Wonderful place making this my go to for a good night out
Food was great but service was very slow
Everything was delicious. I'm just picking, but there were some shells in the first of the 3 crab cakes. But other than that, everything was absolutely delicious!!
Wonderful food. Fabulous service on a crazy Valentine’s Day. They just know how to work it and deliver amazing food and service every time
The food was outstanding, unfortunately the service was, once again, subpar. We were there to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Two examples of poor service: 1) we asked for bread when our first drinks were delivered. We had to remind our wait person over 20 minutes later. It was finally delivered about the same time as our entrees arrived. 2) our entrees were delivered while our appetizer plates were still in front of us.
Regretfully (because the food has always been very good) we will not be going back. This is the third time in a row that service was an issue.
Usually our great go to place for an outstanding meal. This time we are disappointed. The automatic service fee that is now attached is also taxed. Not at all sure how much of this goes to the server. We did leave extra cash for the server as he did a great job. (Hopefully he got to keep 100% of that) The food - I’m not going to say great. Salmon was an incredibly small piece and way over cooked. Ahi was outstanding as was the poke we had for a starter. We will go back - but most likely only for happy hour.
GREAT food and GREAT service!!!!
Ambiance and seating location was good. No full set of silverware on the table, only a fork, no salt and pepper. Waiter was drooling while taking our order. Food was not that great. Over-rated restaurant.
We are regular patrons of Seastar. It is disappointing to find they have decided to demand an automatic tip on all services. Additionally this service fee is also taxed. The service has not changed and the evening we attended it took at least 10 minutes to get water.
Booked through open table and marked birthday for special occasion, but disappointed that the birthday wasn’t acknowledged and we weren’t asked if we were celebrating any special occasions. Not sure if there was a disconnect between open table and the restaurant. Other than that food and service was great.
This is a little on the expensive side, but it is worth it! I took my parents here for lunch when they were in town - they were on the fence about going there - but now, they can't wait to come back! I got the hooked on the Dungeness Crab Bisque.
Always excellent food and excellent service. This visit was no exception
Parking was easy. They were able to seat us earlier than our reservation time. The food was phenomenal! The staff was very attentive. We will definitely be back!
Food is always five star in my book. I loved the crab cocktail! My husband had a steak and loved that. Thank you for being there!
Awesome sushi and fish entrees. Roasted cauliflower is so good!
The food was superb, our server was very knowledgeable and sweet and the ambiance was perfect!
Beautiful dining experience from beginning to end. I always appreciate good service especially when the service charge of 20% is already included in your bill.
Beautiful place, slow service. Our waitress immediately let us know 20% gratuity is included, so maybe there's no incentive left for great service?
Food was great, but not as amazing as previous visits.
Food was great, service was great. I think we were lost in the bustle a bit as the first interaction took about 15 minutes but after that it was wonderful. This new 20% fee that restraunts are charging has me completely turned off. If I go there and you charge it, it will be the last time. This is the case with Seastar. I didnt come here to save money, raise your prices. Paying 20% to walk through the door is ridiculous.
Might have been an off night, usually great every other time we’ve gone. Food wasn’t seasoned, I don’t think at all. Wine glass wasn’t sure if was still wet or not washed, had to ask for another glass. Had reservations and still had to wait 15 and when we first got there they couldn’t even tell us how long it was going to be. Started think about option B. Bright side, the deserts were amazing. Like I said usually love this place, will be back again, maybe just a bad night.
We were one of the UNLUCKY tables seated next to the group table in the first of Seastar's 2 rooms. I have been seated near and away from this table of 14, in the past, but this weekend night it has 20 guests! VOLUME was pretty high at times and made conversation for our family of 3 hard. Staff was polite and explained that the party was booked for 14 but arrived with 20- should not have been the problem for the rest of the guests in the vicinity. I will be sure to specify by seating preference in the future and weigh more fine dining options on the Eastside.
Slightly overpriced and very, very noisy. Unable to carry on a conversation at our table of 4. Mark up on wine list was criminal.
The food and service were excellent tonight!!
Food and drinks were excellent, service staff was friendly and attentive. The space feels a little unrefined, but overall a very pleasant experience. Then I received the bill. That’s when I found out that Seastar charges a 20% service fee, none of which is passed on to the actual service staff. Incongruously, the service charge explanation states that Seastar employees are compensated above industry average, yet John Howie himself cites rising minimum wage as one of the factors necessitating this charge. My server was exceptional, and deserving of a tip, so I wound up paying double gratuity. In all, Seastar’s prices seemed appropriate to what I’m accustomed to paying for similar quality of cuisine and service (in Seattle as well as other markets), while the ambiance fell short. Seems Mr. Howie has just found a way to reap additional profit from his staff’s efforts. I won’t be back.
The quality of the food here is top notch. They show a lot of creativity and attention to detail in their seafood dishes. It is not overly pretentious. The prices are a bit high, but I didn't mind paying the automatic 20% gratuity knowing that it went to the wait staff. I was traveling and stopped on the recommendation of a colleague. Worth a detour.
Time after time Michelle and her team make our dinners joy to remember
Food was ok, but not worth price
Great food and service - but gets very, very noisy when the restaurant fills up. Hard to carry on conversations.
Food and service was top notch, but hostess tried to sit us at a crap table so it took some talking to get to an ideal dining location.
Menu is too dull and over priced. Its ok to have premium items but they should have some regular items and moderately priced so a couple can order a mixed group of items.
They don’t pretend to be a steak house yet they have steak and lobster with no baked potato.
There is no Wagu burger on the dinner menu; just in the happy hour bar menu.
The location is also dull with no traffic for exciting and vibrant evening.
My crab bisque was absolutely amazing! I however wasn’t very impressed with my fish. Overall it was a great time and I would dine here again but order something different for dinner.
We love Seastar a lot. The food service was really slow this time and especially between salad and entrée. About 30 minutes. I do not think is was our server, but the kitchen, as a number of tables around us seemed to be waiting for their food too.
We will be back however.
All good. Seastar is consistently great
My husband really likes everything. Our server was nice too. I personally like the crab cake and the grilled salmon fillet. The salmon was juicy and the sauce for the crab cake was unique. Molten Cake and coconut cream pie were good (weren't too sweet but flavorful). We will definitely be back !!!
I have never been disappointed as a patron of Seastar Restaurant.
Restaurant was nice, waitstaff did an outstanding job. We enjoyed our meal including some sushi, seafood samplers, lobster sandwich, and oysters. Will definitely be back to try more stuff on the menu
Excellent food excellent service.
Wonderful service perhaps the best we’ve had in a long time. Attentive but not too present engaging and checked on us Happy to see my fave on the menu again.
Food was excellent as always - service was slow and forgetful
CONSISTENTLY fabulous. Once again, we had a great experience at SeaStar. The service was impeccable. The menu selections were enticing and wide-ranging. The food was delectable. John Howie's teams never miss a beat.
