. All of us loved the tender and delicious veal with the scallops, a great composition of flavors. Sommelier Adam Spencer always has the perfect wine pairing suggestions. Managers Stephanie and Patrick make sure every one is taken care of. Our server, Leighton, had a great sense of humor and was very professional.
ALL IN ALL, IT WAS ANOTHER GREAT EXPERIENCE OF DNING AT SIGNATURE😀
We had our monthly team meeting at this anticipated location. One word: WOW. From the attention to detail in the ambiance, to the servers uniforms, the way every single item is presented (including something as simple as the water), this place is absolutely amazing. We are in the restaurant business as well, so our attention to detail might be more so than your regular guests, but I can definitely say that absolutely everything is impecable. You truly feel like your in a movie scene instead of the fact that you are in the middle of La Cantera Parkway. The food was to die for and paired beautifully with each accompaniment. All the servers, the managers, THE CHEF, and the kitchen staff made us feel like celebrities but at the same time they made us feel like we were right at home. Chef even took the time to send us a complimentary dish with Spanish chorizo knowing that our restaurant specialized on Spanish cuisine. If that is not attention to your guest, then I don't know what is. I simply CANNOT wait to come back.
There is such a thing as too much service. Changing bread plates is a bit ridiculous. In addition having the waiter, and two managers asking how your meal is within three minutes is disruptive. It is much better to be observant rather than intrusive. The food was good.
We could not have asked for a better experience on our fourth anniversary! Our waiter was very attentive to her needs but also give us space; we never felt rushed through meal and were able to enjoy a lovely, romantic evening together. My wife is expecting, and our waiter took the time to recommend a splendid "mocktail" for her to try - which she found to be quite enjoyable. We started out with the foie gras, which turned out to be one of our favorite dishes of the evening. Next we had their lovely Caesar salad, which we split. Our main dishes were the beef tenderloin and the lamb shank, which were so juicy and tender. We wrapped up the evening with the Hong Kong Sundae and the decadent "Kit Kat" bar.
We would come back in a heartbeat! (NOTE: The menu shifts with the season and what produce is available, so the one on Yelp is not always accurate).
We were disappointed with the service. It started with the hostess saying too much. We then went to the bar for a drink and the bar tender ignored us for about 10 plus minutes. He was very nice but that was odd. After our friends came we moved to the table ordered drinks and waited for quite a while before the drinks came. They were not what we ordered so we waited again for it to be corrected. It was my wife’s birthday so that was a drag.
The meal was lackluster and expensive.
They comped the dessert because they said it was her birthday. We had to ask for the check even though it was clear we were ready to go.
Go at your own risk the setting is tasteful.
Another phenomenal experience at Signature. Leighton took great care of me. I dined alone and treated myself to a decadent four-course meal: escargots, foie gras, shellfish stew, and pavlova. So much careful planning went into each dish: the quality ingredients, the way the flavors and textures complimented one another, the plating. Dine here and prepared to be wowed; every dish has that "wow" factor.
My wife and I went for our anniversary while staying at la Cantera. This place hits five stars on every note. Not just a good meal but a great dinning experience. Imagine a European hunting lodge with a craft cocktail mixologist and world class chef. 10/10
It was my and my wife’s 35th weddings anniversary. We had dinner for 8 with friends. The room was wonderful as was the service. The food was excellent and a good time was had by all.
I would recommend this restaurant for special occasions or just for a dinner for 2!
