Great as always
Wonderful anniversary celebration at Shiro! It was our first time there and noticed many patrons seem to be regulars. We can see why! Excellent food, service, and ambience. Already looking forward to our next visit.
Shiro is consistently good. Creative menu and professional service.
As always, the food was delicious and the waiters are always polite, timely and very knowledgeable. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Loved the evening
A party of four for a birthday. Outstanding service and food as always.
Delicious pork chops, salmon and pasta. Highly recommend.
Authentic French Cuisine, creative menu, tasty appetizers. Always look forward making a special trip just for the great food and good french wine selection.
Like it very much. Service & food. Will back again
great food. a bit expensive
always a good meal
ambience a tad lacking
Superb cuisine. Thoughtful services and extra free items. Always the best restaurant in town.
Finally, a restaurant with excellent food in an environment where you can hear each other.
Excellent food, cocktails, and service. Creative dishes with perfectly balanced flavors.
The best restaurant for its beautiful treatment of fish combining Japanese and French techniques. Never disappoints!,,,
This place is heaven sent. Understated, elegant and oh so good. French flair with Japanese precision. Just the right amount of each. Everything you need, nothing you don't. The staff sets such a welcoming tone. The soft lighting and quiet music are ideal. The menu is a straightforward one-sheet, curated from the best of what's going on now. There aren't any unnecessary choices. Every dish exceeded expectations. Full bar. Excellent wines by the glass. Ended with their creme brûlée which was truly incredible. Best meal I've had in at least 5 years. Love.
Outstanding icon of a restaurant in South Pasadena. This is a go-to place for us and will be for a long long time. Last time we were there, our daughter arrived after the kitchen closed from a sporting event. She was starving. Cheryl (the owner) opened up the kitchen and made a dinner for her!!! That is true home-town goodness.
This is a place to frequent because they truly make you feel like family.
Thank you thank you thank you Cheryl. You have us for life!
Always a wonderful meal at Shiro's. The whole catfish is to die for. Wait staff were great. We can't wait to go back.
The set menu is of good value. I like it that the tables are well spaced out. If you don't like dining indoor they have outdoor dining too. I haven't been back for awhile and glad that I did.
Shiro is always a great experience! We opted to sit outdoors. It was very nice—they had heaters to keep us comfortable. Despite being near Mission, it was quiet. The weather was great so it made for an overall wonderful dining experience. The food is always spot on from the bread to the appetizers and main courses. The Chilean sea bass was perfection!
Never disappoints. Beautiful ambiance- delicious food-excellent service! They treat each and every customer with kindness.
Solid food, excellent service. At the bottom of the pot (pun intended), everything tasted delicious and the staff is inviting and gracious. They represent South Pasadena well…. A definite recommendation.
The food here is consistently outstanding, a real treasure. And the menu is always changing, so it never gets monotonous even for regulars. Service is the best! Chris is truly an excellent waiter whom I have had several times; I thought no one could measure up to him, but Josh is really exceptional too and has become another real favorite. In fact, all the staff here, without exception, are top notch, not just profession, but extremely friendly as well. This is a very special place.
The service was amazing. The decor is very bland no style. The food was just ok. Not awful but certainly not innovative or gourmet for what the prices are. Again the service was amazing. The food was uninspired.
Adding penalties in the menu if you share appetizers
Not great wine choice
Had a nice night but will not go again
Very good food. Very professional and attentive service. Only critique is a personal one- the portion size was a little large in my opinion for such rich food (we had the snapper and the tuna). We would split 3 items next time instead of 4.
Shiro is our all time favorite restaurant, so we are faithful customers.
Everything was excellent! I've been going here for 30 years and have never been disappointed in anything I've ordered. The menu changes daily so I missed the sea bass last night. I'll have to go again soon and hope that it's on the menu!!!
We went to Dine in LA. Food was excellent and very good value.
They have enough space between table and service was excellent.
loved the dineLA menu. shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce.
also ordered the catfish...amazing. it’s my favorite.
ended the night with the apple tart. no one does it better.
Mushroom shrimp ravioli appetizer is excellent as was apple started. Had the Dine LA menu so not as much choice. I saw when I got there that they have prix fixe every Wed. /Thurs for less than Dine LA menu.
Our latest dinner here during Dinela Week was excellent. We enjoyed our entrees of shrimp and scallops in a soy lime sauce and the lamb chops. The service was very good and the inside dining was fine. I recommend Shiro to anyone who wants quality seafood and lamb in a very nice restaurant.
The food was excellent; fresh and so delicious. Going to Shiro is like visiting a dear friend who is also an amazing chef.
Always lovely! If you haven't tried--now is DineLA, a great time to visit!
Birthday. Very nice. Food is great!!!
Of course, we shared the 3-lb catfish...best anywhere (the ponzu sauce is amazing). Had the regular ravioli and the special truffle ravioli --- yum. Had to do the seasonal fig for dessert.
I came here with a friend for the DineLA menu.
The location is in Pasadena near Fair Oaks Pharmacy and parking wasn't difficult for us to find.
The outside dining seemed nice, we opted to dine indoors for the experience. We were seated in the sorta sectioned off area. There wasn't much to look at, it felt very minimalistic but not in a wow way; however the restaurant was neat and organized looking so nothing to complain about. Personal opinion, for a higher priced/upscale place, the decor and ambiance should be elevated and memorable.
The staff was pleasant and frequently checked on us/refilled water. They did everything well.
For the food, I am lost. The name makes it feel Japanese, the tags are Asian fusion, but the food felt mostly French with a touch of American and Asian.
I believe their focus was on the quality of the ingredients as the main actor; but I feel the support should be highlighted as well, as they should assist in elevating the overall taste, freshness, and quality of the focus. The sauces, seasoning (sometimes lack of), and side dishes felt like they had little contribution to each dish. The lamb I had didn't taste seasoned and the sauce was very light and runny. The Potatoes au Gratin-like side felt a bit out of place (it was very creamy and delicious though), same with the steamed(?) carrot and zucchini. Individually, the ingredients were of good quality, but together on the plate, they felt like they didn't pair well with each other and the seasoning was minimal. I didn't feel any Asian fusion in this dish. The appetizers we shared did have more Asian-fusion tastes, but I was expecting more pronounced Japanese taste tones as the establishment's name is Japanese. It had more of a general East Asian and sometimes Chinese taste (wonton dish).
Overall, Shiro wasn't a bad experience, it was decent; but for the price point and expectations I had, I came in with the wrong idea. For a $65/person course, I was hoping for something more memorable.
Great dining experience start to finish. Enjoyed the food and will be back.
Service was good, food was good, nice and clean place for a dinner. Price was reasonable. Easy to find a parking spot. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent. The entire staff was conscientious, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was marvelous, will happily go back to Shiro again.
Awesome food. Awesome service. Love this place.
