The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

Wonderful food! Great service. Best Italian food in Seattle!
Lovely dinner and drinks. Great service. Nice cozy little table. We had a wonderful time!
we have such a very bad experience last night. The food is very salty, overcooked and supper slow service. never come back!
So great about COVID accommodations. We love this place when visiting. Only comment is it was very salty food flavor would have come through better with less salt.
Ambiance less than ideal due to fault of COVID and not their fault. Needed to put mask on everytime someone came by our table. Unfortunately not same ambiance pre-COVID and certain it will be once mask mandate is lifted.
The food is always excellent. The staff is always wonderful. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.
Historically have loved this restaurant. And truly do appreciate operating a restaurant in the days of COVID is a challenge. I've been trying to support as many of my favorite restaurants as possible during this time to do my part to help keep them alive. Most places in Seattle have done well at adapting but still make you feel like a "guest". I was very disappointed with Serafina as they have swung so far the other way in providing service and making you feel comfortable. I'd go somewhere else until COVID is over and hope that they return to the service level they were known for.
We’ve been waiting for the meatballs to come back to the menu - they do not disappoint! Great as always. We’ll be back soon!
Went for what I thought was Seattle Restaurant Week Menu - turns out it was TAKE-OUT Only (yes, it said that on SRW listing but I thought it meant Dine-In and Take-out). Have done SRW here several times in the past....Heard numerous other diners inquire about SRW Menu and told Take-out ONLY (LOTS of not happy customers). I always feel the food is way OVERPRICED for the portion you get - I ordered seafood risotto with 3 smallish prawns and 4 mussels (it was $28!!) small portion and that's all you got. Had to order bread on the side for $5 (got 4 tiny pieces with some olice oil= 1 regular piece of focaccia) Food is good - not GREAT. Dessert for $10 was excellent - Chocolate mousse.
We were outside on an isolated deck, under a heater.
Excellent service, even though we were out of the line of vision. They also have safely spaced indoor dining. Food is delicious and environment is soothing.
Perfect food, perfect drinks, perfect service —as always!
Took my boyfriend there for his birthday and had an amazing time! Service was fantastic, wine selection was great and the food was some of the best we’ve had (and he loves Italian food)!! Highly recommend the bruschetta appetizer and meatballs, we will definitely be back for those alone!
As always, the food is amazing at Serafina -you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. The rigatoni is actually something to write home about. I ordered a high end Merlot and that was just OK. The staff was friendly and very accommodating as we were running behind for our reservation, so really appreciated that. They have removed at least 1/2 of the tables in the dining room which has really changed the acoustics and the aesthetic of the room and doesn't have that romantic, cozy feel it once had. Somehow it just doesn't feel commensurate to the beautiful plates they are serving. I recommend leaving the tables in place even if unseated or filling the space with other things; it will help the lighting, the acoustics, and the vibe. There was a huge empty space in the middle of the room - a large rustic table there on a pretty rug would do wonders. There were also no candles on the table or anywhere in the dining room so the lighting was just really drab and flat. It was also hard to see/read the menu. They did a great job at keeping the waitstaff social distanced by having patrons mask up when they approached the table. It is hard to get used to this but really is the right thing to do. Being social distanced, waitstaff probably has to go out of their way to be extra engaging while in a mask and at a distance but this is necessary to make people feel welcome and not as though you are doing them a favor by being there. One other thing, as we were leaving, the staff opened the door to a blind dog that visits every night for his treat. So very sweet :)
Our experience at Serafina during the pandemic was a positive one.
Upon arrival we were informed that while we could take our masks off at our table, that when waitstaff approach our table, we were to place our masks or napkins over our mouths for added safety of the staff. This was the first time at a restaurant that we'd experienced this heightened level of precaution - up until now we've only been required to put our masks on if we LEAVE our table, not when the waitstaff approach. This precaution made sense to us and we were amenable to it, though truth be told, because it's new for us, at times it felt odd to see the waitstaff approach and then suddenly stop about 8 feet away and wait until we covered our mouths.
As required by health code, tables were spread far apart which not surprisingly diminished the typical cozy atmosphere typical of Serafina. Lovely touches like tablecloths and candles are missing, so the atmosphere sadly, but understandably, lacks.
The beverages and food were delicious and beautifully presented.
For pandemic fine dining, Serafina is a lovely though spare, experience.
Food was delicious.
Ambience could have been better for the price we pay.
They ask for special occasion, but you dont see any gesture for that apart from a wish. So wonder why would they even ask for it and raise customer expectations.
This is the BEST Italian / Culinary Restaurant on the West Coast. Period. Food is absolutely EXCELLENT. I HAD Oso Buco and it was the best ever, excellent flavors - served hot with wonderful plate presentation. My wife had a pasta dish to rave about. This Restaurant is fantastic...we could eat there every night.
