Our newest addition to Main Street Patchogue. Located in one of the most historical buildings on Main Street once owned and operated by James G. Shand and his family for around 100 years. A chef driven menu focused on seasonality and sustainability with continental cuisine ranging from freshly baked bread and local farm produce to house made pastas and thoughtfully sourced proteins. Our beverage menu is an eclectic mix of cocktails curated by seasoned bartenders and a wine list from around the world.

Join us on Wednesday, June 18th at Shands General for an evening with Bedell Cellars of Cutchogue — one of Long Island’s most celebrated vineyards. We’re crafting a seasonal 5-course menu to pair with Bedell’s distinctive wines, chosen to complement each dish and showcase the character of the North Fork. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering them for the first time, this will be a night of good food, great wine, and even better company. This event will take place in the Shands General dining room and will not feature communal seating. If you’d like to be seated with another party but aren’t purchasing tickets together, please reach out to us directly or include a note with your reservation. If you have any allergies or dietary restrictions, please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly and ensure the best experience for your evening.

We absolutely loved the State Room, which operates as a separate restaurant above Shands. Every moment spent there was enjoyable. The hostess was incredibly friendly; even though we weren’t ready to sit down right away, she helped us find a high-top table to enjoy a pre-dinner drink since the bar was full. The bartender who assisted us was great, as was the waitress who took care of us throughout the evening. The food, drinks, and ambiance were all fantastic, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. The best part was how relaxed we felt, with no pressure to rush through any part of our wonderful dinner. Sincerely, Vincent

I took my fiancé there for date night and everything was fabulous! From the service to the menu selections to the drinks, everything was top-notch! Down to the general manager, Jamie’s fabulous suit, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience!

Service, ambiance and experience were great! We ordered the Steak Tartaré appetizer which was delicious and presentation was cool. Then we ordered rib eye for 2 which came with poutine. Our only complaint was the poutine did not rise to the quality and taste level of the rib eye. Steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The poutine was glorified shoestring potatoes with cheese and gravy. I would suggest a more upscale type of side - this was disappointing for the $185 price of the entree.

Shand's is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to - it's a New York City quality restaurant in Patchogue. They somehow manage to take simple dishes with very good clean ingredients and add something special. Even just a salad they add fried sunchokes and fresh dill which gives this extraordinary delicious taste. The atmosphere is so elegant, the manager and waiters are all so gracious. It's definitely a place for special dinners and their happy hours are a wonderful way to sample some of their delicious dishes for a very good price. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Shands is reliably impeccable. As usual, our meal was fantastic: food is insane, drinks are amazing, the service was warm and welcoming, and the vibe was delightful. Can’t wait to come back. Easily my favorite spot on Long Island.
