The T-Line Muni Train also stops at the corner of 20th and 3rd streets.
From either stop, walk two blocks up 3rd street to Serpentine. We are on the corner of 3rd and 22nd streets.
What Insiders Are Saying
Serpentine is a Dogpatch brunch institution. Also - a good Plow back-up.
We've eaten here several times and it's always fantastic!
Wait staff was good. Food wasnt bad but for my main, got ribeye and was overcooked to well done and was almost black hard crust all around so bitter to eat and presentation was bit sloppy. Oh well, been other times and other foods great for sure just had higher expectations not met this time.
Allison our server was excellent and a true professional ! The food was top notch and plentiful- I love this place for brunch and dinner.
One of my favorite Sf places to eat! I love the happy grass fed burger, best in sf! I also love the creative season dishes they serve up! This is a must go to restaurant! I give 5 stars on food, amotsphere, services and location!
We eat lunch and dinner at Serpentine frequently. This was our first brunch at the restaurant and quite frankly it was very disappointing. Why they advertise French toast on the menu, it’s apparently a seasonal item and it was replaced by carrot cake pancakes which were dreadful. All told, offerings were so so and the house donuts were very heavy. Still love Serpentine but just not for brunch -:)
Delicious breakfast donuts and morning cocktails!
Finding parking was a big challenge, and the cocktails were a little disappointing. Entrees were slow, and arrived room temp--ungenerous portion of crab on the Benedict was a $6 upgrade?! Donuts/beignets were not hot, scant caramel sauce, a tad dry. Our waiter, Dylan, was attentive, but given how slow the food was to arrive, we didn't dare to send it back. So many other food options in the Dogpatch neighborhood--will try elsewhere next time.
The food wasn’t as tasty as I could have wished. The donuts were not eaten. They were also left on the table next to us I noticed. The breakfast sliders were only OK and I probably wouldn’t have finished them except I was hungry. The flavors didn’t meld well together. I think it was the sausage. The apple pancakes were good but not TDF. Service was good and attentive though they did seem harried with so many clients. Very noisy in there.
Wonderful restaurant. Always a great experience.
Good vibes here, everyone from the host to servers were great. I had indicated in my reservation that an anniversary was being celebrated and they were kind enough to acknowledge that. The food was delicious and came quickly despite the fact that it was a busy Sunday brunch and both server and host checked on us to ensure we were happy. Love the cocktails, the Bloody Mary and bourbon coffee drink highly recommended.
Used to be on my list of fav brunch spots but the quality of the food has dipped. Can't recommend it anymore.
Always a lovely place to have lunch. Great people working there.
The service and food are really good.
Great menu and everything is tasty.
Really nice atmosphere.
Great brunch menu.
Scallops were delicious. Sweet potatoes lacked flavor and were undercooked. Server was excellent.
I've been to Serpentine many times over the years and it has always been solid in terms of food, service, and cleanliness. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside opens up into a fairly spacious (by SF standards), contemporary but casually comfortable space (an example of why not to judge a book by its cover!). While the menu isn't what I'd call extensive, there is something for everyone (whether fish, red meat or vegetarian). One can eat light (my preference) or have a more indulgent meal. In addition, they have a nice wine selection, as well as a wide variety of spirits. I especially enjoyed this last visit (on a Thurs eve), thanks to the waiter, who had a great depth of knowledge regarding the wine (including the sparkling wines) and happily engaged with us in conversation and answered all our many questions with patience and a smile (and a great sense of humor!).
Burger was excellent. Staff was lovely.
What an exceptional team of servers! The hostess had a great sense of humor, which created a laid-back vibe. This is what dinning use to be in San Francisco. Good food. Great service. Chill environment!
Was there with a couple of friends to catch up with them over dinner. Food was excellent. Had the halibut, which was a smaller portion but perfectly cooked. Oysters were fresh and flavorful, and I had more bread pudding than i should have mostly because it was so delicious. All options appeared to have fresh ingredients. They were very accommodating when we asked for corn bread on the side when it wasn't on the menu. Atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. Will most definitely be back and bring more freinds.