Fabulous food, great service and excellent ambiance!
Love this restaurant. Never disappoints!! Great menu, staff & ambience.
One of our favorite spots for years, very different experience now. Have been to many restaurants in the last few months, and found the "attitude" at Serafina very off putting. Our server approached our table as if we were radioactive, standing 10 feet back from the table to take orders, masks had to be in place when any server approached you even though they were wearing masks and gloves. Sensible precaution is are one thing, outright paranoia is another.
Wonderful food. Server was super helpful with recommendations and wine pairings. They can make anything off menu you might want. It’s worth the price!
It was the first restaurant I tried since my arrival from Boston. My fiancé and I had a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We will definitely visit this restaurant again in the future.
Had been hearing good things about Serafina for a while and finally took a chance to visit for my partner's birthday. The food was great, the outside patio was beautiful and staff very friendly! Definitely recommend checking it out.
Excellent meal, from appetizers to dessert. Wine selection good. Service was attentive and helpful. We love Serafina!
Lovely and delicious!! Great service!
In era of Covid , very prepared and thoughtful
Food is great, but the service is terrible. It was very transactional and cold.
Food, staff and drinks absolutely amazing! We are so happy we chose Serafina for our special anniversary dinner. Well worth the drive to Seattle and we felt completely safe from illness and bad guys in this setting.
As great as ever. We’ll come back soon!
They did a wonderful with Covid awareness and the starters were amazing.
FYI, you will be asked to wear a mask every time a staff member approaches the table. You can land where you want on the utility of this, but since this a non-standard policy and does affect the value of what is being traded for your hard-earned money, it should be clearly announced on their website.
We would have picked a different restaurant had we known. Now ya'll know.
Food was good. Service was good.
My group of four was all dental care providers, so we fully understand the concerns for Covid, distancing, masks, etc. That said, it was rather nervewracking having to raise and lower masks about 40 times during our dinner. We have been to several restaurants that have opened their doors and Serafina was the most stringent regarding mask use....by far. What was more important though, was that the entire serving team seemed stressed and unhappy and awkward. We were asked to stand outside for 10 min, despite reservations. NOBODY smiled when we arrived or were seated.....seriously, nobody. Our server approached our table from far away and awkwardly greeted us with a surly, "Sir, please put your mask on!". All four of us were quite taken aback and the experience was not good. My overall point is, if you are not willing to enjoy your customers, to work hard for a lovely experience (which is what we are accustomed to at Serafina) and to find ways to be lighter and fun about the restrictions we are all faced with.....maybe you should not be open for in house dining yet.
Serafina is Always a treat! It’s our go-to with my friends. The melanzane is so fabulous, there are no words!! ♥️
Wonderful food and service!
Staff made a formal request for guests to wear masks when waiters approach the table - makes so much sense! Everyone enjoyed their food. Will return when back in Seattle.
Great food, great service, above and beyond COVID safety procedures.
Perfectly crafted meal. Every facet was excellent. Best COVID safety protocol of any restaurant we have visit during the pandemic. Service was smooth and seamless. Cheers to Serafina!
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with dinner at Serafina. In these days of Covid, it was good to see that the restaurant and the staff were serious about protecting their staff and patrons. Most of the dining spots were available on their patio which was beautiful and well spaced. The staff was very attentive but not obnoxiously ao. The meal was fantastic. We enjoyed the Bruschetta with craft cocktails, a fine bottle of wine and their Lasagna and Orchiette pasta. The Lasagna was one of the better ones I’ve ever had. We topped the evening off with wonderful deserts. We couldn’t be happier to spend our anniversary celebration at Serafina. We’ll be back.
So happy Serafina was still able to pull off their always lovely patio seating for a dinner with a few friends this last weekend. Tables were spaced appropriately apart and all servers wore masks and gloves, and patrons were also expected to wear masks going to/from their table or when servers approached. As usual, indulged in too much bread and amazing house olive oil (which I enjoy gifting to friends when I stock up at their holiday bazaar). The bread was a house focaccia that comes sprinkled with coarse salt not the Columbia bakery offering of years past and a nice change. The agnolotti with duck confit was very good (sage butter = happy tummy!) and friends enjoyed their tagliatelle with smoked salmon, melanzane and lasagna. Cioccolata and vanilla chiffon cake for dessert was also pretty and delicious. Good food, relaxing ambiance and belly laughs were much needed during these stressful times and we were more than happy to bring our business to a much loved restaurant. Thanks for a bright spot in these unusual times!
We have enjoyed every dish we've ordered on multiple visits to our go to restaurant.
I wrote an earlier review and it froze on the upload photo screen.
