Web site promised lively buffet Sunday brunch. When we arrived, the hostess barely acknowledged our presence. Than she told us buffet brunch was no longer offered. After the food was brought to the table, we were not able to find the server to get more water or coffee refill until it was time to bring the check. The restaurant was deserted. There was no ambience, the food was very average and the service unacceptable. We will not be back.
Ita a beach type spot. Food ok.
I thought this place would be a lot more luxurious based on their postings on social media. I expected to see European style restaurant on the beach which would be an amazing place to hang out all summer. Well, it was a beach cafe, and the food was awful ( breakfast). Service was very slow. The idea is great but execution is weak.
A very disappointing evening.
Service was horrible. Drinks took forever, one appetizer came after we were served our main course, wine came after we finished our main course, music was awful and they over-charged us by 13% (though it was eventually reimbursed). The food was no better; not one of our meals was even good. The wine list is deplorable, though the house cocktail is nice. None of this is worthy of the beach setting; though we probably would have had a better meal at Castaways in the North Ave beach house, for much less money and hassle.
This seasonal place should stay closed after the season ends, unless they can get their act together. Sad for such a nice location.
Very very bad service. Hair in drink. Over cooked eggs Benedict both times we sent it back. Had to get up and get our waitress twice.
Beautiful place, they just need to get their kitchen and service together.
Took 30 minutes to get an overpriced appetizer. The drinks were not good..
Great food and even better views! Perfect location for a lunch on a beautiful day in Chicago.
Horrible service from the host stand/start to finish. Food & drinks was over priced for no reason.
Great location but the food was just about average and overpriced.
I went here for an anniversary dinner. The ambiance is Jersey Shore meets Miami Beach, and I really wanted it to work. The food was fine, I especially liked the burrata appetizer and my husband liked the lobster tacos. The beef filet sandwiches were just okay. We got a great table with a front-row view of the lakefront path and beach, for good people-watching. We rode bikes here and the management kindly allowed us to keep them inside the restaurant area on the patio. Other than bike I don't know how people will get here. Our server was kind but soft-spoken and it was very loud inside. I really want this restaurant to be successful. Just needs a few tweaks.
Food was good, and location was great but the music was crazy loud. It's like being in a nightclub, but you are trying to eat a meal and talk with friends and you can't, and the kind of music they are playing is thumping club music which is a disconnect. I understand they are trying to capture a young, fun audience but lunch time on a Wednesday is not the same audience at a night club... Nor is it on a Friday night for dinner. Play good music, not club music and don't play it so crazy loud!!
Great to have a restaurant right on the beach with upper-class good food.
Glad we finally have a cool restaurant/bar on North Ave Beach. (No offense, Castaways ;) The frosé is fabulous! Beet paté is surprisingly good; lobster tacos are also delish. The poké tuna is just okay; it needs to be cut into smaller pieces.
Nice for a chill day at the lake, worth checking out just to see it for yourself since Chicago isn't known for it's lakefront dinning.
Had the avocado toast for an appetizer and didn't really care for it. Was somewhat bland
The egg and stake to me was horrible and tasted like sour/bitter liver, but my sister totally disagreed, and ate it all. She thought it was "ok, eatable."
I had the Thai Chicken Lettuce wrap, which was just okay. Rhe lettuce wasn't as crispy and crunchy as I like, but rather limp and not wide enough to hold the Ingredients in. I've had and made better lettuce wraps.
Overall, I'd recommend it since it's worth checking out just for the experience, but wouldn't go back or say it's a must try!
Visiting a friend in Chicago and she heard about it so we tried it... awesome place, didn't feel like I was in city but on a island... moved to the cabana and just relaxed ... server was great , wish I could remember her name
Great view, creative menu that still needs work, especially on execution. Hopefully, it will be really great by next year summer!
Food was good, service and prices were less than desirable
I have always loved octopus and have had it all over the World.... the grilled baby octopus was by FAR the best I have EVER had (and that's saying something)! Highly recommended! Also we got the fresh burrata cheese and it didn't disappoint. Planning on going back soon and getting in at least a couple more visits this season.
I was so happy to see so many menu items I could have on my diet- enjoyed the Thai Chicken lettuce wraps! I didn't have a drink this time but will in the future, the staff was very nice and I felt at home and relaxed.
The view was wonderful. The service, the food and the music were the not enjoyable. Especially the service.
I had no idea this place existed and was SO happy to find it! I had the strawberry macaroon salad which is like a meal and dessert in one and is to die for! Also, it was incredibly filling after my run but still fit in my diet. There are so many menu items I can't wait to try, will be going back soon and taking friends! There is no other lakefront place like this hands down.... can't wait to put on my sweatshirt and go to the beach in October for dinner as well- the host said they're open till November 1st and again on May 1st.
Made reservation for 7pm, showed up and it was closed....
