We had an excellent meal with excellent service. Tony was our server and he knew the menu quite well and was very attentive. After reading several reviews online about poor/slow service at this Shula's location I was a little apprehensive, but thought I'd try it anyway. It was a very nice experience. I was fine with the pricing on the menu when I ordered but Shula's really should update their pricing shown on their website to reflect the current price in the restaurant. It sets them up for disappointed customers who come based on the pricing they see online and find much higher prices on the menu.

Second time to Shula’s and it was more amazing than the first. The French Dip is the best I’ve ever had. French onion soup as well. It’s easy to get to, just park in the deck around back under the hotel. Take the elevator to the lobby and you’re standing at the host stand. Their bar seems to be a late night thing, so it is not crowded at dinner time. Classy atmosphere without the pomp. You can sit in the bar or they have another dining room more private. If you’re in Richmond, it’s a nice dinner out.

I must say I was somewhat disappointed with Shula's. I had a 8:15 reservation. Upon arrival at 8, there was no one at the front or bar. One would think at a supposedly prestigious restaurant, patrons would be greeted upon arrival. The steak (ribeye) was cooked to perfection. The side of macaroni & cheese was not even average. I've had better boxed mac'n cheese. For the price, I would not recommend this establishment.

I expected to sit in a nice, Steakhouse setting vs the bar area. The food portions were large but no flavor at all. There seemed to be only one waiter/server working the entire night. I don’t think I will ever dine here again.

The restaurant is in the Hilton Hotel. The main restaurant was closed so there was a bar area that was basically in the lobby of the hotel. We had no desire to eat our dinner in the middle of this, so we left. We did have a great cocktail at the bar and the bartender was great.

Meal was excellent, from the cornbread starter through the steak main course to the key lime pie for dessert. The only waitress for the entire room was kept busy, but she was professional, conscientious and addressed our every need. All around a wonderful dining experience.

We were very disappointed by our experience at Shulas this time around. We expected for the price you pay to eat there that we would be seated in the dining room. Instead we found ourselves seated in the bar area. This really took away from the experience and made it feel like we were truly overpaying to eat there. I will say the food was phenomenal but the ambience was not. Based on this we are likely not going to return

We were pleasantly surprised with a meal without steak. An appetizer of New Orleans bbq shrimp was excellent and the equal of a dish ftom that city. French onion soup was very good and avoided common problems of excess saltiness and cheese overload. Finally, crab cakes were the best we have had in the city, including seafood restaurants.

We went for my husband’s birthday. I sent a message before about that, the main restaurant was not open because they had a huge party going on… but they didn’t tell me. We were alone on the huge restaurant. It was very weird!

Restaurant was not available. Had to eat in bar area. TVs on. Loud. Had to ask for napkins and silverware. Asked to share a salad and steak. We’re given lunch/salad small plates. Had to ask for steak knife. Had a question about soup/ salad and waitress never returned with the answer. But the food was excellent would but will not return.

Terrible service- the hostess was the waitress. I made reservations and was asked did we want to sit in the lounge area. The restaurant side was supposed to be closed, but she sat us their anyway without telling us that- we were literally the ONLY people there. The scallops I ordered initially came out cold- they redid the order. We had to request our silverware and glasses for our beer. It was our 36 anniversary- the ambience CERTAINLY changed there was none. We asked for a manager and was just told this isn’t the same Shula’s - didn’t even say Happy Anniversary we’re sorry for the service nothing. Once receiving the check they took off the beers. We will NEVER go back. It wasn’t a romantic dinner like prior to the pandemic. Plus, new ownership they could care less about keeping good customers. The food is still good- but if you want nice service and ambience don’t go there.
