What Insiders Are Saying
Serpentine is a Dogpatch brunch institution. Also - a good Plow back-up.
So fun! Made a reservation for brunch which was the right move for no wait. Great brunch cocktails and had the breakfast tostadas. So good and will definitely go back!
The food at Serpentine was excellent but it was the staff that really made our experience extra special. We called to change our reservation time to an hour later and that wasnt a problem. But then we got there early and the table wasn’t ready(duh). The hostess could not have been nicer going out of her way to find seats for us at the bar. It was crowded the night we were there but the bartenders and esp our waitress was so friendly and patient. Overall a wonderful experience. Thanks Serpentine!
Tasty burger and generous amount of crunchy fries! The shrimps and grits dish was also yummy!
My husband and I had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Serpentine! Food was amazing and the service was top notch!
Great vibe, high quality food, terrific service. Great neighborhood spot. 👍
Caesar salad was drowned in dressing. Short rib needed basic seasoning, it was so bland. Broccoli three ways was the side for the short rib, and the roasted broccoli element was over cooked to the point of being burned.
Perfect atmosphere for brunch! Menu has some classics as well as some fun southern options. Service is always fantastic!
Great food and amazing service... Beautiful setting and quiet area...,gorgeous women all around, wow
The food is creative and delicious, the service is warm & friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a really nice experience!
First time at this wonderful restaurant for a celebratory Sunday brunch. Very glad we chose this venue for our special occasion!
Had the fried chicken with an egg and loved it! Mimosas aren’t on the menu, but you can order anyways.
It was just okay. I didn't feel like my server was very knowledgeable about the menu. I wasn't impress with the food either. Mostly because I didn't feel comfortable ordering what i wanted.
Took my younger son for a brunch on Saturday. After he looked at the menu, he immediately said that everything look delicious, we are coming back here again. Once his food was brought over, he proclaimed that indeed we are coming back again, as he can see that the food is delicious, and of course, after the first bite, he was hooked.
We didn't get to try two things which were a reason we came there in a first place, they weren't on the menu, but we will definitely come back soon, as everything was freshly delicious.
Drinks for adults were great too, a bit on a pricey side, but still worth it! Thank you Serpentine for making it easier to feed this little monster, as he is never hungry and trying a new place is a huge no-no, you guys got him hooked and he is looking forward to another visit. As far as dad goes, hands-down one of the pleasant experiences, happy and fed child, makes a world of difference :)
Great service and great foid
Food was mediocre at best. Edible, yes. But beyond that, it was bland. We went for brunch, we were there right when it opened and got seated with only a couple other people in the place. We ordered immediately and as the place fills up, everyone around us is getting their food. They very quickly and kindly sent us some food to tide us over and apologized for the wait. Service was friendly and lovely. When our food did come, we were disappointed. Fried egg was rubbery, due to being overcooked. Grits were under seasoned. Breakfast burrito was swimming in a refried bean paste and sauces. We probably will never go here again. Unfortunate with such great service and beautiful industrial interior.
Food quality has definitely gone down hill, based on the last three or four visits I've made. Occasionally a kitchen can make some misses....but the dishes aren't up to par. Assume new owner? Don't know.... but I likely won't return.
Cool NYer vibe, mediocre service, small portions, good food and limited small menu
Cool place. Nice folks. Food was good, but not great. Price to quality ratio a bit off. A dozen oysters cost $48. they were fine, nothing remarkable. I sampled 4 of the 5 white wines offered by the glass, and all were really mediocre. I wanted a richer white to go with the mushroom cauliflower rice main dish (which was very good) and the oysters, but had to settle for a beer.
Always consistent food and service and close to home!
Even though they were running late with the reservation, we enjoyed drinks at the bar and they brought us a free appetizer. The food was excellent. The server was knowledgeable, helped us with our food and drink choices, and was great all around. Also, even though the decor is modern, there were a lot of textured services which helped with the noise and we were able to hear each other easily. Really had a great experience and will be back.
