Our server, Logan, was informed, charming, and got everything perfect.
Food was excellent but the service made the evening delightful,
We always like Sbicca. The food, view from upper level, and service was so great when we ate dinner there. One of our favorite entrees is the short rib meal. It is so tasty and the meat falls apart with the aid of your fork. The staff is so friendly and prompt. We shall return again!
Sbicca did not disappoint! We were chilly so we sat on the covered patio area and the heaters were perfect. Just enough to keep us warm but not over bearing. Our waitress was great!
The food was Amazing. We shared 2 plates because we each could not decide whether we wanted fish or steak. We shared the seabass and the filet and each was prepared perfectly. The risotto with the seabass was so good, and the stuffed mushroom with the steak was super tasty. We also ordered the Bacon Mac and Cheese and the Brussel Sprout sides that were both phenomenal.
We finished with the Brownie dessert and that was delicious as well. We will definitely go back next time we are in town!
Had the Pork Prime Rib. If you have never had it, don't miss the opportunity to order it.
Sbicca is one of Del Mar's most wonderful restaurants--family-owned, very much a neighborhood place but also welcoming to tourists. The servers are great--helpful, friendly, low key.
Food was bad. All 5 plates were bad. 3 had to go back.
We come here every couple of months and the food is usually great and so is the service. Our experience on mother’s day was disappointing. We had a reservation, and after waiting a long time, ended up in the bar, no view, in front of the tv. Food was okay, just a disappointing outing for a special occasion.
Mother’s Day brunch. Food was OK but not as good as other brunch options that are leas expensive. Seating up top was tight. The servers and other guests could barely squeeze behind my chair which was annoying. And, seems like a small thing, but with two kids, the amount of butter and jam for 3 popovers was scant.
Tried this restaurant because it had an ocean view. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. However we were able to sit on another terrace completely out of the elements. The food was tasty, but the desserts were fantastic! Celebrating my daughter's birthday and they even comped her dessert of choice. We will definitely be going back.
Food was very good and atmosphere great! We sat on the upstairs deck and beautiful view!
Very good as usual.
Great brunch - including tasty pop-overs for the table.
Recommend Sbicca! We were there last late on 5/3/18 for great food and relaxing dinner. Service was very good, everything worked out well and server was very accommodating. We shared crab cake appetizer which was zesty, creamy center and crispy outside and garnished with roasted mustard greens which was a tastey surprise. I had salmon dish, good with nice charmoula atop it and very good vegetables underneath, Also tasted the scallops special, which was super, loved the sauce, the scallops and the vegetables, and we shared the cauliflower gratin (spiked with truffle oil) and enjoyed it very much. We started with two great cocktails, one grapefruity one and one whiskey-based drink. We enjoyed a sauvignon blanc 1/2 bottle but I can't remember which one. Fortunately one of the hostess intercepted us as we were being seated and found us a more appropriate table or we would not have been so DELIGHTED. Also was a bday dinner and provided a complementary bread pudding dessert that was delicious. Thanks Sbicca for a wonderful night out.
Awesome food choices! We both ordered salads. I have only been there for dinner so my friend was asking me for lunch recommendations. I asked our server for lunch recommendations and the suggestions were awesome! Thank you for an incredible and healthy lunch!
It was a beautiful evening and we sat upstairs which we had not done before. We had a beautiful ocean view. Our waitress was such a quiet soul but to a fault, servers should be a little more outgoing. The food was fantastic! The drinks were great! We will definitely be back.
Beautiful setting, great service and delicious food
Everything it is cracked up to be - a neighborhood gem that consistently delivers great food, exemplary service and terrific ambiance.
First time here. It blew away our expectations!!!! Can’t wait to go back!!
We had a delicious dinner at Sbicca while visiting San Diego. We sat on the back upper patio and had a beautiful view of the sunset. Service was excellent and so was the food. I highly recommend the fried chicken dinner and pot de creme dessert.
