Great food and service. View was spectacular. It aas a bit strange that the hostess was cleaning menus while we waited to be seated. Just seemed a bit out of place for a nice place.

We went on a Saturday night. Glad we made reservations ahead of time! Got to sit by the window and have a view of the coastline just after sunset. Food and service was great. Will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

We had an awesome time celebrating our friend’s birthday at Schooners. The Hostess was very friendly and courteous. She was able to accommodate our request to be seated by the window with the fantastic view of the ocean. The server was also very attentive and we appreciate her always checking on us the entire time we’re there. We had calamari, cioppino and sea bass.
We were all completely satisfied with our delicious food and would love to come back again.

We had a great dinner at schooners coastal kitchen& bar. The lamb was our favorite dish and my surf and turf was also delicious. Staying at the hotel made it very convenient to arrive easily at the restaurant and we were seating promptly. I would recommend making an early reservation as the view is gorgeous. We would definitely eat here again when in Monterey.

My family and I were at Schooners to celebrate my mom's birthday, there were 4 of us. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation. We were seated quickly at a table with a beautiful view. We were greeted a couple of minutes after being seated and were told that we would be given a few minutes to look at the drink menu. Almost 25 minutes later the manager came over to take our drink order because our server was busy. Not a big deal. About 5 minutes after that our waiter came back and took our food order. Our salads were served before our drinks came out to us. When the drinks came, my sister-in-laws martini had the wrong vodka and was not dirty as she had requested. My brother and I had both ordered the Sword Fish Steak which had a description that said it would come with artichokes and I believe basil tomatoes. What we received was sword fish that had a strong burnt flavor drowned in a tomato sauce of some kind. We could not find the artichokes in the sauce.
(3) of us at the table worked in restaurants for many years and understand things happen and I have never written a bad review before. However, this was a special occasion that was ruined for my mom because of the multiple issues. Unfortunately we will not be returning and I will not be recommending this restaurant.

The lobster was tough, the oysters on the half shell were so small they should not have been allowed to serve them. Lobster cooked well should be flaky and melt in your mouth and oysters on the half shell should plump and bigger than a dime. My lamb shank was delicious but the gnocchi was undercooked and the cauliflower burnt. The only redeeming part of the meal was the wine! It was delicious

Going in I knew the prices were going to be high, ive eaten here before. Though I could find something I liked my husband struggled. We both ended up with meals that were ok. I liked this restaurant a lot better before it was renovated into schooners ( several years ago) it was a “nicer” ambiance then, more choices on the menu and overall a better restaurant.

Had the Sable which was underwhelming. Clam chowder was lacking clam and taste. Lamb shank was huge and friend said it was good. Wife had swordfish. Too much red sauce and steak was thin. Average at best. Wine was good. Probably won't be back and won't recommend.

Schooners is a great location for dinner and lunch and breakfast! We’ve had one dinner there, and the service was exceptional the ambience was good, but the food wasn’t worth the five star rating.

The service was friendly, attentive and efficient. The food was less enjoyable for two reasons. First, we had calamari as a Starter for the table. It arrived so promptly that we suspected that it had been prepared in advance. Upon tasting it, we were more convinced of our suspicions. It was almost soggy to our touch and taste buds. Second, as so many restaurants seem to believe these days, Schooners seems to think quantity equates to quality.

Seating really bad. Noisy and not a place for couples romantic special evening out. Very large load groups ruined the entire evening. Food was expensive and not so good

Superb! We were impressed and had not anticipated the great meal we enjoyed at Schooners. We drove up from Southern California, traveling through Monterey and into the Napa wine country. Of all the fine meals we had in Yountville and Napa, in highly regarded fine restaurants, Schooners turned out to be our hands down favorite. The freshness and flavors of the cioppino were perfection, as were all our other dishes. Exceptional. Wish we lived a few hundred miles closer...

The food was fantastic! Calamari was crisp and fresh, te clam chowder was creamy and very flavorful, the best I’ve had so far! Seafood pasta was delicious, the seafood was cooked perfectly, not tough and chewy like so many other places. All of this plus the warm break and the amazing praline caramel dessert, set off our whole experience and made it so worth it. Plus, free Valet!

