Great food and service was fantastic. A little off the beaten path to get there.
Great atmosphere, Great service, Great food, tremendous wine selection, great views
We had a great night at Shell and Bones for our 30th anniversary
The atmosphere is lively. Our wait staff was outstanding. Great wine recommendations. The food was excellent.
We were given two glasses of Prosecco to start off our meal for our anniversary which was so nice! Everything was perfect and made for a special night.
A great restaurant with awesome food and great service. Taylor did a great job taking care of our larger group.
It was our first time dining here based on a friend’s recommendation. As soon as we entered the hostess greeted us warmly and immediately took us to our reserved table.
Patrick, our server was courteous and very attentive to our needs.
We had the Panko Crusted Crab Cake, Brussels sprouts salad and cod entree. The portions were very generous and exquisitely prepared. We finished with the pot du creme dessert, which was superb.
Needless to say, we will back in the near future!
Family get together, parent weekend at QU. Brunch before heading home. Wonderful experience. Service and food excellent. Highly recommend. Will return
Our dinner was fantastic, steak, lobster, desserts, the service, everything was great!
Loved most of what we ordered, however the Swordfish special was so dry i could hardly eat it. Disappointing to say the least....especially after paying $37 for it!
Not our waiter but one of the bus boys dropped plates that splattered all over the bottom of my pants and socks. No apologies!!!
Service was outstanding.
Food was excellent!
We will definitely be back and bring friends and family.
This my third time here 2wice this year and food, service, location perfect 10 overall. A bit pricey but well worth it. I will be back I recommend this restaurant
We celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary and had brunch on Sunday. It was absolutely delicious!!! The entire experience from the time we arrived until we left was wonderful. The service was outstanding. A must for any foodie!!!!
We have been there several times before, and we all felt that our previous meals were better. It was a beautiful day and Long Island sound did sparkle. It is a beautiful location.
The presentation and the food were excellent as was the service. That day was warm so the rear doors were open giving us an unobstructed view of the sound. Food was a little pricey but well worth it.
The food was superb. The location was beautiful. The service was outstanding. I will be back!
Exquisite seafood in a lovely setting. It was so pleasant to sit right at the water's edge and enjoy well-prepared food and excellent service. Shell and Bones is sure to become a favorite in the New Haven area.
I am not a wealthy guy, this comment may not be for folks who consider a 50 dollar dinner a regular do.
This is a special place - for an anniversary, birthdays, wowing on a first date, special occasions, etc.
Great food, a great sea side setting and very expensive.
Wish we lived in the New Haven area; we would dine there every week!
Our waiter was great, the food great ,and we plan to go back soon.
Lovely place and great service. Had the crab cakes and clams casino. Both were fine. I live in NY Long Island so it’s comparable.
Food was great as always but service wasn’t on par with price of the food.
Way too overpriced with sub par food. $55 for slimy, old lobster on top of greens and oysters rockefeller swimming in oil doesn't work. However, the martini's were solid. Too crowded. Far too many better seafood restaurants on the shoreline. Go elsewhere!
The food was great. But we were served last we were the last to get everything it took a long time for food to come out but people around us that sat down after us got their food before we did! That kind of bother me a bit but everything else was OK. I really hate to think it was because we were the only African Americans in the restaurant eating!?
We had a beautiful night and had a drink on the side deck before dinner. It was PACKED - but a server was kind enough to bring us an appetizer, even though the outside bar was closed for the season -- much appreciated. We met friends for dinner and the entire meal from appetizers to dessert was delicious, and the service was great. Beautiful views, fantastic evening.
I have come here many times and the past 5 or so visits have been consistently disappointing. Though the views are beautiful, many of the tables are not well-situated to take full advantage of these views. The quality of the food is always sporadic - some meals are delicious, and others are very unappealing. The jumbo shrimp are always a letdown. The drinks tend to be good. The shades need to be cleaned or replaced as they are dirty. When the back doors are open, the quantity of flies that get into the restaurant is disgusting. The service is also very hit or miss, and it is often the case that I don’t feel accommodated.
This was our second visit to Shell and Bones. Our first visit everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. Would have given 5 stars in every category. This time we were underwhelmed. The dishes we chose were not as anticipated. While they looked pretty the taste was lacking. Possibly it was our choice, but.... calamari was over cooked and flavors did not compliment the protein. We enjoyed the view and were seated in a great location. However, too $$$ for underwhelming food. Did the kitchen staff recently change?
Great food & service!
We had a great time. The food was great and Jack are waiter couldn't have been nicer!
We'll be back!
Location is great - right on the water - and food is really good. Not too impressed by the bar service though. Maybe they were short staffed the night I was there but it was extremely slow. Stood at the bar for about 5 - 10 minutes before even being acknowledged while waiting for our table. Asked for a wine menu which took another 3-5 minutes. Once seated, I ordered a glass of white wine specifically to be eaten with the appetizers that we ordered (at the same time) and it didn't arrive until after we finished our apps.
The food & ambience was wonderful however it was my birthday & I indicated it on open table & waiter never acknowledged it! I was very disappointed needless to say!
Overall we had a wonderful experience. The location is amazing.
Overall very good. Have been here a few times and always pleased. Appreciate the special touches for special occasions.
They were very attentive and accommodating to us. It was our first wedding anniversary and the meal and service was incredible. We even were given two glasses of moscato at the end of our dinner.
Celebrated our 55th Wedding Anniversary and food and service was outstanding! Our first table was near the back room that had a happy group celebrating something and we asked to be moved to a quieter corner and this was done very smoothly by the manager and waitstaff who made sure we were happy with our new location. This made us feel quite comfortable and o ur appreciation to our request should be noted without hesitation! No wonder it's my favorite restaurant!
Manager personally came over to wish us happy anniversary and gave us dessert & champagne on the house. Very impressive
Cornmeal encrusted tuna was excellent, and so was the service. Raw bar was yummy as well. Very pricey place, but that's what you pay for ambience on the water.
