Seaweed Steaks, Seafood & Sushi
Dishes are prepared in three separate areas; the main kitchen, the sushi bar and the raw bar. Rather than offering individual starters and main courses, Seaweed serves dishes that are designed to be shared at the table or enjoyed individually, and are brought to the table continuously throughout the experience.
We’ve been there 7-8 times and have decided to give it another try. For some reason it never gets better. My steak tasted like smoke and was the size of a silver dollar. You can’t even get a side salad. Can’t complain about the drinks though
This was my third visit in three weeks. All were enjoyed and I am booked again for next week.
This was our first visit since the restaurant changed the name and style. We were very impressed with the menu and the great service from Lou. We will keep Seaweed as one of our go-to dinner spots for sure.
Very small portions of foo foo food. Bring back Marlin Darlins.
Very innovative menu selection with a variety of choices . Steaks, seafood and sushi, along with a fine wine selection. Knowledgeable servers help with menu and drink selections.
Chris T. Was a fantastic server. The chef left the kitchen tonanswer questions about food allergies, amd was totally accomidating. The bar had a womderful minty scent and the bar tender was personal even if she was a phillies fan. Robin the manager was awesome. I would totally recommend this place and return. I cant say enough good things about this place, the food or the staff. Thank you for a great meal.
The food was excellent. Chris T. was a very good waiter. Will definitely go back.
We loved our waiter Alexander! Great service and the food was great. Our group had the full scale of the menu: oysters, sushi, steak, scallops and specialty drinks. All was delicious and the raspberry tiramisu topped off the evening!
Perfect oysters, excellent kitchen and sushi could be improved.
The sushi was great , I order the scallops with ramen noodles - for the price 4 scallops and hand full of noodles for $19 wasn't worth it the amount gave should of been an appetizer. My fiancé order pork chop with sweet potatoes - the pork was rare and the sweet potatoes were hard and only 3 - lucky the waiter was allsome and took this off the bill - Portion to small for price, food not cooked properly
Only thing was good was the waitier , sushi !
Ask for Mathew. Great waiter. Food was fantastic. We has the salmon skewers and shushi.
Great meal with friends. New place where a different restaurant used to be. We will be back.
Quite unusual menu items. Not familiar with many of them, but everything we tried was delicious. Our waiter (forgot his name) but he is the one from Boston was fabulous. The atmosphere and service was great.
First time here with my family for our Florida visit. The service was great! We got the appetizer tower which was huge but the whole bottom layer was oysters. About 8 crackers on the top and some seafood spreads. Very disappointed with all the oysters.
The ambience was fantastic. Wine selection good. The food was good especially the zucchini spaghetti which I have never had before. But the steak was very dry for well done. I know I know its hard to make a well-done steak but it was about the equivalent of Longhorn. Don't get me wrong, Longhorn is good but for the money you would expect something a little more impressive.
Will probably go back and try the fish if we do decide to go again.
Wonderful service from the cheerful hostess to the fabulous server. We had Nathalie S. (French). My buddies and I had several drinks, a shrimp and calamari appetizer, shishito peppers, crab legs, Porterhouse steaks, and crab legs. Everything was delicious except the Porterhouse steaks were average. My buddy asked for his to be medium and it was medium rare to rare in a few places close to the bone. My steak was cooked right but flavor was good but not great and it was a. It tough. Overall everything was great. This is my fourth time at Seaweed. Sushi, Robata skewers, oysters and more were exceptional on those visits. Will definitely go back again and again.
We sat outside on a cool night and it was nice.
We loved the food, very interesting menu. Had a great time with friends.
Newer restaurant, great location. Robin called me personally to make sure she got my special request right ( wanted a bar table to watch the hockey game). She greeted us and made sure we had everything we needed. Disappointed that the fish snapper was out again but I guess that is the result of fresh fish being brought in! Ribeye was huge and we split it with fab sides! It was very tasty also. Great drinks, great service, great food!
Seaweed Grill of Belleair, FL offers modern and current vibe with casual, comfortable, and yet relaxed atmosphere, a welcoming hostess station, an oversized bar area with well trained staff, and private banquet room in additional to the sizable general seating area.
The fully packed parking lot is a clear testament that this newest restaurant, one of the recent additions from the Bay Start Restaurant Group, adheres to Frank Chivas' uncompromising standards and as always, exceeds all dining expectations.
Since it’s recent opening, I have become a regular of Seaweed for their extraordinary Sushi creations.
Don’t let the rather small Sushi bar at the front of the restaurant mislead you. Sushi chefs Suka, Bob, and James have gone out of their way to accommodate my somewhat challenging, and often out- of-the-ordinary, requests for custom rolls with ingredients that most of the local Sushi spots do not even typically offer, and have consistently managed to leave me and all my frequent guests wanting to come back for more every single visit.
Robin, the restaurant's manager is a true hands-on professional who takes guests’ satisfaction to the next level to guarantee a flawless and outstanding experience each and every time. Tony and Alex mix fantastic cocktails, and Chris T., Lou, Heather, and Will, provide exceptionally consistent and extraordinary service with the greatest attention to detail.
