The T-Line Muni Train also stops at the corner of 20th and 3rd streets.
From either stop, walk two blocks up 3rd street to Serpentine. We are on the corner of 3rd and 22nd streets.
What Insiders Are Saying
Serpentine is a Dogpatch brunch institution. Also - a good Plow back-up.
Maybe we were there on an off day...everything we ordered was dry and lukewarm. All carb related dishes were hard and seemed like it sat out in the lamp for a long time. While we were disappointed with the food, we really liked our server. He was great.
Food was creative and well prepared. The noise level was impossible, though.
This was my favorite brunch place in the city. Been coming for many years. Came after more than six months. The food disappointed. Poor portions of pork with a whole lot of tortilla chips. Overall menu wasn't as delightful as it used to be. Appears like a bunch of cost-cutting dishes.
This is a restaurant with superb food; the caution is parking in the area. There are many good restaurants in the Bay Area; but few are superb without the lofty Michelin ratings. Serpentine is one of those few- supremely fresh oysters, innovative salad, perfect mussels, etc. The caution here is NOT about the food/restaurant. It's about the area. Parking is NOT easy on week nights. Being wary of the area, I tried to find parking along 3rd Street; but, was not successful. So, finally, settled for a fairly well lite space on 22nd corner of Illinois (just one short block away.) After our meal, at around 9:30, someone had broken the real window of my car trying to unlatch the seat into the trunk (I had taken great care having nothing showing inside my car.) Suggestion- park in a safer area close by and Uber to the restaurant.
Serpentine is truly our neighborhood gem so we decided to have a quiet dinner for two to celebrate our anniversary. All of the staff were very welcoming and even brought us bubbly for a toast. Although they do not list vegan dishes on the menu, they always do their best to accommodate my needs.
My new favorite restaurant! Amazing food, drink, atmosphere & great service. It is a small spot and we were a table of 4 (+baby) & we seemed to have 3 different waitresses tending to us +check in from the hostess. We also had complimentary champagne to celebrate our 1 yr wedding anniversary!
Good food in a lively setting with excellent service.
Super friendly staff and, as always, terrific food!
Great atmosphere, food and service!
The service was excellent and the atmosphere was great, but the food was just ok. We had the banana bread, which was amazing - especially the jelly served with it. The pulled pork in the breakfast bowl was not tender at all and the cornbread served with the eggs benedict was pretty dry.
Very good brunch selections, the menu differed from the one on the website though. And the service was very pushy to hurry us up to order to pay and just get out. I understand that they have a system in place to make sure they can serve all their customers. But we felt rushed from the very beginning.
Fantastic restaurant in Dogpatch with great ambience, outstanding food and excellent service.
Good food and cocktails
Food and services are great. My cocktail is a little weak to my taste though.
Good food but very poor service. Slow and inattentive to their patrons.
The Nicoise salad was very poorly done (and priced high)- butter lettuce and chopped tomatoes, with huge chunks of Tuna!! No beets, beans or potatoes, something very fundamental to this salad. Either the chef had no clue or the restaurant is losing it's edge.
Friends took me here while I was visiting from LA. Food is tasty, a bit overpriced, but delicious. I would recommend this place
I had the ancho eggs Benedict - overall the meal was nice but cold. I was on a date and not going to complain, but this Is the reason for the low score on the food.
They changed their menu from last year. I think that they have a new chef. The food is different but the dishes still taste great. They check all the boxes of a neighborhood hot spot. Great location, good food, good drinks, and solid service. The hostess or host has been great in accommodating our group time and time again. There was one mix up with the bill. I had been given another table's bill to pay. Long story short I paid it and realized the mistake later. However, I worked with their manager to straighten it out. He made it easy to resolve. So overall I have been happy and Serpentine continues to be in our rotation.
Food was lackluster. Service was snarky. Drinks were so strong (good for some).
Benedict was tasteless. Burger was way overdone and dry.
