First time visitor to Lynchburg, VA, so my husband and I wanted a date night. Nice spot for a great ambience. Service was friendly, but so slow. They forgot about us “because of a party of 12.” No bread was served to our table, even when we asked for it. I ordered a drink, it never came, so when I asked, the server checked and the ingredients were “out.” Ordered a new drink, and by this time, we were half way done with our progressive dinner of appetizers leading to a main course. The appetizers we ordered started well. Great portion size for the fried oysters, huge portion of the pork belly - both could have been main courses. Now, here’s where it goes wrong for the food. While things taste great, they used the SAME sauce on the fried oysters, pork belly, AND the gem salad. Why? It got old fast. I still didn’t have my 2nd attempt at a drink by the time we finished our 3rd appetizer, our salad, and there was no sign of our server. She was friendly, but someone else should have been helping her if she was to care for 3 other small tables with a party of 12. We saw the manager at another table and got his attention and canceled the drink, and while he offered to go get it and take it off the bill, we had finished the food, and based on how service was, we didn’t want to ask for another dish. So, the manager went to cancel the drink and, as expected, the manager brought our server back. She apologized, asked if we wanted anything else, so I looked at the dessert menu. I asked about the sweetness level of the bread pudding to which she had no clue and said others liked it. She assured us others had not said it was too sweet, but everyone has a different tolerance. So, we decided to try it. We got the white chocolate chips on the side and I’m glad I did. It was too much cinnamon, very banana forward, and lacked flavor and that sponge texture I love about bread pudding. It wasn’t great. Which completed a good evening, not great. 3 apps, no drinks, and a dessert $62+ tip.
