It wasn’t a good experience from early on. First off, my husband’s gin martini was served in a small wine glass! Later I saw other people with fancy drinks served in martini glasses. What was that about?! Then, our server told us when we tried to order our appetizer and then later decide on dinner that she needed it all at once but not to worry they would pace it out. I knew from experience this would not be the case, but she insisted so we waited a few minutes and picked our entrees and then ordered it all at once trusting that the kitchen would do what she said they would. We ordered the table side hand pulled mozzarella with a prosciutto add on which was actually quite good, but while she was still pulling it, our side dish for our entree showed up! As soon as she set down the appetizer, our daughter’s entree pizza showed up. At this point I called over the server and said you promised us this wouldn’t happen! So she took away the pizza but left the broccolini side dish that was supposed to accompany our entrees to get cold while we ate our appetizer. Shortly after we finished the mozzarella, our pasta entrees showed up. They were very small, especially for almost $30 each!, and the Amatriciana was incredibly salty and the Cacio e Pepe had no salt. My daughter’s pizza was very very salty and the crust was absolutely black. The first wine we ordered was also not available and instead the server suggested she bring us one that was twice the amount of the one we ordered. Overall it was a terrible experience. I couldn’t possibly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We are very experienced foodies and local San Diegans, and this one is off the list!

Worst experience. I was visiting from out of town and got told to visit there. First and foremost the service was awful. We were sitting there mind you it was a little late but we did not get our water refilled once or asked how we were doing after 30 minutes. Then we were by the chef counter where none of them were wearing gloves while cutting meat or working with the food and was not wearing a hair net. Then the lead chef (female) went to taste the food with her finger and did not wash her hands after. The food on top of that was alright but after seeing that you did not want to eat at all. Left so unsatisfied.

Honestly, not super impressed. For the price point the food is average. We had a 7pm reservation and didn’t get seated until 8pm, so not sure what the reservation was for. They don’t validate parking which is costly if you park in the hotel parking. Overall, the ambience is all you pay for because it’s a pretty view but definitely don’t think I’ll be back anytime soon.

Ambiance and view were amazing. Also, one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever seen. Overall, this place put alot of afford into small details. Liked it very much. Cocktails were tasty, funghi pizza would have been very bland, but luckily we added prosciutto on top, so it tasted great then.. Prawns were fantastic! Keep the sauce for the pizza crust! We also had a salad. It was fine, alittle on the bitter side. Something sweet like pomegranate seeds or so woulda been nice to balance it out.

We will definitely come back to try more items

The service was as good as it could be but not what I imagined when booking. Our serve was delightful and educated on the menu + gave great recs BUT with how many tables our server had, it was difficult to actually get orders in. She was incredible but the fact that she was covering so many tables (not her control) took away from the attention provided. At 18.00 a cocktail or glass of wine it would have been nice to be asked if wanted another instead of us having to stop her between running orders in. The young woman who made our mozzarella also did the best that she could but there was literally no space for her to bring her cart close enough for us to be able to hear which was diaspointing since we paid for table side service. In addition having parties of strangers about 10 inches away from us was very concerning post and (still current) covid. It would have been nice of this restaurant took their patron and staff's health into consideration when paying at minimum $$$ per person.

Nos pareció de mal gusto que al sentarnos nos informaran que teníamos que dejar la mesa en 2 horas. No sé si lo indican aquí en Open Table, sinceramente no leí, pero la forma en que nos lo hizo saber la mesera no fue educada. La comida bien a secas, y las mesas diminutas e incómodas.

We went to Seneca for a friend's birthday and had an excellent experience. everything from the build out to the food and service was wonderful. A must, start with the stretched mozzarella. Grilled prawns, pizza and crab and burrata raviolis are all excellent. A beautiful location/view as well.

The space is almost instantly recognizable as the handiwork of the Consortium Holdings group behind so many of San Diego's hottest spots. In short--it's super cool. The menu is not expansive and the portion sizes are not huge, but there are some gems. Everything we had was good, but nothing was OMG-exceptional. For the $$$, we found ourselves wishing we'd chosen from any number of San Diego's other more established and probably more authentic Italian experiences.

The design and atmosphere was nice. The hand pulled mozzarella was delicious. Those were the only things that were memorable for us.

We each got an entrée, branzino and chicken, and were disappointed.

Branzino was a good size but the flavor was non-existent. It came with sautéed bell peppers which didn’t need to belong on the plate and didn’t go when eaten with the fish. It needed more of the olivata than anything. It’s a whole branzino and doesn’t come deboned. So you do have to work for the meat.

The chicken was bland. It can with skin on and looked crispy, but was not. Also majority of it was dry.

The drinks were good but are all priced at $17, which is kind of overpriced in our opinion.

The tiramisu was good but the espresso soaked lady fingers were drowned in the mascarpone mousse. Basically was a shaved chocolate and mascarpone mousse dessert.

Service was slow and could be because they were short handed as most restaurants are experiencing. Totally understand that but we had a plate that was clearly not being used and could have been picked up. There was quite a few servers/bussers that walked by our table and didn’t even attempt to take the plate off our table. After our unfinished food was packed, the plate was still on our table for a good 15 maybe 20 mins before it was removed.

We will give it another go but only going back for the hand pulled pulled mozzarella again and this time try their pizza and pastas.