From the cocktails, to the appetizers and entrees Serpentine was perfect. The service was attentive and made our evening amazing. Can't wait to go back.
Superior, as always!
Usually the food is excellent but for some reason this time it was very poor. Either undercooked, bland or strangely spice.
I loved Serpentine! Went there on a rainy Sunday for brunch and it was already full by 10:30am. I loved the ambiance, but it's a little bit noisy. The food is really good, although the descriptions don't really match the food. Service was great!
Food was just okay. A bit overpriced for what you get but service is quite excellent.
Great Caesar salad and scallops. Desserts were fabulous
The presentation was creative and appetizing....but then you take a note....and the textures flavors blow you away. Complex, delicious - a fabulous find!!
Awesome team and meal from start to finish!
First class late night meal with friends. We did the Restaurant Week Menu and everything from starter to dessert and coffee was tasty, beautifully prepared and courteously served. And, though we were the last table no one rushed us out. So going back
Went with friends and husband to Serpentine for lunch on Saturday afternoon. Service was great. Starting with the hostess, they were specially accommodating, considering we ran late. We phoned ahead and they were totally cool. During lunch, waitstaff checked in regularly so our drinks and special needs (extra syrup!) were always taken care of. The food was okay. Had a hot sauce/fried chicken open faced sandwich, but it was mostly breading and and the chicken breast inside was dried out. Husband had the burger which was fine. One buddy had the breakfast quesadilla which was a messy mixture of a way too many things. Another friend had the upside down pineapple french toast. Really stretching the descriptor here. Expected Kings Hawaiian bread or something special. But it was pretty ordinary toast with a dollop of flavored butter. Cocktails and wine were plentiful and delish. Would go back and give food a second try, as a restaurant with good service is really a rarity here in SF.
A neighborhood gem! I always have an excellent meal when I dine here.
We arrived 15 minutes late for our 5pm reservations but were still promptly seated. Once we ordered we received our food quickly. We let the waitress know we were sharing all of our dishes and that was totally acceptable to her. The rolls, brussel sprouts and scallops were all cooked to perfection, tasty and wonderful. Our dining experience was great!
Food was mixed (really liked the rolls and brussel sprouts, not the mains) but very nice service.
Food and service were both fairly mediocre. Lovely setting, though. Won’t be back.
Serpentine is a great restaurant - warm, friendly and a wonderful ambiance, in a fast changing (for the better) neighborhood. The service is friendly and knowledgeable and the food quality is excellent - a creative menu...one of those that you want 1 of everything. And everything is presented well and tastes delicious. I highly recommend Serpentine and I'll be back!
I appreciate the easy parking in this neighborhood, that might change once the Warriors Center is open and it's game night. We had a group of 5. The food was good with more hits than misses. The hits were the oysters recommended by the server, the salad with prawns, the biscuits with ham, and our entrees of rib eye steak (very good) rainbow trout, the cauliflower and mushroom risotto, and scallops. The misses were the mussels, the spice in the broth was nice but it was overly salty, and we were not big fans of the buttermilk fried chicken, little dry and not very flavorful. We shared all the food and ate family style. The service was a hit and miss too, our server was inconsistent throughout the meal. She can be attentive and then also completely inattentive. Service was uneven. Overall, I would come back, but only if someone else wanted to go and made the suggestion to go.
Serpentine was a lovely setting for my birthday! Delicious food, prompt service, and a wonderful, unique ambience. Thank you so much, Serena and crew!
I order a medium-well burger and what I got was a burnt one! Absolutely burnt with black charcoal at one side. I was in a business meeting and did not want to make a scene but it was probably the worst burger I ever had!
I've eaten at Serpentine many times and am always pleased, the food and service are great. The only slight flaw is the noise level, its a bit noisier than I'd like.
Great brunch options with a southern touch!
