After months of social media promotion, I took my nephew to Shakara for his birthday. As an African fusion cuisine fan, I expected better. Arriving to an empty restaurant, we were seated promptly, but staff seemed disorganised—three different servers asked if we wanted water, despite already requesting it. Our food order was taken, but no drinks were offered. We started with wakkey hummus and agege bread. The hummus was cold, though the rest was passable. My Chapman cocktails took four requests to arrive. Mains were chicken and lamb cutlets—portions inconsistent. The chicken was unevenly cooked, while the lamb was better. Sides were small, though the jollof rice stood out. After eating, servers repeatedly asked about dessert, ignoring spills on the table. The bill took ages to arrive, and removing the service charge caused confusion. A manager eventually apologised and waived it. As we left, staff offered a birthday dessert. After 15 minutes, it arrived—only for us to spot an insect on it. A disappointing end to a poor experience.

Don’t bother. We made a 7:30 reservation and were seated in a nightclub. Lights off with blinding strobe lights. We were seated in the middle of the room next to a FOG MACHINE and a speaker. There was a live DJ. We could not hear each other, let alone our server. I asked to pay for our drinks and leave and was told this was their influencer night, which we obviously were not aware of. Drinks were great though.

Group of 6 we had a lovely time, staff was very Helpful. The food was good, but portions was small. I had Suya Lamb 2 Skewers & the seabream fish & jollof rice tasted nice. It would of been nice if the sauces were free, well at least the first. Thank you owner for bringing extra sauce for my Friend’s chicken. The highlight for me is the ambience & the choice to dance, which I did. It is worth going once, but please save your money to go & treat yourself.

Sunday i smandatory sunday roast. This is not what was expected. The food was very standard. The chefs are not nigerian.

Honestly what a vibe, Anthony and Caylan were amazing - the food was fantastic, vibes were unmatched. Already thinking of when to book again.

The Service was fantastic. We were made to feel very comfortable, explanation of the food was great. The food, the combination of flavours was actually fantastic, I ordered a dish 3 times. Drinks were made to perfection. I would have loved one of the dishes to have been more generous in size. Besides that everything was worth it, ambience was great. We were treated to shots. I dine out a lot and this experience was so worth it. Very impressive.

An amazing experience from start to finish. Everyone is very polite and knowledgeable of the dishes. The even helped with recommending of how drinks or food chosen should be served. The star for me was the lamb Suya not to forget the plantain; the entire meal that we had was cooked & served to perfection. Definitely going to try the entire menu.
