About Sea Salt - St Pete
SeaSalt is inspired by its location near the water and is dedicated to seafood and its accompaniments. Chef Fabrizio Aielli brings to his cuisine an infusion of the simplicity of Venetian home cooking, learned at his mother’s knee, along with the upscale and innovative techniques he has garnered during his years of practice in fine restaurants in Italy, the Caribbean and Washington, DC. He explores time-honored methods and melds them with the new, bringing a handcrafted and honest restoration of traditional dishes. As far as possible, ingredients are sourced from local producers and markets and the disherfolk. Chef Fabrizio Aielli is inspired by the mainstays of the seafood repertoire, using organic and local produce, wild caught seafood, poultry and meat raised naturally without hormones, antibiotics or animal by-products whenever possible, emphasizing fresh and seasonal ingredients.

Sea Salt - St Pete Ratings and Reviews
We went early on a Sat. night. The place is capacious, but divided into rooms/spaces that are comfortable. The overall atmosphere is cool/modern, with warming accents of wood. There is a large seafood bar at the front with a TV or two, but that vibe does not extend to the other dining areas. We found the waitstaff to be warm, polite, knowledgeable and alert. The wine list includes about 20 that are sold by the glass, and is otherwise extensive. The prices might suggest a formal atmosphere, but patron dress was varied--some men in jeans and caps, women usually dressing nicer. There were a few children about. Mushroom soup / tomato bisque were both good, poured from pitchers into the bowls containing mushrooms / goat cheese. We had snapper, grouper, and a few scallops, accompanied by sides of wild mushrooms and gorgonzola artichokes. All good. No room for dessert, but because it was our anniversary, we were treated with a bowl of cotton candy. We're smallish people, and when we return we'll have a different strategy, perhaps going for appetizers or bar items instead of mains, so we would have room for dessert. Also, some of the pasta dishes actually looked interesting.
There's "public valet parking" at the side; we parked across the street for $10; a block to the south the parking may be cheaper. At the entrance there are spices and salts for sale, as well as fancy chocolates, but we did not try any.
Had a late lunch. Modern, open interior with central bar seating with seafood filled counter. Clean and appealing without any unpleasant seafood odor. Staff are helpful and pleasant. We had mushroom soup and fried oyster appetizers—both very good. A roasted beet salad was devoured and the crabmeat stuffed avocado was good but not the best ever. There were few other patrons so conversation was easy without intrusive noise. Very seafood oriented. Would return
Huge disappointment!!! Went for lunch with my daughter and her friend to celebrate her homecoming. This was perhaps my 8th or 9th time I’ve been here...and now, my very last time. Service was great, restaurant is beautiful. Food, a different story altogether (except shrimp tempura appetizer which was, although a smaller portion than in the past, excellent). My swordfish sandwich came on an over cooked roll, soggy on the inside due to the texture of the bland tasteless tiny piece of swordfish. Everyone’s fries were cold. Burger was ordered medium, came almost raw —blood juices needed to be wiped off plate with napkin:(. Lobster sandwich was just ok — not worth the price though. Left feeling very disappointed in the overall poor quality of meal. Will not be returning.
We are food snobs and love our seafood. Sea Salt did not disappoint!! We started with oysters, had the tomato soup, tuna tartare and then the red snapper. It was all delicious and we ended up pairing our meal with a bottle on Sancerre. Our server, Brian was amazing. Really knowledgeable of the menu and unbelievably friendly! I highly recommend this restaurant.
This was my favorite restaurant. I brought a business collegue and was totally embarrassed. Her soup came out cold, dirty spoon, and when another soup eventally came, it was salty. When the manager came and ask us , how was the food, we expressed our dissatisfaction. He said, I will tell the Chef. No apology; no suggestion of another type of soup or appetizer. He appeared to be going to the motion.😏
The waiter appeared to be anxious. He appeared to rush me, starting to take my plate before i was finish eating.
This visit was nothing like my other experiences. Will be a long time before i return..😑
Magnificent restaurant with regards to food, ambiance and staff! Will definitely return. They have a lunch menu as well - which is very affordable (something you wouldn't think of when walking into this restaurant). And they have Happy hour - the prices are very low...the food offered for Happy hour is amazing! There is nothing bad to say about Sea Salt other than don't be intimidated by the way it appears...take a look inside and look at the menus. Oh...and you HAVE TO TRY the Calamari!!! The best I ever had!
Beautiful day in downtown St Petersburg and Sea Salt greeted us with friendly enthusiasm. Overlooking the Sundial we had a lovely outdoor lunch with excellent service. The bread and various exotic salts with oil was delicious and interesting. Great oyster platter with a mix of eastern and western and a note on the type. The best tomato and mushroom soups, EVER! Delicious fish tacos and fresh, wonderful crab and avocado for our entrees. Looking forward to our next visit and definitely recommend.
I made reservations for 2 people, a week ahead of time. I got a call the day of telling me that their online reservation system doesn't let people pick indoor or outdoor seating so we might get one vs the other. That's kinda crappy in my opinion. We got there, and outside seating was all that was really available (without having to wait). So, we sat outside. Which might have been fine EXCEPT that the Sundial has these super-loud, "snow" making machines that were on either side of the dining area and they turned on for 10 minutes every half hour. And whatever the heck the "snow" was made of, wasn't actually water and kept landing in our food and drinks (if the "snow" had been made of water, it would have left droplets and it wouldn't have bubbled up when landing in our drinks). I can't really fault the restaurant for this because they had no control over what their landlord did but it didn't make for the nicest ambiance.
