   What was good, was very good, what was not good was bad. Very variable delays on service and food arrivals. Premium steaks over cooked and not cooked to request. Zero vegan options. Overall potential to be wonderful, but sadly came up short.

   Enjoyable experience but NOT for the food! Great location, lovely deco and concept. Service was great and we were looked after!! What let it down…the concept of the food was genius and something’s worked well and others should be giving a rethink…especially for the price and what was served. Salt level on some items was a little high and I question whether some items like the croquettes were freshly made or frozen. Still enjoyable experience!!

   The service and ambience was very nice! Unfortunately the food was very bad I would not go there for the food just the ambience

   We had a great time at Shakara, warm and friendly welcome, Matthew served our cocktails and was very helpful and polite. Table snacks and main meal was delicious and presented very very well with great music and ambience

   Gorgeous restaurant portions could be bigger. Service was amazing they are so attentive. Music also a vibe

   Overall very disappointing. Positives - the snacks were really tasty. Negatives - the music was far too loud. It needs to decide whether it is fine dining (the prices and quality of some of the food suggest that it aims to be) or a nightclub. I went for what I thought would be a conversational birthday dinner instead any talk was drowned out by thumping bass lines . The service also left much to be desired. The sharing dishes “for the table” were served 15 minutes before the main plates they were to go with, such that we had eat the former on their own lest they got cold. After all that, being presented with a bill for more than £120 a head felt like a mugging. Won’t be going again. There are much better West African fine dining restaurants in London - I’d recommend Akoko, Chishiru or even Akara.

   Food: I am sorry but the food is nothing to write home about. It’s really bad. They need to go back to the drawing board and check how they can improve the texture and taste of their food. Also why do they serve their food in cereal bowls? The jollof don’t look appealing Decor: For a restaurant going for the fine dining niche, they need to improve their decor. Not sure about the disco ball. Overall, the restaurant needs to take steps to improve their food and decor

   Shakara was fantastic. From the host at the beginning to the server to everything. I was blown away, the food was of the highest flavour and quality and the drinks were super refreshing. All the staff were super help and lovely. Anyone who visits Shakara will be extremely happy!

   Portions were too small and the African fusion dishes were not tasty. The jollof rice served was not jollof rice and the croches were quite dry and almost burnt. Overall not a very tasty meal. But the starter (hummus and plantain chips) and the cocktails were winners!

    Overall quite disappointing as they only serve a brunch menu all day on Sundays. Items on the menu weren’t that great over cooked and lacked flavor. Price was high for what was offered, staff seemed disorganised. Environment is good and music was good but the menu offering needs adjusting.
