Absolutely beautiful venue!
Food was over priced for the quality and the amount on the plate and lacks taste. We ate 45 minutes after they took our orders, wasn't the servers' fault if the kitchen took so long. Servers were nice.
hard to give bad service at a buffet, yet our waiter managed!
We wanted to take our daughter and family for a special occasion. We had eaten there before with friends and loved it. Our waiter was fabulous. Even brought a plate of fruit for our little granddaughter to enjoy while waiting for our meal. Food was delicious, view was lovely, and we had a wonderful time. We can highly recommend it!
Revive was excellent- very attentive. Food was very good- chef cooked fish and pork shank to perfection- not over cooked.
Small portions and highly priced. Food was excellent but server lacked focus
It took the waitress 15 minutes to greet us. The Lobster Bisque was too Garlicy and was $14. The food was over priced for the quality. Our lunch before tip was $143 for 2 people.
Thankfully the view was great because everything else was below average. If you are going to charge those high prices, then certain expectations go along with it. Dont bring us a kids chicken nugget meal that has been sitting under the heat lamp and was like shoe rubber. The burger was average. Not worth $28. We would visit again for the setting and the view but would not eat there again. Worst $150 meal. Then parking was $40 after our ticket was supposedly "validated." Walked away frustrated that we spent so much $ and had such a crappy experience.
Truly outstanding service from Armando. Great food, beautiful view of beach and ocean
Great dining experience. we were there for the first time and everything turned out to be wonderful.
Wow!!!!!!! This was a wonderful experience!!! Everything was perfect!! We spent the morning on the beach, we were visiting from Utah! Then we walked over to The Hotel Del Coronado, and walked up from the beach side! We saw the Sheerwater and we knew we wanted to eat there! You get to sit on the patio, and look at the ocean, and all the beautiful landscape that surrounds the restaurant! Our server was very nice and helpful! Our food though, was the best that we had in San Diego! I ordered the swordfish, and it was so perfect! It melted in my mouth!!! And sadly all I can think about was my meal, so I forgot what my husband ordered, but he loved his too! We both agreed that Sheerwater was not only the best food we had in San Diego, but the best experience!!! To me, it’s a must when visiting San Diego!
Perfect people. Big buffet. Perfect location.
Brunch was amazing and service was so wonderful! Will for sure go again !
The Sheerwater is a beautiful restaurant great for outdoor dining with oceanside views & excellent attentive staff. However, this fine dining restaurant served mediocre food. My husband & I shared the steamed mussel appetizer which was excellent & the only good thing about our meal. I ordered the broiled fish special & my husband ordered the NY strip medium/rare. Our food arrived cold & the steak was well done, tough and not edible. I decided to take my entree home & our server immediately removed the steak (which was not cooked to order) and my husband cancelled his order. The MOD returned with a new steak & insisted that we take it to go, we declined it so he said he would send over 2 complimentary desserts. When the bill arrived we were charged for the dessert as the server had no knowledge of the comped dessert.
Fantastic birthday brunch! Sarah was such a fun, nice, knowledgeable server. She really made the experience even better!
Nice place but vastly overpriced, even for being in the Hotel Del. Not all the tables are in good locations; ours was not.
I arrived early and they were able to seat me no issues. I had a lovely baked goat cheese appetizer. The bread with the baked goat cheese was really nice. The view was gorgeous. I watched all of sunset while sitting on the patio eating. I really enjoyed the briased short rib entree and the horseradish mashed potatoes were the show stealer. Waiters did great. Mine was a little absent at times. I noticed others were around more. But maybe he was busy in other spots too. Loved my dinner there.
Fabulous experience. Especially appreciated heaters on a cool evening that kept air comfortable. Great food/service and view. Hard to ask for more.
The view was lovely. Nice outside seating. Excellent service. Very dog friendly. But the food was just good, not great, and the prices are very high.
Our little family of three enjoyed an incredibly delicious dinner here. The service was stellar and accommodating to our 5yo, which we appreciated. We went just before sunset so the natural backdrop was a lovely addition to the experience.
Great View and service but not so great food. Pancakes were chewy, Waffles were hard , eggs had odd texture. I had higher expectations for a high end resort.
Great service, ambiance and food. Highly recommend.
Consistent quality. Chef special, cioppino, was excellent. Serving staff friendly and efficient. Hostess extremely helpful.
Our server was great but food was just so-so and overpriced
The location at Hotel Coronado is lovely. We had reservations for dinner on Easter. It was not overly crowded given the holiday weekend. The appetizer was fantastic. But the meal went downhill thereafter. Our food arrived luke-warm. My husband's $54 steak (and even the kid's burgers) were over cooked despite ordering them medium. My $48 Ciopinno was salty and not even close to worth the price. I also found it annoying that the menu prices increased substantially b/t the time of booking the reservation and Easter Sunday -- only about a week. I presumed it was a "holiday" price we received. Overall very disappointing.
We had a lovely time and we'll return in the future. Thank you, Nancy
Breakfast at Sheerwater for Easter was fantastic. Surprisingly at 7:45am on Easter morning it was not so busy. Service was great and we had a great seat outside. I have been to Sheerwater many times and it never disappoints!
This venue is more like a casual beach cafe than a restaurant but will charge you top restaurant prices. $28 for a luke warm hamburger and cold greasy chips (sent back). No tablecloths and casual shirtout/shorts/tennis shoes attired (but very pleasant and fun) waiter. Go there to say you've been to the Del otherwise I would not recommend it.
Armando was an excellent waiter! Branzino was delicious. Lobster bisque had broccoli in it I believe? It was ok. The goat cheese app was amazing and so was the crab cake, nice big chunks of crab and not too much breading.
Waited 15 minutes before waiter took our order.
Ordered sea food salad and salads were not prepared as we asked for. Had to ask him for the avocado and egg which were part of the salad.
Asked for check and he brought the full charge check - had to ask for the detailed slip because didn’t want to add tip to the full charge which included tax. Wanted to tip on the food without the tax charge
Ladies room at restaurant was dirty
Very disappointed in the service and waiter.
First stay at The Del
As a guest of the Del, we decided to have breakfast here. It was a standard buffet with the usual items with the option to have an omelette made on the side. Nothing special. Around $175 not including tip for four people. Complete captive audience ripoff!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and walk down Orange St to Clayton’s for much better food at a fraction of the cost. Arrive early.
Nice ambiance but food (halibut) was below average tasteless and overpriced. Great service though.
Nice restaurant with great service limited food items. All soups with cream sauce, no broth based soups. Was cold, they could not turn on heaters in outdoor sitting areas and it was 62 degrees outside.
My mom and I are staying in La Jolla on vacation and we decided to come down to Coronado Island and have dinner at Sheerwater. We split the filet mignon and creme brûlée which we're both fabulous!! The prices are very expensive but it's definitely worth it if you want to have a nice dinner one night. Our waiter, Reuben, was great; he was extremely attentive and gave us recommendations for his favorites on the menu. Even though it was a bit chilly at night, they have fire heaters outside so we were comfortable. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu because it all looked so good!!
Beautiful evening dining outside.
I knew lunch would be expensive. $300 for 3! But to have to pay $25 for validated parking on a very slow day. In addition to our $300 lunch we bought a couple of gifts. I expected the validated parking charge be about $15. $25 for parking on top of our lunch & gift purchases is frankly outrageous. That may be the last time I take out-of-town guests to the Del.
