Our waiter, Dave, was extraordinary. His wine and entree suggestions were delightful. He paid close attention to every detail. We will certainly dine at this restaurant again. We’ll request a “Dave” table!
Outstanding! The best part of our visit to the Del!
I called the restaurant the day before to see if we could add 2 people to our party of 6. I was told no. When we arrived, they sat us at a table for 8-10 people that sat empty all night. We moved from this table because we only had 6 people & the table was way too big. The restaurant doesn't serve any bread...you can buy pita bread for $5.00 a plate. Really??? What fine dining restaurant doesn't have bread? A huge mistake. 3 out of the 6 of us wanted Swordfish. No one told us they didn't have Swordfish until we were ready to order. Instead, they offered a kind of fish no one had ever heard about...so why not take the Swordfish off the menu if you don't have it? Food was OK, nothing to brag about. Service was very good but the restaurant wasn't the least bit busy. I'm sorry to say, I won't be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
We were there for our 15 years anniversary celebration. We were disappointed that the chef did not have anything after our meal to honor it. Other restaurants usually will have a small piece of cake with the “Happy Anniversary” message, but this restaurant did not have such thing.
Excellent food, service was attentive. We enjoyed the restaurant.
Service was excellent.
Vegetarian Paella was only fair. Wouldn’t order it again. Red Snapper was tasty. Potatoes were good.
Margarita was ok, not quite right mix of sweet and tangy.
Great staff, food was cold even when the plate was hot
Best restaurant I’ve ever been to, and that’s saying something. Incredible ambiance, service is exceptional, food is god like. THIS IS A MUST TRY
The food and service were excellent. Armando was our server, and he did an outstanding job! The wine list needs some improvement. We shared our dessert, we had a banana cake with ice cream, so delicious! Overall it was a pleasant dinning experience.
Sashimi was excellent. Lamb ribs appetizer tasty but all fat. Cauliflower very good. Ahi tuna okay. Swordfish well cooked and moist but somewhat bland. We had said it was our anniversary but no recognition from servers. American cabs safe, no risk taking in wines. Steep mark up on wines. Ambiance and noise level excellent.
Very overcooked salmon.
A bit expensive but great
We were 10 minutes early for our reservation. The hostess seated us and returned a few minutes later to advise that we were too early for our reservation and, therefore, we would have to wait until after 6 pm to be served.
The table top had been refinished that day and it was sticky to touch and emitted a terrible odor.
The waiter was fantastic, the food below average and the overall value marginal.
We dine out in the San Diego/Coronado at least 2x per week. Other than a terrific waiter, the experience was very disappointing.
We had a lovely evening at Serea. Don't miss the grilled octopus appetizer - we were seriously considering ordering a second one, because neither of us wanted to share the first one.
Also, our server, David, was just the best. Especially when you don't know the menu, having someone who does give you tips to make the best of your experience is really awesome. Five stars just for him!
If this is a seafood bar type restaurant, why not have the option of steaming lobster? So it's either fried or grilled. This isn't Rosorito/Ensenada. Requested but denied. Even why not offer de-shelling. The wax papered swordfish was super dry and overcooked. Food was meh.
Everything was great.
Great meal at Serea! David was great! Food and wine was excellent! Had a wonderful meal at the Del!
Epic view of the ocean
We ordered the roasted seafood tower and it was awful! There was either shells or sand in every single bite and it was extremely over cooked. My husband and I came here for my birthday dinner and it was a big upset because I had been looking forward to eating here for weeks! We usually aren’t picky, but this was bad.
Seréa is a beautifully renovated restaurant with very good service and outstanding food overall. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the setting was beautiful. The wood roasted cauliflower, swordfish and zucchini pesto were all exceptional. The vegetarian paella was fine but not great - a bit too bland.
We found it odd that the wood roasted cauliflower was marked vegan on the menu, yet our server was insistent that it was vegan-optional, i.e. it would need to be modified in order to be dairy-free. We only found this out because we mentioned that one of us was vegan. This is pretty concerning, so either they need to change the menu or correct the staff (our server said he even checked with the kitchen to be sure).
Last little detail - the back pillows for the chairs are too small and kept slipping through the opening in the seat back. This was annoying and we eventually removed them. Not a big deal but something they should look at.
Overall, service was very attentive and helpful, food was wonderful with the exception of the paella, and the setting is gorgeous. We would come here again.
Amazing, but you have to sit outdoors for best atmosphere.
This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere on a nice evening. The staff were very professional, attentive and helpful. We ordered the flash-fried Red Snapper which was amazing from the presentation to the sauce that comes with it. Everything we ordered was delicious!
My husband I chose Seréa as the location for our 20th Wedding Anniversary Dinner. The food was fresh, the servers were kind and well informed and the atmosphere was beautiful and romantic.
Very slow service. Food is good but not amazing.
Great food and a pretty view
If you get David as your wait staff you will be in for an excellent experience. Not only is he a great server but will provide you with keen insights as to how the chef, the menu and the San Diego environment interact. In addition, anyone who runs ultras is dedicated in all aspects of life, including making your dining experience delightful.
One of the best settings in which we’ve ever had dinner - overlooking the ocean at sunset, with an elevated table, a fire next to us for a little warmth as the evening cool set in. Outstanding service and great food and drinks. Happy anniversary indeed!
It’s very dark and hard to see what you are eating. My husband liked his food but I did not like mine. The view of the water is great. I told them I was celebrating my birthday and they did nothing to acknowledge it.
Oh my goodness, what can I say except that it’s beautiful and one of the most delicious meals and stunning restaurants we have been to. As transplanted Europeans we really enjoyed the flavours of Spain, Italy, Greece and Portugal. This is how it should taste. Try the octopus appetiser - heaven. I would recommend to anyone but such deliciousness comes at a cost - wine had a hefty price tag and the meal for 4 comes in well over $100 per person.
Wonderful, reasonably priced place at the Coronado hotel. The cauliflower and calamari are phenomenal. The strand drink is also a must. Being a sea food place, I thought it was odd they didn’t have shrimp. I would definitely go back again. It’s a bonus going when the sun is setting.
The coliflower was good.
Service a bit slow.
The desserts were not good.
Everything was fabulous!
Food was good -definitely not worth what they charge
My knee was pressed into the table all night. It was too dark. The waiter always picked the most expensive item when I asked for a recommendation. The food was silly marked up pricing. And to top it off the food was average. Disappointed. And we chose it to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary.
Outstanding all around. Mark our server was excellent and Hugo his back was very cordial and attentive. Mark’s superior knowledge of the menu options were 5 Star too....and what a sense of humor! We haven’t enjoyed a meal like this in the San Diego area for quite sometime.
Requested outdoor seating for our anniversary and we were in the back corner of the restaurant by the waitstaff computer. Ambiance was ruined. There were large tables open when we came in and left that would have made the experience significantly better. Waitstaff was very slow and multiple times we wanted another drink and
Went just for appetizers. The lobster croquettes, grilled octopus, and sashimi were fabulous.
Service could be improved. Food was good . Server didn’t look interested in serving.
Great food but left with sour taste as the bill was padded with item we did not order nor receive. The fact that the waiter was neither surprised nor embarrassed nor very apologetic,(nor did they comp anything to make us feel better) speaks volumes. What a shame!