Atmosphere and overall aesthetic was amazing. Food was decently priced for what you got. Steak was disappointing for 100 dollars. I would come back for small plates and drinks but would not come back for entrees. Service was average , did forget my last drink I order which I was bummed because the drink was amazing. Ordered all 3 deserts and was also disappointed.

beet salad was good, the prawns gross swimming in butter I sent them back, pizza was burned, carrots and broccoli were ok, cheese was the best, came with a group of 4 girls and the service was terrible, the waitress took 1 hr to bring the check, we never got refills in our water, the drinks were so diluted like there was no alcohol in them, out waitress was mia all night, the decor and views are beautiful

It’s a beautiful place with delicious food. We loved absolutely everything we ordered! I had specified I wanted a table with a view so in my mind we would get one of their booths that look to the harbor. We were told those booths were for parties of 4 people. It was just my husband and I. I was quite disappointed but let me tell
you they sure made up for it. We still got a beautiful table, superb service and again, the food is delicious. We got complimentary champagne, appetizers and dessert because of the table situation. I was grateful and told them they did not have to give us anything for free but they graciously did. Definitely a place we will keep going back to. So glad we have a roof top in the city that is actually a restaurant and not just a bar.

The restaurant is super cute and has a great aesthetic. We had a reservation set for 8:00 but didn't end up getting to a table until after 8:30. They sat us in a waiting area where we could order cocktails but it started raining. Obviously the rain wasn't their fault but it was a bummer to have to wait over 30 minutes for a table we had a reservation for. It was a good experience overall and the staff was kind.

We had a reservation for outdoor seating and arrived 10 minutes early. We waited 40 min and were told it would be an additional 30-40 minutes for an outdoor table or indoors in a few minutes so we took the indoor table. Our waitress took drink orders and then started taking food orders but never got everyone’s order before disappearing for 15 minutes. We then were told we had a new waitress who completed the order. When main courses were arriving mine was not there. When we got a hold of a staff member, he checked and my order never made it to kitchen. By the time my food came everyone at the table was finishing. A casual sorry was the response. Not quite what I expect from a restaurant of this supposed quality. Disappointing! Beautiful venue.

We had a reservation at 7:45 and weren't seated until 8:30. The noise level was extremely loud throughout the restaurant which forced the diners to shout to be heard. When they finally seated us, it was under a speaker, which they refused to lower the level on, so we ended up leaving without ordering anything. Fortunately, we were still allowed to pay $18 for the valet parking. Will not return.

They first seated my elderly mother under the speaker in the back of the restaurant. I could barely hear and I know she couldn’t. When we asked to move, they moved us one table over. We had to be forceful to move away from the speaker and into one of the many open seats outside. The hostess excuse was that they were saving those for reservations….but we had reservations.

The server clearly didn’t know the menu. And he neglected to tell us it was family style until after he took our order. It was also hard to understand what each item was on the menu. Portions were meager with more butter than flavor.

The highlights were the assistant host who went to bat for us to move tables and the mozzarella sever.

Great view. But would not do again.

We enjoyed our orange wine and the pasta was good, but it will likely be a one and done place for me. I was kind of thrown off at first because I had arrived at 5:02pm for my 5pm open table reservation and told the hostess my girlfriend was running late. I asked if I could wait at the bar and she told me they were not ready for me yet. A bit confused I said, “ok, can I use the restroom?” She told me I had to go back down to the lobby so I did and came back up 10 minutes later. This time (I think it was a manager) greeted me and said, “Welcome back, your table is ready for you.” Then that same hostess comes back and says, “There you are my dear” and leads me to my table in front of their open air kitchen. I asked if I could move to one of the unoccupied exterior tables with the view and she told me they are already reserved. I then noticed the 4 top she sat near me was able to move to one of those unoccupied tables. Our server was nice and explained the menu well and so was the guy who poured us our wine (wine som?), but the managers and the chef all seemed a bit unfriendly and cold. Food wasn’t anything to rave about and neither was my Perfect Timing Cocktail. Decor up there is cool and they’re lucky they have a view, but all in all, it’s just a new place that still has a lot of work to do. I highly suggest training your staff to be a bit more hospitable. “Hi, Welcome to Seneca! Have you been here before? Thank you for joining us! The water closet is right over here…” instead of telling me I had to go back down to use the restroom. 😆 Etc. It would have been nice if there were managers who came around your tables asking how the guests are doing to help build some type of rapport.

Get the tableside mozzarella, split the porterhouse, grilled broccolini, and you will have a perfect meal. My only complaint is the table they sat 3 of us was very small which detracted from the experience. As food came to the table we had to shuffle plates and wine glasses. Otherwise everything was great and we'll be back. Beautiful design.

I was so excited to come here, but I caught this place on a bad night. It was pouring rain so it took an additional 45 minutes from our reservation time to get seated as they had to shuffle people indoors. This was fine, but it was frustrating to walk by several empty tables when we were finally seated. Food was GREAT! Mozzarella made in front of the table was to-die-for and fun to watch. Very good pizza and pasta and pretty ambiance. Unfortunately one of the servers accidentally spilled a half a glass of red wine on my sister and just walked away. We flagged down someone else to bring us club soda and a towel to clean her up. Might try this place again once it’s up and running in a few months!

The starters were great, however the dishes are very poorly timed. We ordered a pizza, pasta and chicken at the same time, the pizza came and about 30 minutes later the pasta arrived, another 30 minutes later the chicken arrived. We were unable to enjoy all at once as the dishes were soo poorly timed.