Brunch. Menu ok but they fail in its execution. Been 3 times now and each time the food is “good enough” but Never quite meets its potential. Whole place feels “amateur” which it makes up for with fair pricing and pleasant surroundings. But could be so much more. Maybe one day it will be.
I ordered the pork chop and half of the pork chop was a bone. So not cool at $28
Maybe we were there on an off day...everything we ordered was dry and lukewarm. All carb related dishes we ordered had dried and hardened under the heat lamp. While we were disappointed with the food, we really liked our server. He was great, kept our table wet.
Food was creative and well prepared. The noise level was impossible, though.
This was my favorite brunch place in the city. Been coming for many years. Came after more than six months. The food disappointed. Poor portions of pork with a whole lot of tortilla chips. Overall menu wasn't as delightful as it used to be. Appears like a bunch of cost-cutting dishes.
This is a restaurant with superb food; the caution is parking in the area. There are many good restaurants in the Bay Area; but few are superb without the lofty Michelin ratings. Serpentine is one of those few- supremely fresh oysters, innovative salad, perfect mussels, etc. The caution here is NOT about the food/restaurant. It's about the area. Parking is NOT easy on week nights. Being wary of the area, I tried to find parking along 3rd Street; but, was not successful. So, finally, settled for a fairly well lite space on 22nd corner of Illinois (just one short block away.) After our meal, at around 9:30, someone had broken the real window of my car trying to unlatch the seat into the trunk (I had taken great care having nothing showing inside my car.) Suggestion- park in a safer area close by and Uber to the restaurant.
Serpentine is truly our neighborhood gem so we decided to have a quiet dinner for two to celebrate our anniversary. All of the staff were very welcoming and even brought us bubbly for a toast. Although they do not list vegan dishes on the menu, they always do their best to accommodate my needs.
My new favorite restaurant! Amazing food, drink, atmosphere & great service. It is a small spot and we were a table of 4 (+baby) & we seemed to have 3 different waitresses tending to us +check in from the hostess. We also had complimentary champagne to celebrate our 1 yr wedding anniversary!
Good food in a lively setting with excellent service.
Super friendly staff and, as always, terrific food!
Great atmosphere, food and service!
The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great, but the food was just ok. We had the banana bread, which was amazing - especially the jelly served with it. The pulled pork in the breakfast bowl was not tender at all and the cornbread served with the eggs benedict was pretty dry.
Very good brunch selections, the menu differed from the one on the website though. And the service was very pushy to hurry us up to order to pay and just get out. I understand that they have a system in place to make sure they can serve all their customers. But we felt rushed from the very beginning.
Fantastic restaurant in Dogpatch with great ambience, outstanding food and excellent service.
Good food and cocktails
Food and services are great. My cocktail is a little weak to my taste though.
Good food but very poor service. Slow and inattentive to their patrons.
The Nicoise salad was very poorly done (and priced high)- butter lettuce and chopped tomatoes, with huge chunks of Tuna!! No beets, beans or potatoes, something very fundamental to this salad. Either the chef had no clue or the restaurant is losing it's edge.
Friends took me here while I was visiting from LA. Food is tasty, a bit overpriced, but delicious. I would recommend this place
I had the ancho eggs Benedict - overall the meal was nice but cold. I was on a date and not going to complain, but this Is the reason for the low score on the food.
They changed their menu from last year. I think that they have a new chef. The food is different but the dishes still taste great. They check all the boxes of a neighborhood hot spot. Great location, good food, good drinks, and solid service. The hostess or host has been great in accommodating our group time and time again. There was one mix up with the bill. I had been given another table's bill to pay. Long story short I paid it and realized the mistake later. However, I worked with their manager to straighten it out. He made it easy to resolve. So overall I have been happy and Serpentine continues to be in our rotation.
