Mothers Day we had a great time, my wife loved everything about our visit. Price was reasonable. We hung out for the day at the pool and beach, it was perfect. I had a question about the menu a few days prior, when I called the restaurant they told me the manager would return my call. I figured it was just a line, but the Manager called me back within ten minutes and answered my question. The following day I received another call from Don Cesar confirming that all of my concerns had been addressed. Excellent!
We made reservations online via OpenTable for Mother's Day Brunch. At the time of the reservation, we were told it would be $65 per adult, including unlimited champagne. The child's price was discounted. When we arrived at the hotel, there was a considerable amount of confusion, starting with parking (the lots stated that parking would be $25), and there was no street parking in the area. Eventually we were told that the restaurant would validate the parking ticket. Inside the hotel, there was a long line of people who were told to wait to "register." Once we got to the registration desk, we were told we did not have a reservation for the formal Mother's day brunch, but rather "downstairs." We were dressed up for what we thought would be a more formal dining experience. Instead, we were seated in a dining room with no view, surrounded primarily by hotel guests in their very casual wear. The brunch downstairs was a typical hotel breakfast, nothing spectacular and we were then told the price was $29 per person. The manager was very nice, apologized for the mistake, and gave the adults complimentary mimosas. She did offer to try to find us a table "upstairs" but the price was now $85 per person, and it was very crowded so we did not try to move. Although our breakfast was fine, it was nothing special, which is what we were trying to find for Mother's day.
We love dining outside by the pool. The food was great and so was the service.
Don Cesar has lost the Panache it had for years ... A Chick-Filet is classier and way cleaner ...
TOOOOO BADDDDD !
1] no draft beers CO2 cartridge out
2] waitress just OK
3] french fries cold returned them and they put the original ones back in fryer and brought them out again
4] mahi mahi on tacos overcooked
Our Mom and Dad have been wintering in Florida for 20 years. My sister and I just discovered that a visit to Don Cesar had been in Moms bucket list! So we surprised her with lunch at the Sea Porch. Our main feedback concerns the pacing of the food service. We ordered cocktails first. Shortly after, Shana-Kay, our waitress, took our order for appetizers and mains. The chowders and salad appetizers arrived so quickly—we had barely started our cocktails! But there were no spoons for the chowder. The napkin rolls contained only a fork and knife. We flagged down our waitress, who promised to bring them, and as the chowder cooled, we tried helping ourselves to other napkin rolls (no luck) and finally diners beside us gave us their teaspoons. Our waitress eventually brought us the soup spoons. Minutes later, chowder bowls still full, the server brought our mains! We had to rearrange all the dishes on the table to accommodate the large plates. Not the best planning on the part of our waitress or the kitchen. Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the waitress to time when the food is brought to table?
On a positive note, we had a lovely time after lunch visiting the beach and listening to Mitchel sing and play his guitar at the poolside bar. Overall, mission accomplished!
The short ribs were excellent. The shrimp cocktail was just average!
Extremely mediocre. Service was nice. Menu is light on the fresh fish and the sea in the name of the restaurant is close but not visible. Chilled shrimp were good. Crab and shrimp bisque was gluey with more bacon than seafood flavor. Mahi mahi was fine but bland. Very underwhelming.
Incredible variety of cuisine for the Easter holiday unlimited mimosas, great service!
Despite its name this is not a good place for local seafood. Also menu doesn't match what is on website. Overpriced and closed in without much view (again opposite to name).
The food quality was so-so. Not what you’d expect from such a nice resort.
Ambiance by the gulf was lovely. Waiter was friendly but forgot to bring the water we requested. My wine pinit grigio was watery and pricey at $14 and the salad was mediocre...tons of greens and very little of everything else...feta cheese, etc. Certainly not worth $34 for lunch. I've had better food at half the price.
Not what you would expect from the Don. Food, service and hostess all not good.
Overall a disappointing experience...
Excellent service good food. Nice atmosphere
Really enjoy the Don Cesar
Young female manager was apathetic when I made a suggestion
Terrible service. We waited 2 hours for our meals. The place is run by people who don't know what they're doing. Lots of 'staff' standing around talking at the reception area. We received our drinks 45 minutes after being seated. We had to ask for an ice bucket for the wine, as the waiter had simply 'plopped' the bottle on the centre of the table. The restaurant was not busy, even though it was Saturday March 17 - St. Patrick's Day. Many, Many other restaurant patrons left without being served. We were told that The hold-up for the food was because the kitchen is under staffed, they are preparing meals for room service and the bar/outdoor area as well as the Sea Porch. My family has been coming to the Don Cesar for many years to dine. It was a tradition to meet family and friends from Toronto Canada here during the March Break. Since under new management, the place is really bad. We will not be returning .
Well beside fantastic location I do love to come for breakfast or brunch Very attentive service. Never had an issue once. Thank you!! Keep doing a great job!
