Shiro is our all time favorite restaurant, so we are faithful customers.
Everything was excellent! I've been going here for 30 years and have never been disappointed in anything I've ordered. The menu changes daily so I missed the sea bass last night. I'll have to go again soon and hope that it's on the menu!!!
We went to Dine in LA. Food was excellent and very good value.
They have enough space between table and service was excellent.
loved the dineLA menu. shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce.
also ordered the catfish...amazing. it’s my favorite.
ended the night with the apple tart. no one does it better.
Mushroom shrimp ravioli appetizer is excellent as was apple started. Had the Dine LA menu so not as much choice. I saw when I got there that they have prix fixe every Wed. /Thurs for less than Dine LA menu.
Our latest dinner here during Dinela Week was excellent. We enjoyed our entrees of shrimp and scallops in a soy lime sauce and the lamb chops. The service was very good and the inside dining was fine. I recommend Shiro to anyone who wants quality seafood and lamb in a very nice restaurant.
The food was excellent; fresh and so delicious. Going to Shiro is like visiting a dear friend who is also an amazing chef.
Always lovely! If you haven't tried--now is DineLA, a great time to visit!
Birthday. Very nice. Food is great!!!
Of course, we shared the 3-lb catfish...best anywhere (the ponzu sauce is amazing). Had the regular ravioli and the special truffle ravioli --- yum. Had to do the seasonal fig for dessert.
I came here with a friend for the DineLA menu.
The location is in Pasadena near Fair Oaks Pharmacy and parking wasn't difficult for us to find.
The outside dining seemed nice, we opted to dine indoors for the experience. We were seated in the sorta sectioned off area. There wasn't much to look at, it felt very minimalistic but not in a wow way; however the restaurant was neat and organized looking so nothing to complain about. Personal opinion, for a higher priced/upscale place, the decor and ambiance should be elevated and memorable.
The staff was pleasant and frequently checked on us/refilled water. They did everything well.
For the food, I am lost. The name makes it feel Japanese, the tags are Asian fusion, but the food felt mostly French with a touch of American and Asian.
I believe their focus was on the quality of the ingredients as the main actor; but I feel the support should be highlighted as well, as they should assist in elevating the overall taste, freshness, and quality of the focus. The sauces, seasoning (sometimes lack of), and side dishes felt like they had little contribution to each dish. The lamb I had didn't taste seasoned and the sauce was very light and runny. The Potatoes au Gratin-like side felt a bit out of place (it was very creamy and delicious though), same with the steamed(?) carrot and zucchini. Individually, the ingredients were of good quality, but together on the plate, they felt like they didn't pair well with each other and the seasoning was minimal. I didn't feel any Asian fusion in this dish. The appetizers we shared did have more Asian-fusion tastes, but I was expecting more pronounced Japanese taste tones as the establishment's name is Japanese. It had more of a general East Asian and sometimes Chinese taste (wonton dish).
Overall, Shiro wasn't a bad experience, it was decent; but for the price point and expectations I had, I came in with the wrong idea. For a $65/person course, I was hoping for something more memorable.
Great dining experience start to finish. Enjoyed the food and will be back.
Service was good, food was good, nice and clean place for a dinner. Price was reasonable. Easy to find a parking spot. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent. The entire staff was conscientious, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was marvelous, will happily go back to Shiro again.
Awesome food. Awesome service. Love this place.
The menu is genius creative and tasty! Convenient parking.
Been a little while and almost forgot that its always a pleasure dine in Shiro
Excellent food, thoughtfully prepared. Matched only by the quality of the servers and staff.
Food was good as usual. The bread was hot n crispy. There were some outstanding dishes, and some average ones. With respect to the appetizers, the ravioli, asparagus salad, the squash blossoms stood out. The tomahawk pork chop was tender as promised by the waiter, Chris, and the French sea bass was excellent, very crispy on the skin. I hope the chef will not b offended as I love the side dishes of beets, green beans and potato au gratin. We ended up ordering extra. The chocolate soufflés cake, wanton skin, and apple tart were outstanding. Overall, it was a nice evening and the final check for the 6 of us was very reasonable.
Best dinner ever! Service, ambiance, food, drinks, désert - subperb!
Always the best, most creative cuisine, and the finest service! A very special place.
Fantastic cuisine and fresh local food at its finest. Can't say enough positive things about this restaurant. It ticks all the boxes but the most important one which is a delicious memorable dinner experience. The food is delectable. Going back next week. And forever more.
The place is a bit noisy, food is good, wine list is bit lacking
We love Shiro's! This time we shared a few appetizers & they were all fantastic! The service was great & we truly enjoyed the experience!
This was my first time dining at Shiro's. The food was prepared perfectly, the service was great also. We sat outside and it was just right. I will definitely go there again.
Wonderful food and service. Outside is pleasant, except for traffic sounds, including large trucks on Mission. But the overall experience was fine.
Waitress was really bad. Even we went to the restaurant for BD, she forgot to bring the cake with candle. and I ordered a glass of wine, she forgot even food are ready to eat. Really bad.
Always a very good dinner. I usually order the catfish, which is excellent. Last night they had a special with goat cheese salad/ lamb chops/chocolate dessert for $50. Outstanding. Still haven't had an "average " meal yet.
Always a good and consistent restaurant
We have been wanting to go to Shiro for many years. We finally went. The restaurant was very nice and service excellent. The food was very good. Cooked perfectly on all dishes except the filet. It was raw in the middle. and I did not want to send it back. I would still go back for an encore.
Food was excellent from starters to desserts. Professional service.
Ambiance outdoors could be improved.
Always good, smaller menu now
Their famous fried catfish is unique & delicious. I would definitely order this again!
Comfortably socially distanced.
Their seafood entrees are close to perfection. We enjoyed the John Dory and the Halibut Tempura for dinner. The appetizer of Stuffed Squash Blossoms with Shrimp Mousse was delicious, and so was the Chocolate Souffle Tart for dessert. The service was very efficient and our dinner was very enjoyable.
Delicious dinner but quite pricy at over $500 for 6 of us. Especially good we’re dessert and starter courses.
Everything was delicious. I can’t convey in words
The food was good. It needs a little more selection. It used to be French Japanese but now it’s more Japanese Fusion. I miss the old days where they had more selections. Overall is still a pleasant experience. I’ve been going there since the 90’s and before the remodel.
Exceptionally great food. We decided to take an indoor table to stay cool and eliminated the noise from traffic. The service was outstanding.
