Waitress was great. View and ambience was very nice. Food was overly priced and what we did eat was mediocre at best. Wine pricing was ridiculous. Would possibly return for a beer and mussel pot. That would be only thing. Be prepared to spend a good amount for a nice view only.
Wonderful dinner, great service with a great view. We will be back.
Wonderful to be able to sit outside in nice weather, and because the large glass doors are open in nice weather, the whole restaurant feels outdoors on the water. The food and service are exceptional.
We were at Shell & Bones this Saturday night. Outstanding cocktails (martini and mojito) on the deck with a view of the water. Dinner on the deck next to the fire pit, so we were warm - everything from salad and bread to dessert was world class. Our servers were friendly and professional. A++ experience, start to finish.
I was really excited to take my girlfriend here for our anniversary mainly for the view. We do not eat a ton of seafood so we both got steaks and added shrimp. We started with the fried cauliflower app which was delicious. For drinks, I ordered a vodka with water and cranberry and my girlfriend ordered a tequila sour. We both got drinks without ice and she was handed a tequila soda. I found it very bizarre the drinks did not have ice because it was not hot outside. I ordered the filet which was flavorful and delicious but my girlfriend got the steak frites which was overcooked and tasted and smelt almost like garbage. She hated it and she is far from picky, but she did not want to complain. Also she ordered a side of shrimp with it and got one shrimp. Overall the scenery was nice and the atmosphere was comfortable but for nearly $150 to get a terrible meal and only one drink each, it is not worth it. I would much rather sit inside at another restaurant and get an edible meal.
Cocktails and wine were awesome.
We started with a variety of all 4 oysters and they were good.
Tuna tartare did not disappoint again though was not thrilled with the flavor of my dry aged strip steak.
My wife’s ribeye on the other hand was awesome.
Could not beat the awesome weather and eating on the patio with such a great view....
We’ll be back!!
Food was not good as I expected. It was ok, but I will not return. Very expensive for the return. The cost is very high, but the benefit is low. Not worth of the money. Just the view and the service is good. Disappointed, to be honest.
We enjoyed every aspect of our meal. from the front desk to the servers and bartenders.
will come back.
Saturday night was extremely busy. Used open table to book a table. Was early and was able to be seated right away. In my booking it was noted it was a Birthday celebration. There was no acknowledgement of this, no question On who’s bday. No candle in the desert. Our appetizers where brought out separately becz they forgot one. Ordered the Shell and Bones, the short rib was delicious but the shrimp were terrible and over cooked. Perfect place for drinks with a view but we won’t be eating there anymore.
We usually have a great experience at Shell and Bones. However, this last time the service could not have been any worse which made the whole experience horrible. First of all the waiter insisted on taking our entire order all at once including apps, salad and entre. He then forgot our shrimp cocktail app. After this we were eating our salads and they plopped down our dinner entrees and removed our salads which we weren’t even halfway thru. It only got worse after that. We did speak with the manager so hopefully they will speak to their servers about allowing their patrons to actually relax and enjoy their dining experience.
One of our favorite restaurants in the Southern Connecticut area. Great food, atmosphere, and service. We just celebrated our anniversary at Shell and Bones, already looking forward to our next visit.
This place did not disappoint! I had clams casino as an appetizer - they were so tasty and the bread that they had on the table was perfect for sopping up the wonderful juice and sauce that remained on the plate. Beautiful presentation also. All of the staff was very friendly and attentive right down to the staff clearing your plates or the runners serving your food. The main meal was awesome as well - scallops perfectly done. I had an event to go to and afterwards I came back for drinks at the bar. Even though it was a full bar, the bartender came over immediately as soon as he saw us. Another bartender gave me great recommendations on beers to try. Very happy and even though I’m 3 1/2 hours away from this place, I’d like to try to make it back there!! Thanks for a wonderful evening - great ambience as this place looks out over the water. My only negative was that the bathroom was neglected by the end of the night - trash on the floor from over filled cans and a bit of a mess in the stalls and around the counter. Other than that, I highly recommend this place!
We went to celebrate a birthday. It was the first time to this restaurant and we really enjoyed the view, food was great, and service was smooth.
Always love this restaurant and the wonderful food!
We all found it a bit too dark and had difficulty reading the menu.
Brought out of state guests!!!
Clam chowder —— they loved everything about it
Food was delicious and made with care
They have the best clam chowder I have ever eaten
Lovely place to take someone for a special meal
I will definitely return soon
Shell & Bones is our go-to for special occasion dinners. We are drawn to the waterview, outdoor seating and creative cuisine. As always the service was top notch, our request for outdoor seating was honored and we were surprised with a splash of champagne for our anniversary.
The food was mostly outstanding. The reason I knocked a star off the food rating is that I was not particularly bowled over by my dinner choice - the Crisped Loin of Tuna. The description on the menu did not mention anything about a cream sauce and I just did not feel that it was right for the tuna - too heavy and sweet for my taste.
