We had the most amazing date night out to celebrate Valentine’s day. The service was wonderful, the food was amazingly delicious from appetizer to main course and especially dessert ......and sitting by the fire just elevated the evening to perfection!
Thank you for making our celebration so special and delicious! Karen and Dean
Beautiful spot, located right on the water. Our waitress was very receptive if we needed anything, but not overbearing. I ordered chicken and waffles and was able to add and remove anything I wanted from the menu order. Over all great experience and want to go back after a graduation in the spring!
Fabulous is all we can say.The service from the second we walked in the door until we left was perfection. The food was outstanding. My husband started with the tuna tartare and I had the beet salad, both amazing. My husband had the filet and I had the Shell and bones which is shrimp and short rib.Yum all the way.We can't wait to come back.It was packed, the ambiance was lovely, we sat in front of the fireplace.Looking forward to going back when it is warm out and being able to sit on the patio. We highly recommend!
It was our first time going there to celebrate our first Valentines Day as a married couple. The service was really great, but I got a $44 steak and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It came out closer to well done. I should have said something at the time, but didn't want to ruin the mood. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. We will be back to try something else instead, since we hear so many good things about the place.
Overall it was a pleasant experience dining and service wise. Our server was very informational and made our dining experience that much better.
outstanding food and service could lower prices though
Amazing service. Amazing food. Seriously. I hate going back to the same restaurants but we will be back. Thank you for letting us switch tables! I appreciate the accommodations since I’m so tall
It was a birthday celebration and the main server was excellent. For a party of 8 we were placed at a table better suited for 6 and in very close quarters to a 4 top that became occupied. Which presented an issue when the food runners spilled a hollandaise on the back of one guest.
The mussels - Belgian were amazing - oysters Rockefeller good...kids fried chicken so dry and one filet mignon inedible, which was replaced with a crab cake - fried (wish I had known) instead of sautéed, which was ok. Desserts ok but we had a candle and sang happy birthday.
Overall a poor experience and having been here in summer disappointing. We were comped the bad filet and the crab cakes - since we had 3 bottles of wine, one of those should have been comped - many in the party are in the business and it was a bit sad. I guess, note to self don’t go on a Valentine Day - Presidents Day Friday evening.
Fantastic food and great service. I would definitely go again.
We had a excellent dinner here on Valentines Day. The food and service was excellent, one of the best salmon dishes ever! My tuna tartare was absolutely the best and oysters so very fresh and succulent!
First time going there for lunch. Dinners have always been enjoyable and the food delicious, although pricey. Disappointed with the fish tacos I ordered First, they are listed on the menu as Baja Grilled Fish Tacos. Well, Baja fish tacos are breaded and fried, not grilled. Then, three small tacos, each with a very tiny piece of shriveled up white fish with loads of shredded lettuce and huge dollop of guacamole -- basically a veggie taco. Would not order tacos again, nor recommend them to anyone. Shaved Brussels Sprouts recipe changed from prior visits. Not as good, but ok. The view is great -- the best thing about eating there.
Great food and service. Perfect Valentine's day lunch.
Pre-theater dinner with excellent and creative food choices. Service was attentive without being annoying. Burrata salad delicious as was shrimp and short rib entrée and dessert. Love the relaxed ambience and seaview. A perfect prelude to an enjoyable play. Great way to celebrate Valentines Day a little early
Another great experience...
Our Brut Rose sparkling wine from So. Africa was good as was out fennel and apple salad.
We ordered a seafood tower and must say the clams and oysters were very good as was the lump crab and lobster and crudo (tuna).
I was disappointed in how tough the shrimp were as they were overcooked as was most of the ceviche (though very tasty)
I would certainly get it again though...
Raul was excellent and attentive and we had him before and he w3as great then too.
Absolutely amazing food, amazing atmosphere and beautiful view. Ease of booking reservation through Open Table. Cannot say enough great things!
The service and food was outstanding. The owner and chef came out to greet the patrons. My wife enjoyed everything about the dining experience. We plan on returning soon.
