Selden is rustic and casual, but with an ever-present eye for quality, creativity, and fun. Chef Andy Hollyday is a 2023 James Beard Foundation finalist and four-time semi-finalist. Selden Standard was also twice named a James Beard semi-finalist for Outstanding Restaurant (2024, 2025), and has been named Restaurant of the Year by both the Detroit Free Press (2015) and Hour Detroit (2016).

    Nice menu options, fresh food using local farmers. Service (Mark) was friendly and spot on with the level of attention. Our table tried more than half the food items and nothing disappointed.

    Every dish that we shared (broccoli salad, roasted mushrooms, bucatini, walleye, duck and sticky pudding) was wonderful! Our server was very helpful in coordinating our meal. Wine suggestions were spot on. Thoroughly enjoyable evening!

    The staff was great upon entry and wished us a happy anniversary. We sat at the chefs table, which we always recommend. The food was fantastic as always and came out promptly. This is out of character for Selden, but the music choice was too aggressive for the evening - techno straight out of a 2000s movie. Our waiter also didn’t checked in on us during our meal so we didn’t get a chance to order wine with our meal. Not a big deal, just out of character for the service and ambiance we usually experience at Selden.