Based on this rather rare combination in the local restaurant scene – broad selection of fresh seafood and Sushi items, creative menu and presentation, outstanding value, exceptionally professional management, cleanliness, and consistently excellent service, I give Seaweed Grill a well deserves a 5 star review!!!
I cannot wait to come back for more and I am happy to share this hidden Sushi jewel with you, so you too can enjoy the best of the Tampa Bay beaches with an equally unforgettable dining experience!
Black Pearl Chicken is just amazing!!
Don't linger after dinner or they will send the manager over to give you the boot!
Wonderful Sushi, stone crab, and oysters!
Lue, our waiter, was knowledgeable and attentive — ask for him!
Food and service both excellent, second trip for dinner. Also visited for cocktails.
My husband and I frequent Seaweed :) we love the food.
The service is outstanding and the atmosphere enjoyable.
We would highly recommend it for a quick night out or an evening with friends.
We sat outside. It smelled very fishy inside. Good was good. Server made great recommendations.
The cauliflower side dish was exceptional as well as the baked oysters/manchego.
This was our first visit to this restaurant after having lived in the area for a year. I wish I had discovered this place sooner.
Service is first class: knowledgeable, attentive, friendly; just about as good as it gets. The surroundings are modern and very nice.....not crowded-feeling at all. There is nice outdoor seating at the entrance, and a bar outside as well. This area is fairly well screened from the parking lot and looks inviting. When it cools down, I would definitely like to be seated outside.
Inside: Upon entry, you can see sushi preparation at the front of the restaurant, with fresh offerings presented behind glass for viewing. From some tables, you can get a glimpse of another food preparation area in the restaurant, as well. Staff, from hosts to servers to attendants are professional and unpretentious.
I enjoyed my sushi very much; mouth-watering and very fresh; perfect. Arugula salad was incredibly fresh and pleasing, with accents of walnuts and a nice light lemony dressing. The menu encourages ordering smaller items one at a time, tapas style, and I like that very much. My partner had "buns" and pork chops and was very pleased with his meal as well.
Rather than wine, we ordered cocktails, which are generous on the alcohol, pleasing and well prepared.
Although sushi/sashimi is a feature of the menu, there is so much more on the menu to please anyone (candied Nueske bacon, anyone? delicious). We will be returning soon and will definitely bring guests here.
We went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. The oysters and sushi were the best we have had in Florida. And Natalie our server was by far one of the most professional we have ever had. We most definitely will go back soon.
The meals were all great. We had a calamari appetizer and the scallops and snapper for dinner. The portions weren’t huge, definitely a quality vs. quantity thing. We did feel the desserts really fell short given how good everything else was. We had key lime pie and crem brûlée, both of which were seemed like they had just come out of the freezer. While they were at least pretty good, they were disappointing in comparison to the rest of the meal. Service was ok, and the cocktails were alright. Nice atmosphere.
Hostess on phone 7 minutes before she could speak with me even though I had a reservation for that time . No grand cru or moscato wine available . No one with wine knowledge . Did not find robin Mgr helpfull and waiter did not understand complicated sushi hand roll ordered . The food was excellent and fresh . Frank needs to upgrade the quality of his staff if he wants this new format to truly work .
Pleasantly surprised by the make over of Marlin Darlin, food was great, drinks were good and the service excellent.
We frequent SeaWeed on a regular basis. Love the atmosphere and the food. Highly recommend this restaurant!
The filet was extremely tender and cooked just how I requested. Service (Brian) was attentive without being interruptive.
Our fist visit and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the service, attention to the customer and really good food. Keep it up!
This was our first experience. Regarding the food. I ordered the stuffed lobster because it was very affordable; only $20.00 and was a pound and a half. It was not, pretty small and not cooked all the way through. I would have expressed my disappointment but I never saw my waiter again. He never gave us more water, took the shells away, or asked if we needed anything else. I saw him at the end with the bill and a smile. I left a note and a 5% tip. I may try this restaurant again, not the same waiter.
Limited, but very interesting menu. The food was very good.
Had soft shell crab bun and the bun and crab were good however there could have been more crab and less bun!
We have been to Seaweed five times since they opened. Two of those visits were within this past week. I would have to say that Seaweed is one of our favorite dining spots.
The bao buns are delicious, the half shell oysters are perfectly shucked and served, the sashimi is fresh and delightful, and the entrees are perfectly prepared. The waitstaff are friendly and highly professional with a special thanks to Lue, Matt, et la pétillante Natalie for making us feel at home.
Bland food that was over priced. Will admit one of the sushi rolls were pretty good but not good enough to go there again. Service was okay but not great, had to wait forever to get my drinks filled.
Service was poor. Server gave incorrect information about the beer and menu items. Watched food sit at the pass for 8 minutes while server talked to coworkers at the bar. Would recommend the snapper “wings”- although they are not served with buffalo sauce like the server described. It was more of a Thai sweet chili sauce. Chance of returning is a 2 out of 5.
