Tucked in a corner of a brick warehouse in the heart of Dogpatch, Serpentine features an ever changing menu shaped by local farms and ranches. Soaring ceilings are warmed by cozy booths and tasty twists on classic cocktails.
My favorite brunch spot in the Bay Area. Amazing, tasty, and healthy - for the most part - dishes, and great, warm and friendly service. Awesome cocktails, too!
Average food and service. Priced like the Fairmont but without the quality.
It was a great experience, though I would appreciate a little bit more lighting, but that's personal preference. All the folks there and the food were fantastic, and I really appreciated how they serviced us. Not asking us anything too often, but there exactly when we just thought to ask for something
best service I have ever received in San Francisco
Very knowledgeable server, great food, great service from hostess, bartenders, and bussers. Darker lighting (not my favorite but that is personal preference). The room is smaller with high ceilings and very simple and elegant exposed brick. I would absolutely go for the amazing food again and again. So delicious. Duck was my favorite with the scallops a close second. Crude was excellent and the cornbread was so simple yet so delicious. Butter cake was unreal.
Sf restaurant week
I've been a fan of Serpentine for over a decade. In 2020, it continues to deliver. Food is tasty, nuanced, and decently portioned. Service is absolutely delightful. And the drinks: Serpentine delivers some of the best cocktails in the city. Cheers!
The ambiance was really nice, this is a great place for a friends gathering or a more intimate meal. We dined here for SF Restaurant week. The options were great the staff was friendly and willing to accommodate some food allergies. The meal was very good. We had the sunchoke potato soup and beet salad. The soup was creamy with little crunchy bits of garlic on top which i loved. Two people had the chicken thigh and i had the short rib. Both were well seasoned and we were almost licking the plate. My short rib was very tender with great flavor and the side of roasted veggies and grits were divine. Finally, we had the chocolate pavlova for dessert. I’ve never had a pavlova before but my friend and i agreed were thought it was very good, we definitely would order that again.
Just a fabulous experience, the food and service were outstanding, also time for an enjoyable conversation with the waitstaff.
Ok experience. Table wasn’t ready at time of reservation, forgot one of our orders but comped it. Music kind of loud.

Good food and drinks, but unbearably drafty and cold - we had to dine with our winter coats on. Very uncomfortable.
Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. Glad we did. Love the decor. Food was good. Service was efficient and by-the-book. Went for brunch on a weekend. Would recommend.
The chicken is BOMB!!! The spot is smallish and cute. We went after a warriors game and there service was a little slow. However the food and cocktails were too notch.
The food was superb, specifically the scallops. Our server was attentive and made great recommendations. The woman providing us wine service was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the wine selections. All around a great place for date night, cocktails with friends or a family dinner. Will be back!!
Forgot how good this restaurant is or, maybe it’s better than ever. Good cocktails & large portions as well = unfortunately, too full for tasty-sounding desserts.
We have historically loved Serpentine and have enjoyed delicious meals there so we decided to go for NYE dinner for their pre fixe menu. We were very disappointed the food was well below average and will not go back for a special occasion. Hopefully this was just from the mass production of food and not the restaurant losing its deliciousness!
One appetizer was wonderful the ceviche and the other was horrible, which was the squid. Burger was average gourmet and the braised pork shank was amazing. Cocktails were great!
All the food was amazingly yummy, especially the chicken with truffle bread pudding and mushrooms. Normally, I'm not a big chicken fan but the skin was crisp, the chicken cooked perfectly and the bread pudding made it transcendent.
Our server was very nice to chat with, very friendly, gave good recommendations and was attentive. Food was very tasty, fresh, and well presented. The ambiance of the place was charming yet modern. Will be coming back!
Worst service I have ever had. I had to physically get up from the table to ask to order twice, then ask for the desert menu, then ask to order dessert. It is absurd that the service was so poor given I spent $600 for 5 people.
Slow to get food - slow to get the check
We went to this place based on a recommendation so we were pretty surprised to be so disappointed. When we arrived, the place was filled with a smokey fog. I'm not sure what had just burned in the kitchen, but it took a while for the air to clear. The hostess was missing from her station and didn't appear for about 5 minutes to finally check us in. The menu was a bit of a mystery, but the hostess took the time to explain the items to us. We both ordered the cornbread Benedict, but between the ham and the pimento sauce, the dish was so salty we could hardly eat it. We ended up scraping off the sauce to eat the eggs and cornbread and completely gave up on the idea of eating the ham. We both said we'd have been happier if we had just found an old fashion iHop instead of spending $60 for 2 meals that were basically inedible.
Food was delicious and service was amazing!

Serpentine is one of my favorite restaurants for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Service is always great, and food is always fresh, inventive and delicious.
The food was delicious and the service was friendly.
Delicious Southern-tinged cuisine and a cool Dogpatch warehouse vibe. Consistent, friendly service and excellent cocktails. Always a place that impresses our out-of-town visitors. Every once in awhile there's an "oops" with a major main dish—overcooked ribeye or pork chop has occured now and then—but this is rare and usually dealt with quickly and professionally.
Serpentine is my go-to-I-know-it-will-please-everyone standby. No different this time as the food was excellent, but the noise level. . . .ooofff. . . . even louder somehow??
Waiters took too long to wait tables. Food came out 45mins after order! HORRIBLE! Food was just so so all the good foods featured on yelp were all “seasonal” just stick to a good menu instead of changing it up all the time.
We’ve slowly grown accustom to the escalating prices in San Francisco. Serpentine has always served a delicious burger and the four of us walked in knowing we all wanted one. We were met with a $20 burger, which is expensive, but did not prevent us from ordering. 4 burgers cooked to chefs spec, 2 with no onions, and one of those with a salad instead of fries. Easy.
4 burgers arrived at our table, all with fries, delivered by a runner who didn’’t wait to see if all was ok. It took a minute to flag someone down to mention the salad. Later our server returned with a salad (topped with onions for the person who asked them to be avoided on the burger) and some additional braised greens which we didn’t even mention.
It’s tough to not sound like I am whining. But it was not a busy night. The bar was almost empty. I’ve been eating at serpentine since they opened. Attention to detail is valued and when it is absent it is noticed.
I like this place but the service is hit or miss. We ordered a lemonade and had to ask three times. Feels like people drop the ball over there and for the price the service needs to be better.
We ordered the Scallop dish, three scallops for 32 dollars. Not worth it !!

The drinks were great, food was just ok, something a bit off about both dishes we got. Ham was insanely salty, hollandaise sauce had an odd smoky flavor, and shrimp and grits a bit bland, had to add salt, pepper and hot sauce. Loved our waiter and the ambience was good too.
So mixed, but for the price point probably wouldn’t go back sadly.

Food was very slow. One hour from order to serve. We were a table if 4. 3 were served but #4 needed to wait another 15 minutes so most were done by the time the 4th meal arrived. All entrees arrived cold. Expected better-we used to love Serpentine so we were sad.
