Portions small for price, ordered baked potato w only butter came out w sour cream, they offerrred to bring me another one and I received it as I was finishing my meal.
Very nice place to take a date. !! Recommend to everyone !!
Great service as always. Love this place
Service was poor for being so slow.
Nice quiet beautiful ambiance, friendly efficient service, high quality delicious food! A great place to dine at a relaxed pace as the food takes a bit to prepare. Not recommended if you’re in a hurry.
We really enjoyed the food this time . We have always liked the atmosphere and the sitting .
I’ll go back again in heart beat! If you like desserts you should try the bread pudding yummy 😋
I had a dinner with my 3 sisters- food, atmosphere was good but our service was pitiful.
Kevin was our waiter and he acted like waiting on us was an inconvenience for him. Was not attentive or friendly. My sisters had alcoholic beverages and he didn't come by and ask if they would like another. He left us sitting there, waiting on him for long periods of time when things were needed. Just was not impressed with his service and in turn, didn't make our meal as enjoyable as it could have been.
The service was adequate, but not great. The wait staff appeared to be over worked and we had to wait too long for everything, including the check. There was a private party with a live band on the patio, and the band was so loud, it was virtually impossible to hold a conversation with the other people at our table. We got the feeling that the staff and management were more concerned with the private party than their other guests in the restaurant.
Convenient location, but should better advertise the location. Seems to get lost compared to other restaurants.
Food was very good. Seemed to be understaffed. One guy seemed to be doing it all. After seeing commercials and pictures online, we expected a more “upscale” place - not tv screens everywhere, loud pop music playing, and folks dressed in shorts and flip-flops. We expected nicer and were definitely overdressed.
Our waiter, who was also the bartender, was awesome! He suggested great drinks and gave impeccable service.
This was a road trip dinner of necessity. Very large pleasant but oddly French renaissance decorated space. Service was friendly but frankly not attentive. Food was just ok. Nothing special.
I went two weeks ago for the first time and immediately knew this was a restaurant for me. A friend came up from home to visit me and wanted to see the best Lexington had to offer, so I immediately suggested this restaurant. It did not disappoint. I want to go every week.
We enjoyed our time at Shakespeare and Company but it took over 45 minutes to get any food at all and then only one person got their food. The other three got theirs eventually but didn't all come at the same time, either. We were talking and having a good time so no one really mentioned it but it was noticed. At least we could all hear each other talk, so that was nice. The food was good and the drinks were refreshed timely but the food just took a bit too long and stretched out in time...
I'm not one to leave a negative review however the more I think about our experience the more mad I get. It took 30 minutes for our drink order. The complete time we had lunch was 2.5 hrs. Service was awful. We aren't even sure who our actual server was as because about 14 people asked if we had been helped, when we said no they all said "let me check what's going on" and never came back. I asked the speak to management and no one ever showed up so we just left. I overheard two other tables complaining of lack of service. My mother got a free mimosa for mothers day and that was the only positive feedback I have.
We went for Mother’s Day. I made a reservation for a regular table as opposed to a high top since we had an elderly person and an infant with us. They tried to put us at a high top anyway. We said that wouldn’t work so they moved us outside to a regular table. Luckily it hadn’t gotten too hot at that point. The gave us a table with one chair and place setting less than the number of people in our party. They brought a chair over that was for a really low table so we had to trade that chair out with a regular chair. They brought rolls/biscuits and we were given one less than the amount in our party. We asked for an extra roll/biscuit FOUR TIMES and we never got it. Our meal was ok. It was on the cold side once it was finally served. No one came back and asked if we needed anything during the meal. We had to go inside the restaurant to ask for ketchup. We didn’t get refills during our meal either. I probably won’t go back.
Great patio. Ablility to accommodate food allergies. Friendly and courteous waitresses.
The servers seemed confused. We had four people ask for our drink order yet it was nearly 20minutes before we ever got out drinks. We were there for Sunday brunch so I ordered the eggs Benedict with cheddar grits rather than potatoes. I got potatoes. After checking with our server, I got the grits which turned out to be completely void of taste. My husband ordered a cup of the seafood chowder which he said was also devoid of taste. This is a beautiful venue with a lovely menu but the offerings don’t match. There are too many great restaurants in Lexington to ever give Shakespear’s another chance.
Stopped by after the Oaks and everything was exceptional. Very nice!