Our party of 6 included a 6 year old. We were able to order oysters and pasta with butter for her so that kept her happy. I order a chef's vegan plate - fabulous taste. Another had a beautiful burger, one had halibut, another had scallops. Everything was great! We walk to Serpentine for all of our get-togethers!
Food was bad!! Raw fried fish. Super salty eggs beny.
Service was so slow and waitress kept forgetting things. Said we wanted a burger with just lettuce and tomato. Instead got no bun, cheese and pickles. Forgot drinks. Lastly, complained that fish was raw and she wasn’t sure if we could be refunded and said she would check what she could do. You should obviously automatically refund someone’s order if your fried fish came out raw.
Everything is good but I mainly go for their hamburgers.
Very small place, but cool chill vibe. Perfect for Sunday brunch! Glad we made reservations! We came early so sat at the bar and had a couple drinks while we waited for our table, I had the GENEPY SPRITZ (Genepy alpine liqueur, Cava, soda, lemon, rosemary) to start, babe had a beer. Once seated, we were greeted and brought out some water. I ordered the SHRIMP + GRITS $16 (Blackened shrimp, shrimp stock grits, arugula salad, sunny side up egg) and babe had the HOT SAUCE + HONEY FRIED CHICKEN $15 (Texas toast, house hot sauce, pate butter, pickles, fermented chile slaw, fries with the added egg for $2), DELICIOUS! We also ordered the HOUSE DONUTS (Orange marmalade, smoky cinnamon sugar, ganache) to share, YUMMY!!! I also ordered another drink mid meal, the PICKLE + VINE PUNCH (Tequila blanco, watermelon, soda, lime, demerara, pickled melon rind). Everything was great! Definitely would go here again!
Every bit delicious. Felt some of the things were overpriced. Also didn’t appreciate having to wait for a table when we’d made a reservation.
Food was mediocre at best. Server was apathetic and did not seem to want to be there. I had the deviled egg salad, which was an unappetizing pink mass on top of what tasted like a piece of Texas toast surrounded by chopped Romain lettuce with a creamy Caesar dressing. The effect was a creamy mess. We also had the donuts which were heavy, but the orange marmalade they came with was good. My lunch partner had the steak on a fried crusted potato croquette. The effect was heavy but edible. For $45 for two people we should have just gotten a quick sandwich at a coffee shop nearby.
Food was very meh. There was a group of 4 of us and no one thought their food was great, which was a total bummer because we all wanted to love it. Not much to love, unfortunately 😔. Beautiful building, decor, vibe. I’d go back for the Bloody Mary, though.
This restaurant occupies a contemporary room with high ceilings, white walls and a generous bar area. The staff were friendly and attentive and we were seated promptly at a mid room booth. The booths are somewhat snug but tolerable. We had several staff assisting us an they were uniformly good. When one of our party ordered a drink that was disappointing, it was replaced at no extra charge. All of the dishes were well presented and the kitchen was willing to change the plate contents to suit our taste. This restaurant is not cheap but the experience and food were first class.
Our server (I wish I had remembered her name) was great! Very friendly and attentive.
I wanted to love my meal but the portion was so small and pricey to boot. I'd recommend to a friend but would stick to the burger next time.
Absolutely love Serpentine gorgeous ambiance with food that tantalizes and excites the palette. On point service and delicious cocktails.
The food was good, except the beef cheek was really bland unfortunately.
All around excellent! Delicious food, lots of options, friendly service, SF prices...but worth it! I will be back!!
I like Serpentine, but this time around the food was a little bit bland. Service and atmosphere great though.
Service, food, wine and appetizers were all exceptional. We had a great time.
A true Dogpatch gem. The service was great and food was exceptional. I will definitely be back!
They have one of those menus, where there are several great sounding things you want to order. The food was very tasty and the portion generous. I will be back again!
Came here for brunch and every bit of it was amazing! Will be back to try their cocktails and donut holes!
Food was good service was good