I consider myself a foodie, and did not find the food quality justified what they were charging for the dishes. Also, we had a late dinner and the restaurant was practically empty, and service was slow, food took a long time to come out, and was cold when it came out -- as if it had been sitting for 5 minutes and someone just forgot to bring it out. Very disappointing.

Impeccable service from our server Steve. He was knowledgeable, thoroughly professional, welcoming, gracious and went out of his way to give us a great experience on our wedding anniversary dinner. Food was good but some dishes were too rich.

Service was good, but food was not worth the price. The filet mignon and rib eye that we ordered did not taste good, and was way over priced for what I got. We went to McDonald’s after to fulfill our appetites.

Great experience at this slightly hard to find restaurant, it’s down one level from the main floor. We arrived in the evening, however there was still a fireplace lit outside and the views I’m sure are incredible. There are large glass windows looking out into the ocean, with perfectly positioned booths facing the windows, that’s where we sat. My wife had the bisque which was fantastic, save your table bread for when the soup arrives! Great service overall and great option for both hotel guests and others.

We celebrated our 5th anniversary after a fun day at point lobos. We arrived happy and hungry. The service we got was exceptional! Very kind and pro with personal touch. Everything we ordered was done perfectly - the soup, salad, the seafood dishes, gnocchi with mushrooms and the drinks! We will come back again next time we are in the area!

Crab bisque was great. Angry prawns was tasty. Sword fish was better than expected. Octopus was forgettable. Sablefish was very under seasoned. Our waiter was the worst. Didn’t tell us the specials, didn’t bring water, or bread. Couldn’t make any recommendation. We were very jealous of the waiter for the next table. That’s how we found out about the specials.

We ate at Schooners over the holidays. The service was fantastic and our food came out quickly. All of the staff was super friendly and attentive and we never had to wait to get water refilled or fresh bread.
The food itself was underwhelming. We started with the tuna sashimi. The tuna was fresh but the rice was super boring.
We had the clam chowder which they split for us which was nice. It was very rich and good.
My husband had the grilled octopus which he enjoyed.
The steamed clams were last. They read as little necks on the menu, but they aren’t. The broth needed something- more garlic and/or white wine.
Our son had the chicken strip meal which was very good.
Perhaps the entrees are a bit more exciting. We are those people who prefer to order several appetizers and share vs a large entree.

Love this place! Except this year (Christmas evening) we were put at a table out in the open closest to the kitchen and it was loud and distracting with employees bustling by. Love, love , love their Shaved Brussel Sprout & Marcona Almonds Salad and they have the best Mac & Cheese (side dish) I have ever had! Hoping they will continue to be on the menu. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants in Monterey!

Christmas Eve dinner was delicious. We ordered appetizer of clams and octopus. Both were well prepared although the octopus had a slight chew, but clams were perfectly done. Entrees of chioppino and sturgeone not over cooked and full of flavor
Really appreciated that the bowls the food was served in were hot which kept the food hot the entire time. Servers were great and thank them for a enjoyable Christmas Eve.

Had dinner here and ordered the halibut special, along with clam appetizer and chocolate dessert. The steamed clams was really good, and soup not too salty. The halibut was good but feel like it was slightly overcooked. The dessert was good but a bit overly sweet. We made a reservation and they did not sit us next to the window (ocean views), even though we were one of the first parties there, and restaurant was largely empty when we arrived. We asked to be moved, and they did move us. They said that in order to sit next to window we have to request it on reservation. Make a note of that if you make a reservation.

Otherwise, the experience was very pleasant and dinner was good.

While there are very few vegan options on the menu, the waiter and chef on the restaurant side were wonderful about modifying for us. The result was absolutely delicious. The bar side of Schooners was fun, but the wait staff didn't have the ability to cater to our nutritional preferences as well. Still, they do have a vegan burger that was quite good. The setting is beautiful and waterfront and we loved it.