Finally Chicagoan's have an upscale option on the lakefront. The beach is amazing and Shore Club is the perfect spot to take in the view and enjoy some great food. I recommend the Mykonos Board which comes with haloumi cheese in a mini skillet as well as the grilled Stone fruit salad which comes with a brick of honeycomb that is out of this world. The lobster tacos are unbelievable and the ceviche is a must. Shore Club is a must see in Chicago for tourists and will soon become a hangout for Lincoln Park and Gold Coast residents.
Never ate because the table was filthy and we sat there for ten minutes and never saw a server. Sand fleas were biting so we decided to leave.
Service was incredibly slow. Our waitress was fantastic and was doing her best but was visibly flustered throughout our visit. They are understaffed and overpriced. I'd service was up to par I would not mind paying $15 for a drink, but that was not the case. It wasn't even busy.
Great atmosphere and super cute venue, but the Sunday brunch package ($40 buffet) does not include drinks, therefore I would not recommend for brunch, but rather for a lunch or dinner spot.
Food was overpriced and quality of food wasn't very good, was rather unimpressed with everything we order, tuna poke, tenderloin beef, Thai chicken lettuce wraps and the kale salad. I will say it has only been open about a week so I'll give the service and quality of food some time to improve to work out all the kinks but I wouldn't be rushing to this place before summer ends
The location is fantastic and the set up is beautiful. The food and drinks are overpriced and the service is not up to par at all. We waited a fairly long time for someone to even approach our table after we sat down with a reservation. The server was pleasant but did not make an effort to stop by and check on us at all unless we flagged her down.
Food was decent although a little over priced. Portions were large. The service was a bit odd. They told us it was tapas style and needed to order 2 dishes each. Luckily we all started with 1 each because the portions were meal sized, we even ran out of room at the table. The server also brought all the dishes out at once and was very irritated (with us) he couldn't fit them all at one table.
Great location but food (brunch) very average.
When I first read about this place I was so excited for them to open and I was not disappointed. This is an establishment that was long over due in Chicago. The food was share plates and perfect to share as I like to try a little of everything. The staff, although busy, was great and attentive. Every section was like being in a new place. We eventually moved to the oasis for more of a lay back, tan, and drink champagne kind of vibe. Overall I loved it here and can't wait to return
Amazing atmosphere. Never knew Chicago could feel like Miami or LA. Great spot to grab a drink or quick bite with friends. Definitely going to be coming back here!
The website makes this restaurant sound much nicer than it actually is. I had to walk through the sand and bike trail to get to the restaurant. You have to use a port a potty if you need the bathroom. Food was nothing great.
Loved this place! Only complaint is the food and drink prices are a little overpriced.
For being a BRAND NEW restaurant i was pleased with my overall service ,food, and scenery. You get what you pay for, The view was AMAZING I waked in and was greeted right away by the host with a WELCOMING SMILE. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive above all BEAUTIFUL. Everything looked GREAT! Although i couldn't eat everything on the menu, which is mostly seafood, salads, and appetizers (which i hope one day i get to try all atleast once), i did have the shore club which was the BEST,biggest, and most SAVORY sandwich I've had so far and the Lobster taquitos,YUM! The cocktails kept on coming , one being MORE DELICIOUS than the last. Definitely going there again.
The setting is beautiful, but the service was not too great. It was our waitresses first night and she did not know much about the menu. She was also not very attentive and we were the ONLY people in the restaurant. This made for a weird vibe. The food was decent, very limited and overpriced wine list.
The service was horrible! After sitting for 20+ minutes without a visit from our waitress, I went up to the hostess and asked when we would be seeing our waitress so that we could at least put a drink order in. That took many more minutes and the service and attention only declined from there. They seemingly had only one waitress for the whole outdoor dining space! The food was very bland. We ordered the club sandwich and it tasted like a pre-made sandwich from the supermarket. The drinks were expensive , small and barely had any alcohol in them. Unfortunately, the beautiful view is not enough to get us back here
Great ambiance and has so much potential but the delivery was not there. They ran out of many drinks and food items, constantly telling us they were on the way to a grocery store to get more items. We planned on having bottomless for I was told that was an option, but were informed that was not an option when we arrived.
The staff was clueless on what items were available had zero direction from management.
It's a very cool concept and the decor and ambience is great, but not worth the money and was a huge disappointment.
We really wanted to like it but the service was very slow and the food was mediocre.
We had a pretty bad experience. The restaurant was billed as fairly upscale for a beach restaurant. What a disappointment. The menu is very limited and almost all seafood. No real entrees. Sliders and sandwiches mostly.
The drink menu is uninspired. But they managed to charge $22 for a gin and champagne cocktail - served in plastic. Everything is in plastic. Ridiculous for those prices. Then the server didn't know what a drink served "up" meant.
I'm very sad that this place is not good because I was looking forward to something great at North Avenue beach.