Everything was great except our waiter kept saying he was going to bring out our bread and butter, which we ended up asking a bus boy for, and by the time it was brought out we were just about finished with our entrees. The apple tart we ordered for dessert was also unevenly warm. Aside from that we had a great time; the food was delicious, we had a nice seat by the fireplace, and the service was good except for the tardy bread. We were also both given a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday which was a nice touch. We would return to Shell & Bones again and recommend.
Excellent restaurant for a special occasion. A bit pricey for us other than for a special night, which this was. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and food preparation.
Since it was cold outside, the restaurant had extra heaters along the floors nearest the windows allowing us to enjoy the view and also be comfortable.
Our meals were delicious. I would highly recommend the tuna tartar appetizer. We also enjoyed the very tender steak frites with spinach.
The atmosphere is cozy but you might need the light on your phone to read the menu.
Met a friend for lunch..greeted nicely/great sunny table at window. A "quiet" winter Sat at 12:30 ...pretty good crowd including couples and singles at bar plus couples and small groups at well-spaced tables. 3 sides windows onto sound a plus! Dbl sided FP made us wanted to come back another time for dinner. Creative menu/great staff..all 3 of us liked our shared shared brussel sprout salad and entrees. (Mine was an app of 2 crab cakes w little green salad on side..plenty & yummy!) No room for dessert, alas👍👍👍
The crispy crusted tuna was supurb! Lovely combination with the smashed edamame with wasabi and sesame oil and veggies. Licked the plate clean👍👍👍
Everything was impressive, and better than expected. Looking forward to our next visit soon!
Excellent ambience. Great service
I was hosting some friends from out of town, and this had to be the most wonderful meal I have had there. The chef is wonderful, and the monkfish "osso buco" was amazing.
They say it’s the same chef but the food was not nearly as good. I had the mussels appetizer - minuscule mussels and an unpleasant flavor to the liquid used to steam. I left half and DID NOT take it home. My friend had some meat (I don’t remember what) that was supposed to be a a base of mixed vegetables. It looked like a brick and she said the onion overwhelmed everything. Those two dishes, two glasses of wine $50 each!
Outstanding! Bobby your host is great! I can’t stop talking about how great the food was.
;30 years anniversary
We had a wonderful dinner- food was delicious and Hannah, our server, was terrific! We eat out often- our only issue is that this restaurant seems significantly more expensive/ overpriced than comparable restaurants....
Great family birthday celebration. Nice table, good waiter and food was fantastic.
First time ever there and surprised me in very good way!
The Chef is famous and rightly so. But I was shocked and disappointed that the grilled scallops were both gritty and fishy (smelling and tasting). The smashed potatoes also need a little work: the fingerlings were al dente and should not have been for this cheesy comfort food. The cheese and potatoes did not meld well; the cheese was a tough and sticky topping separate from the potatoes underneath.
I'm sorry about this review because the food is so obviously creative and well thought out. I loved the sides with the scallops (curry).
My fiance loved his tuna!! It was rare and exquisite, he said.
The ambiance and water views are peerless, an absolutely perfect spot . We'll be back and will also tell friends to come!
Anthony was a patient and great waiter. The appetizers were fabulous but the duck confit flat bread was especially excellent! We had the salmon entree and the portion was a good size, the sliced potatoes, mushrooms and the delicate drizzles were delicious. The dessert and special birthday additions topped off a celebratory dinner!
Awesome location, food, service. Second time and just as great as the first.
This restaurant is amazing. I have gone here now for both dinner and brunch and the menus and food were phenomenal! I went in the winter were the fire place was roaring and in the summer and sat on the deck by the water. The atmosphere was great both times. The food is definitely 5 stars. I can't wait for my next visit.
meals were cold
Shell & Bones is good.
Crowded on weekends so book ahead.
Maybe a little expensive for what it is.
Great food! Great service!
I have been there several times and the quality and service has been consistently outstanding. We went for brunch before my daughter returned to school. They have some great brunch options as well as the standard menu. I ordered a Bellini which was a delicious alternative to the standard mimosa that was also available. I had the omelette which was very good and my daughter ordered the lobster roll which looked amazing. It’s a nice place to go with friends or family.
Great food, efficient service, a trifle noisy for my taste but can't wait to go back.
Great food, wonderful presentation. Service was terrific. Highly recommend
Always a great meal and fantastic service at S&B. Wonderful atmosphere and beautiful location right on the water.