Great food and service. Had a couple of unique, taste drinks
Not thrilled about the raw oysters
Patricia was our wait person and she was fantastic. Service at this venue is 5 star plus.
There was nothing wrong with our experience - I expected to be “wow’d” and was not. My salad was “ok” my braised short ribs were good. Our server was very pleasant but not always available. I expected more from the Don CeSar.
It was our first experience at the brunch. I would not call it decadent like they say in the advertising but it was very good. Everything we tried on the brunch was good. The setting is very nice. Service was also good. Only hiccup was that they cleaned our table while we were getting food... so coming back to the table our silverware and coffees were gone. But our server made up for it and offered a complimentary mimosa for our inconvenience. Thought it was a very nice attention from our server Patricia who was not the one that took our stuff away but apologized several times for it too. A little pricey but overall we are very happy with our experience and will certainly come back for more
We sat outside and it was lovely. The short ribs, fish tacos, and tomato bisque were delicious. Service slow but pleasant.
HORRIBLE SERVICE! Had a waitress from Dayton, Ohio. I did not catch her name. We were a Party of 5. Had to contact the Hostess Desk to get plates cleared, more water, new silverware, etc., etc. The Hostess Desk was crowded with three staff members engaged in conversation. When I asked for assistance they asked me what table number I was seated at. HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT? It appeeared they were ready to leave thier shift and counting the minutes.
Food was OK. Short ribs were dry, Champagne was good. Bacon was good.
Totally CLUELESS staff. No Manger to be seen anywhere.
Reception area staffing was Very Poor. Right hand didn’t know what the left hand was doing. A reservation didn’t help the situation. Our waitress was the bright spot of our visit. Fish tacos were poor. Cobb salad with chicken on top was dry. Drinks were expensive as can be predicted for this hotel, but the food was disappointing.
The parking situation is a travesty;no signs of where to park, the hotel valet had nothing to do with the restaurant, it would cost $25 to park if you parked in their lot for more than two hours. Fortunately, we found on street, metered parking by a boat launch. The food was pretty good but they were slammed and two servers called off and it was slow. Overall it was okay but I don’t think I would go back, there are too many places that offer excellent food and service every time we’ve gone there
Beautiful scenic and historic site and restaurant. Appreciated complimentary parking. Good food and surroundings. Great time to share with friends.
Service was awful. We waited 45 minutes before bread and salad was brought to the table.
The service was terrible. A group of four left after an hour. We ate but complained. Another table was given their meal free due to bad service. Long waits.
Very nice ambiance good food with wide range of choices braised short ribs particularly good
Still love and recommend the Don and this restaurant but service was a little off this time. We were served drinks and dinner in a very reasonable time and a manager and server followed up shortly to check all was to our liking and then no further attention such as checking for another drink or a dessert menu after dinner. After dinner we finally had to flag some one down to please get us our check at least 20 mins after they cleared our table. The manager apologized and comped our one drink so they did make an effort to make amends which is very commendable. We would have certainly had another cocktail or two and dessert but it was still a lovely evening.
Noisy poor service wanted a table outside but sat inside. Poor value for the price
The restaurant and the food were good. Expensive, but very good. However, our experience was marred by the parking situation. We pulled into the parking lot and took a ticket. There was no sign that said anything about a time limit. We assumed that the ticket would be validated at the restaurant and there would be no charge. Turns out, the parking is free for two hours only. We didn't know that. We stamped out literally at two hours and five minutes. Five minutes extra! and were charged $26.95! After paying for an extremely expensive meal. We will not be going back and do not recommend this restaurant or hotel.
Specialty cocktail ( blueberry infused bourbon Julie) was excellent
Waiter informative, helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating for our separate checks request
The food was very slow in arriving. It would have helped if there were bread or crackers served while waiting. Very surprised that there wasn't at least something while we waited!
My salad ( cranberries, pecans, feta cheese) didn't have enough dressing.
The garlic fries were good.
Bottom line: Expected much better from this high end resort hotel restaurant.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend the smoked trout spread. Wonderful place to dine!
A lovely place to enjoy breakfast outdoors!
Service excellent ambiance lovely
Food great Possibly could have more lunch choices in Brunch menu. Lots of breakfast dished
So disappointed with this place and we were looking forward to it. The server was good and very sweet but the food was mediocre at best. Got a foul smelling stone crab on a shellfish plate. We were a party of 5 and 18% gratuity was added without comment which seemed a little underhanded. The valet at $25 was the biggest ripoff and a very long wait in a very poorly run driveway. Again was really hoping for a better Sunday brunch experience.
We were treated to Brunch while visiting from out of town. Disappointed, to put it mildly. Long wait for server to notice us, poor quality Mimosa, small selection of food for an outrageous price, no carving station. Could go on and on, but not necessary! Hotel was beautiful and well appointed as advertised!
Excellent Sunday brunch. Service is outstanding. Thank you
