Sichuan Folk in London's East End has just about the coolest location of any Chinese restaurant in London: right on Hanbury Street, the main route between Spitalfields markets and Brick Lane. Its location alone would be enough to make it popular with students and locals needing a quick, economical nosh, but Sichuan-Folk is the real deal: a reasonably authentic Chinese restaurant with a focus on Sichuan cuisine and with a few intriguing dishes to tempt the punter. Try the Sichuan-folk special-flavoured chicken or peng-peng crab or jump right in to the frog legs with pickled ginger. There are vegetarian options and children are welcome. The dining room is cosy with Eastern-motif-painted walls, dark wooden tables and seating and trad tassled silk lamps. Sichuan-Folk is still a great choice for quick meals, but the food and the warm welcome lift the restaurant into something more.

We ate the hotpot, which was a lot of food. The soup base and sauces were excellent. It was a hot evening and they have air con but unfortunately didn’t have it turned on - leaving the door open instead, making it quite hot inside.

The best Sichuan restaurant I've been to in London, very authentic. My dinner guest was able to order in her native Chinese language and enjoyed the food served immensely. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back.

The braised aubergine on its own makes this a restaurant that one must go to! Delicious. Friendly, good service and authentic Chinese food. Lovely!

Good food, poor management no use of online booking meant a queue for seats. Very loud. Basic decor. Good food though, for London reasonably enough priced.

Everything about Sichuan-Folk is amazing! The food the, the way your glass is always kept toped up. Unpretentious but delivers on flavour everytime. Only down points was getting us on the naughty step with open table by saying we had not attending after we had just paid for a meal for 5!

Amazing food, staff couldn't of been more helpful and accommodating. Wanted a chicken dish boneless and they went the extra mile. If you want to try some beautiful chinese food and lovely staff definitely go and try this place.

We came with my partner to eat the hot pot. When we ask for precisions they didn't answered just asked us to change table. When the food arrived all was frozen. Fom the fish to the tofu and even all the meat. We had to wait for it to unfroze to be able to grab some pieces and put them in the pot. It was suppose to be a "all you can eat" but when we ask for more prawn we had to wait for 20 min to have them. Overall it wasn't really good, there were a lot of people so the waiters didn't have a lot of time for a good service. It was really noisy (we were under a speaker and it was really powerfull) between the speaker and the full room. I will not come back.

We went for lunch and they did not show us the lunch menu but the all day meny which was much more expensive for very similiar products served in the lunch menu.
