Sheerwater Restaurant at the Hotel Del Coronado

Hotel under construction so views were limited and restrooms were outdoor fancy port-a-potties that were disgusting. Food very good, but overpriced drinks food plus construction made this a so so experience. I’m sure when construction ends it will be better. Highly recommend the blue cheese Mac and cheese - memorable! Mussels and fresh fish were okay but nothing out of the norm.
Food is ok. Place is beautiful and great for kids. Pricey
Gorgeous views & delicious food. Service was attentive & polite.
Great food and service though some limitations due to ongoing construction at hotel (restroom outside facility).
We had terrific service, a beautiful sunset, delicious cocktails and we both had the bone in short ribs which fell off the bone and were amazing! We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Lovely day. Service was accommodating as we requested a different table, due to the sun.
Excellent ambience, service, and food. Our Waiter Kody attended to all details and upon inquiry also provided additional tips of other services and activities folks may enjoy at Hotel Del Coronado. Our dining experience really helped to make our Valentines Day Weekend very special!
Asked that potatoes be eliminated from the dish... they weren't. Vegetables were cool, not hot.
Not a good experience this time. I ordered a salad that had no flavor. Tasted like chef poured just oil on it for dressing. Took at least 30 minutes to order and about 30-40 minutes to get our food. The price for what you get isn’t worth it. You pay for the view which is beautiful.
Everything was absolutely perfect. The outdoor seating was comfortable, the live entertainment was great and not too loud, our server was awesome! He was so helpful and engaging. The manager was out there making sure everything went smoothly and even brought us our drinks! The pre-fixe Valentine menu was spectacular. I can’t say enough for the dessert either.
This place was awesome!!
Food GREAT! Service: Very attentive. Overall experience was AWESOME.
Very overpriced lunch menu. Paying for being at the hotel. Outside seating is nice but under renovations so loud construction. Inside is ok ambiance. Food was good but very expensive. We passed many cool places that were more reasonable priced with bigger menus after the fact.
The quality of the food was not good. Fish was not fresh and steak was overcooked. Service was slow. I would not recommend to a friend. Given the cost of the meal I expect quality.
Waiter was terrible. Tried to upcharge and unnecessarily opened extra bottles of expensive wine.
This is normally one of my favorite spots in SD for lunch.. the setting is beautiful so it's normally always enjoyable.. however not this time. It was a rainy, gloomy, cold day which I understand was not ideal however I had planned this a couple of weeks in advance for some out of town guests. Instead of cancelling my reservations I choose to be considerate and keep them. Maybe this was my mistake. The hotel is under construction, so there was NO view whatsoever in the restaurant. I did not know that and since the view and settings is really the reason to come here that was disappointing. The food is good but not amazing and the price is high. I think the value is acceptable if you get the full experience but in this case we did not. The restaurant was very cold and they kept propping the doors open for the waiters convenience while the guest were freezing. Disappointing experience and would highly recommend to wait until they have the renovation complete to come back to this restaurant. The value is not there without the setting. The food and service is just average so without the beautiful view it leaves you wanting more for your money.
The location of this restaurant and the view are amazing. We chose to eat inside because the hotel is going through a major renovation and the construction noise was awful. Even from inside it was loud. We still had a lovely time and the food was excellent. We would return, and look forward to doing so AFTER the renovation is complete.
A beautiful day at the beach. The food and service was also great!. My only issue is the menu has been scaled back and some of my favorite items are gone, i.e., no fish and chips and no fish tacos. Next time, we may just go to the taco shack behind the beach bar.
Never disappoints...I seem to pick up on something new every time.
I wold definitely not recommend dining at the Hotel Del Coronado at this point in time. Hotel Del is one of our favorite go-to places for special occasions. We love dining on the veranda overlooking the beach and the ocean. My wife and I had really looked forward to her birthday celebration, but, sadly, it was a great disappointment. The hotel has construction in progress and temporary scaffolding and barriers totally obstructed the coveted view. There should have been an alert about that in OpenTable when I made our reservations. No doubt we will return to the Hotel Del in the future, but from now on I will call and make reservations directly with the hotel, making sure to ask about construction. And given this experience, I'm not so sure I trust making reservations with OpenTable for other restaurants we patronize.
Had a steak. The selection of dishes was extremely limited. The waiter explained that the reason was the hotel’s low occupancy due to construction, which was in progress. Okay as a hotel restaurant to eat at when looking for a convenient restaurant while staying at the hotel, but very overpriced. Also had breakfast buffet one day. More limited than I recall it being when I was at the hotel a couple of years ago. Nothing special but $40 per person for breakfast buffet. Decided not to go back again, at least until hotel construction was over. Disappointing. Wish they would get their act together because the setting is gorgeous.
Poor atmosphere and dingy surroundings
The dinner was wonderful. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Would love to be able to return!
we had a nice table with view of the sunset, advantage of being local and knowing the right time. waiter was very good as was the rest of the staff.
We went for a date night. My husband and myself had a lovely dinner, watched the sun set and enjoyed one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Lovely setting, great service albiet a bit pricey.
We have been to Sheerwater many times in the past, always wonderful. Unfortunately, Sheerwater and the whole hotel are undergoing a massive renovation. The hotel is hard to navigate and Sheerwater is incredibly noisy with construction. Not up to the usual standards. I would give it a miss until the expected completion date in June.
The construction noise was unbelievably loud and extremely annoying and disruptive. No warning in advance. Large equipment breaking concrete was less than 50 feet from our table. This is no way to be treated for the prices charged. I mentioned this to the staff and the response was laughter. I WILL NOT RETURN! I suggest that you stay away.
Can’t beat the setting, great wines and perfect service
Love this place overall. Always great service and location. Food wax amazing. Little expensive.
Our experience was wonderful except that the Hotel was in process of removing their seasonal ice rink and had mad very tall stacks of platform materials that were left in the view between the restaurant and the ocean. Truly unbelievable! Otherwise the food was terrific and the service was pleasant and caring.
Excellent service. Prompt attention without overdoing it. A refreshing level of service compared to some other "California" lackadaisical wait staff. The food was AMAZING. Loved the whole roasted garlic served with the steak and potatoes. Delish!
And of course sitting outside with the beautiful lights of the Hotel Del and Ice Skating rink in the background only added to a very lovely evening.
The service was wonderful. The selection and variety of food does not seem to warrant the price. This might have been due to the season.
We didn’t see a waiter until 30 minutes after being seated.
Food was slightly above average and pricey.
Food was not worth the price. You would expect the quality to be much better
New year and birthday celebration. 500 usd per family (4)
The New Year’s Eve dinner was a perfect send off of 2019 and a perfect beginning to 2020
Beautiful views! Food was really good and service was great! Such a nice resort and loved all the Christmas decorations!
For the price food should have been better.
The buffet breakfast was pretty, but did not taste up to par. We did like the hot items off the menu (included), but the buffet itself offered items that tasted odd (egg dishes, bread pudding, sausage and veggies), other items were cold when they should have been warm (pancakes/waffles), and the fruit with no flavor. For $40 each, I would expect better. The ice rink blocked all of the ocean view, and created a lot of noise and mess. Perhaps this was just an off day, but I wish we went elsewhere.
It was a very busy night so that could have been the issue but service was slow, even though the servers were very nice. I think they were just overwhelmed. They worked hard to accommodate my dietary restrictions. My friend’s steak dinner was excellent but my vegetarian one was not hot and underwhelming. Will definitely try again on a less busy day.