We scored a beautiful second floor outside table for 6. Great service, good seafood (we had halibut, bass, salmon, ahi, shrimp, crab cakes...all very tasty and presented well). Lovely evening. Thank you Vinny for your service.
Delicious food, we all enjoyed the choices and special accommodations to the menu made for us. Great service.
Located in a nice area with a pretty view. Food was not good.
This is our third time to Sbicca, and it was a good as ever. We were celebrating two birthdays with 8 people and had the wine room, which was awesome. My wife and I have dined at the standard tables, which were great as well, but the wine room is perfect for a party of 8-12 people. We had a variety of appetizers, entrees, wine, cocktails and desserts. Everyone really enjoyed the food and drinks. The atmosphere, food and drinks were complemented by excellent service. We will definitely be back.
First time at Sbicca. Fabulous and our server was the best!
Although we have had many good meals at Sbicca, this was clearly an "off night."
Our server ordered the wrong item for our shared side and apologized, but didn't comp us.
The runners tried to deliver food for other tables to our table twice, and they also served only 3 of us and we all had to sit and wait until they finally brought the 4th order (which was the same shrimp as one that had been delivered).
Sadly, the sole was completely dry and basically in edible. The bed of spinach under it was so overcooked, it was tasteless. I didn't send it back because I didn't want to create a problem for my fellow diners, but it was not up to the normal Sbicca standards.
Wonderful fish tacos - recommend grilled over fried.
Amber was fantastic. Good cocktails and food.
Made reservations for the front patio , for a birthday celebration. Called to ensure happy hour menu was served on the patio. Arrived , sat down , was told no happy hour menu on the front patio. Even though I confirmed and it is a public patio and patrons can sit without ordering?
Mentioned my reservation and birthday celebration. Was asked to move to the side patio.
No ambiance... no attention to providing a "birthday" dessert.. which I also asked about when I called. Embarrassed and not happy with the evening. I am a local resident and have many dining options. Additionally, next to us, a table had 2 LARGE dogs with them.. which were being catered to with table food and in the walk way.
They said they had vegetarian dishes, yet when we got there they was no such dishes to purchase.
I was out with my daughter who was visiting from out of state. She is a vegetarian and we went there because they said on line they had food for her . but nothing when we got there she had to order a mishmash of things put together so she could eat. The staff was nice and friendly but they did not have food for my daughter . Very disappointing.
As usual, the food and service was great. We always go to Sbicca when in the San Diego area.
Met with cousins for an evening; the servers were great, martini was good. I ordered a fish dinner, the beet salad had sticks (or stems?) in it (once I picked them out it was good, but the lack of attention to detail was not good) The fish was terribly overcooked, and I do suspect it was a purchased frozen breaded fish. IDK for $28 it was just OK, I would not order again. My husband ordered short ribs, he said it was just so so, the portions were small, I noticed our cousins had pasta, again the portions were small. We are foodies and good cooks ourselves, but really I would not go there again, it was on a Thursday evening and the place seems popular.
WE had a nice brunch/lunch in the dining room. It was Easter and so the restaurant was busy and a bit chaotic with all the children but we did enjoy ourselves. The menu was sufficient to please our two grandchildren and ourselves. We always enjoy Sbicca for the menu and ambiance. Servers were very pleasant and efficient despite the holiday chaotic bliss.
Service was excellent! And so was our menu selections!
Very enjoyable. Gotta save that last star for the extraordinary but this was really great.
It was freezing at our table despite having a reservation well in advance and requesting to be somewhere warm. Was a constant battle to keep the heaters turned on (as others further away from the chilly windows were warm). I run on the cold side, but don't think I should be cold even with a heavy coat on.
Food took a long time to come out and entrees were cold once they did arrive.
Overall mediocre. I'd go back for the view for lunch or early evening dinner, but not good for a special occasion especially given the price.
Love the new menu and the updated decor. Wonderful service and awesome food. Highly recommend!!