We will return, but I will be more careful in ordering next time.
View is the draw here, good service, our waitress was great - food was good but one portion was very small. Need just one more umbrella outside
Waitress Keri was excellent!! Food and drinks were delicious!
My wife had the ceviche and tuna which was excellent.. I had the octopus salad and NY Strip. The salad was excellent but the steak, while the prepare was tasty, the cut had a piece if gristle running through the center which made cutting around it difficult.
We went for Sunday brunch, the food was amazing and the service was perfect! My new favorite restaurant:)
Visit was disappointing, especially since first time & to celebrate a birthday. Service was not up to par & at best minimal.
Manager stopped by to ask about soup since we did not finish it & provided feedback that it was not appetizing. It was removed from bill, which was appreciated.
Salad was good, entrees were fine but nothing special. Would not recommend & sorry we chose to celebrate a special occasion at the restaurant because if anything it put a damper on it.
Wonderful place to eat and the views are spectacular. Staff was very friendly and polite. I requested an outside table by the water because it was my and my wife's wedding anniversary and they provided us with the requested seating. I highly recommend to any looking for a nice dinner out.
Good food. Great view. Good service. Hard to find a decent water front in Fairfield county and this is perfect.
Great food, great service and a fantastic atmosphere. Very noisy but very electric. Loved it!
Beautiful view of the sound and the marina. Excellent service. James was terrific. Food was delicious.
Awesome ambiance, food is delightful - definitely great value too! Sitting outside on a breezy summer evening was amazing- Will definitely be back
The deck is lovely overlooking the harbor. The food is outstanding! Fresh and imaginatively prepared. A perfect summer evening!
The place was gorgeous and an outside atmosphere but we booked on Open Table and did not get a good seat - no where near the water when there were plenty of open tables. Got our appetizers and was disappointed with the size of the Clams Casino - We have never seen them so small - less than the size of a quarter. Oysters were okay but not the best and we had a sampler of all they had. Waited forever for our main course and was disappointed with the pasta dish and the salmon filet had a lot of bones in it. Would not hurry back there too quickly. The waiter was very friendly but disappeared for the 2nd half of the meal.
We were a party of 6 celebrating my daughter’s birthday. We were happy with almost everything. The high points were the interesting cocktails, varied brunch menu, and the specials. The service was a little slow to start, but then fine especially considering how busy it was. A couple of the dishes were a disappointment, the biggest was a steak special that was well cooked but the potatoes had large chunks of chorizo that didn’t compliment the meal, there were no vegetables, and it was priced at $38. Considering that most other brunch items were about $20, we felt the price should have been mentioned. The beet salad special, ricotta appetizer and banana dessert were all excellent! Overall, we all enjoyed it and would certainly recommend it to others.
Great service and ambiance. Food was a little hit or miss. Some great dishes. The chicken and waffles were a little soggy and under seasoned. Ceviche was fantastic.
We were visiting for my sister's bachelorette party and had an AWESOME lunch. The view, service, and food is all exceptional. Don't come in here for a rushed meal, you're really going to want to spend some time and enjoy. Brian, our server, made the day special and went out of his way to add special touches and make sure we were taken care of. Right down to fielding questions like "I don't know what I want to drink, can it just be something delicious?" over and over to which he always delivered. The food is well prepared, and expertly seasoned. Most of us had the Benedict Oscar, and I'm still dreaming of that crab cake! We would not hesitate to celebrate another special occasion here in the future.
Date night for me and my husband. We sat outside right by the water. Our waiter Adam was very attentive and helpful when making our drink and food choices. Excellent food. We will be back.
Our first time here since Shell and Bones took over for Sage and the experience was tremendous.
The food was delicious. The service attentive and in no hurry to rush us out even though it was a busy Friday.
The setting, right on the water, is terrific. A great dining experience.
We met dear friends we had not seen in several years. They were arriving via Martha's Vineyard, but the hostess and server let us wait for them to arrive even though traffic caused their arrival to be over 30 minutes past our reservation. We had a great time together and enjoyed delicious seafood and a beautiful view of Long Island Sound.
Love this place. Lobster rolls are excellent as is everything we have tried.
Food was great. I had the scallops which were great. I appreciate more vegetables with entrees. I would like more entree options as I have been here a number of times and there are very limited selections.
Great food and location. Disappointed about the service though. We were there for lunch maybe people get better service at night..
Octopus salad and clam salad were very good, as were the falafel tacos and fish tacos for brunch. Service at dinner was poor, with main courses taking forever to come out. Vegetarian cauliflower steak was mainly the hard inner core, not many florets: disappointing. Setting on the water is great.
We just love Shell & Bones. Great team service, great food and a beautiful view.