Asked about a drink on the cocktail menu and our waitress told us “she just started last week” and had no idea what it was. Asked about the sangria advertised on the sign outside, she said she had no idea what it was. Ordered mimosas for the table before any food. Ordered apps and told the waitress a person in our party had a peanut/nut allergy. She said she’d notate it. Apps came out and when we asked about the allergy she said she forgot to confirm so she left to do that, came running back to say the kitchen didn’t even notice her notation and didn’t make them safe so they were going to make the same apps peanut/nut safe. We ordered entrees and others did enjoy the apps. We had 3 people come but not the manager asking about the allergy, what we ordered, what we were waiting for before someone told us anything fried isn’t peanut/nut safe so the apps weren’t safe. This was 25-30 min in and everyone was done apps and still no mimosas. Offered to bring a salad but apps were gone, still didn’t have bread for the table or any drinks we ordered. Manager finally came over at this point and told us they couldn’t give us the apps because of the fryer and tried to push a salad we turned down multiple times. Finally brought orange juice for mimosas, and champagne bottle but took 3 ppl to open it, only 2 glasses for a table of 5 and when they brought 3 other glasses, 1 was broken. Our waitress “who started last week” looked at us and said “I don’t know how to make these, how much do you put in these?” We told her to leave it all and we’d just do it ourselves. We tried to get an answer about whether the entree would be safe for the peanut/nut allergy and it took 5 people to confirm it would be ok. Entrees came out and 3/5 were correct, one was completely the wrong dish, and one didn’t come out at all. Tried to push free dessert we didn’t want. Then on our bill they charged us for items we didn’t order with no discounts, had to insist they change it and ask for a discount.
Met some colleagues I worked w back in the 70’s and 80’s. Gave us a good table to talk without disturbing other guests. We were not hurried and server was very proficient and accommodating.
Service was slow.
Though the restaurant staff was under staffed and overwhelmed by countless numbers of high school prom goers and post Keeneland fun seekers, they excelled in providing excellent service and tasty food offerings.
Major Kudos to manager Matt. He and his staff worked beyond any quality measuring metrics and professionally responded to each quests’ unique service requirement.
Some will complain. To those who do, please refrain from being so rude to the staff.
I’ll be back!!!!
Our experience was great. The service as food was fantastic.
Nice place. Not as good as the one they closed on Chinoe, but better than downtown. Sat out on the outdoor deck. Very nice. Will be a great place to hang out once the weather gets better.
Park down below on the back side. It's closer parking and easy to get to the entrance.
The service was absolutely horrible. Go somewhere else if you can.
Great concept but, terrible execution. Made reservations & they had the table ready but, it was downhill after that. Taken to our table but left standing for the wait staff to put 2 tables together. Five minutes later we crowd around one table since, there is no one to help. We wait another 15 minutes without any acknowledgement, water, etc... I talk to the manager about the situation & he disappears. Another 10 minutes goes by & I call Malones next door to see if, they can work us in. Naturally, Malones says walk on over. Funny thing as my party is leaving we run into a freind who, is leaving the restuarant too because no one has come by their table in 30 minutes.
Our family had an excellent meal there on Easter Sunday. The staff is very nice.
Worse experience ever. I will never be going back to Shakespeare and Co again. We waited over 15 minutes once seated to get a minute after asking and 15 minutes for someone to come over and ask us what we wanted to drink. Several people got up and left due to the service being so bad. Once we finished eating and got our bill we waited over 30 minutes for our waiter to come back and take it so we could leave.
Past visits have been wonderful when the full menu is available. The special Easter Brunch really wasn't special at all and really was just a limited menu of some of the lesser items available regularly. Service was very bad as we waited at least 15 minutes after being seated before our drink orders were taken and then several more minutes. Give me a regular Sunday menu and service any time but I doubt we will be back for a while. In the past it has been one of my favorite places to eat.
We would like to give a special thanks to Susie. She made our experience wonderful. We came back 2 days in a row. Both the food and drinks were real tasty. Hoping to be out of church early enough to come to the Sunday brunch soon!
The food was good but the service was less then great. Bartender was serving us, but 2 other people asked us for drinks prior to him getting our drink order, meaning we told 2 people what we wanted before he took it. They seemed like they were new though. Bartender Was busy making drinks at the bar but wasn’t knowledgeable about what they had on draft. Really confused by the service.
Shakespeare & Co. is convenient, if not a visually "obvious" choice in the Hamburg area. The food is excellent and service is great. The setting is comfortable and the menu is different (in a good way) from the other surrounding restaurants. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
We loved it here! The live music, the atmosphere, the service and the food were all really good. Would definitely go here again.
I feel like for the price of the food the quantity and quality was not what would be expected.
Good food. Good atmosphere. Very quiet though - many open tables. Had a first time server - did well overall with a couple understandable mishaps. Enjoyed it.
Food was good, server was polite and knowledgeable, location was easy to access, plenty of parking and nice atmosphere. Overall an enjoyable meal.
It was our first time being at the location. The food was outstanding and great service.
