One of our favorite restaurants. Food is delicious and service outstanding.
Braised short ribs are excellent
Always delicious! Love their new vegan entree.
We had a great experience here! Food was fantastic and service was even better. Open table screwed up and pushed our reservation back one day so we showed up and didn't actually have a reservation but they make sure to squeeze un in super quickly anyways. Our server was named Grady and he was incredible as well!
The service was fantastic. Our server was very attentive and kind but not hovering or pushy. I haven’t had that good of a server in a long time. The gelato/sorbet was also AMAZING (worth the 30 min drive to dinner!!). Unfortunately, our dinners were average. They were not bad by any means, but I’m not jumping to go back based our dinners. I’m more likely to try other new restaurants than immediately go back.
Food was great as was the service. It was a great place to go for a night out.
Most of our food was outstanding. Great appetizers, wonderful fresh fish. My beet salad however had very very little dressing or flavor, that was a miss, and my crabcake, which was my entree was stone cold on the inside.Deep fried, just wasn't cooked right.. I sent it back and came back exactly the same way.Totally cold on the inside.. I couldn't eat it. The waiter should've comped that I felt, as it was a total fail.. My guests enjoyed their dinners, ambiance was great. Waiter was fairly attentive... Would recommend, but make sure you ask for your crabcake to be thoroughly cooked 😉
Being one of my favorite places over
the years this visit was extremely disappointing. We were seated outside, but within hearing range of the loud men in the bar, and it was only noon. Often we had to yell over the noise to be able to talk to each other. Waitress left a lot to be desired. She was fairly inattentive and kept forgetting to bring additional items we had asked for.
As far as the food went we both ordered surf and turf tacos. The meat was tough and other then some shrimp the only other thing on it was some lackluster cabbage. It was served on a soggy corn tortilla. The side salad was just arugula.
Also 2 dogs got into an altercation, within the dining area. I rarely write this kind of review, but I was so disappointed with this experience.
As much as this restaurant has been one of my go to in Delmar I doubt I will ever return.
It was a quit Sunday evening, we initially had the upper deck for ourselves. great food and service, as usual.
Horrendous! Sat outside it was soaking wet from the fog. There was no barrier between us and the sidewalk and practically no one in masks. When we entered the hostess was grumpy and told us we had 90 minutes to eat even before we had sat down. We had an appetizer and left as quickly as we could.
Good food and overall service was ok. I was a little put off that in the beginning they told us the table had a 90-min. limit, I had never experienced that before and was a turnoff.
Was given wrong drink. Wait or didn’t write down and then went another table with more guests and took their order. Once he brought back the second drink it was very weak and then my husbands drink was not made correctly. He’d have been better off not being so cool at presentation and listening better.
Food was delicious as always. We are regulars but disappointed this night.
Also, tables were too close, even if outside. Not close to 6 feet away.
Great food, great service.
I like to bring customers here for lunch.
Driving through on way from SD to Long Beach. The pics looked so good so we had to stop! We also marked it for our next trip south
The food was great as usual and the server was very friendly and attentive.
Food was good but service not up to par. Our waitperson was more interested in talking to his friends at the bar than taking our order after he told us we only had a 90 minute timeframe at our table. Good atmosphere and food though. A great restaurant. I was surprised that so many people at the bar were not social distancing.
My party of three celebrated a birthday at Sbicca. When reserving, I requested a table on the patio and noted that we were celebrating a birthday. We received a table outside and enjoyed an amazing meal!! I asked for a special food request, when ordering and it was not a problem. The food was prepared to perfection and delicious. We ordered 2 appetizers - Bao buns and calimari. Both were $15.00 each - a bit pricey, but again delicious. Our server Julia, was well versed on the menu and very attentive. Even though we stated we were celebrating a birthday, nothing was said or done. No biggie. We ordered a dessert - creme brulee. It was creamy and sweet, and perfect way to end an enjoyable meal.
Always top notch food and service
Really great food and service!
Sbicca never disappoints. Great food, great service, and love the atmosphere.
We ate there twice in one week, the first time on the rooftop and the second time downstairs outside the bar. While the rooftop is certainly a preferable place to sit, both times the service was great, the food was delicious, and the wine delicious. We went on the 1/2 price wine days which was a great savings and we were able to treat ourselves to wines we might not have ordered otherwise.
This is a lively place. We sat outside on the front patio, nice location. The bar was full, inside with lots of people watching the baseball game, cheering, hanging all over each other with no masks on. The tables outside felt too close for comfort. I had the fried chicken, it was just ok. The combination of mashed potatoes and roasted corn was tasty, but not warm. Two pieces of chicken, a bit too well cooked. We split a wedge salad which a
Was excellent. My husbands short ribs were good he said. The service after we received our food was pretty Non existent.
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Highly recommended.
The food tasted great and the service was too. The only issue I have with this place is the price. It makes sense for locally caught halibut to be expensive. What doesn’t make sense is charging 15 dollars for a few small pieces of fried chicken in a steam bun. But it sure did taste good.
One of our go to places in the village. Service and friendliness as it should be. I had a great filet. Perfect old fashioned. Go back every time
It was recommended for me to go to this restaurant however my experience was not good. The seating was very poor, done in a walkway. Our dinner was rushed by server so they could seat other people. I would not be back here again to dine
Best place to dine in DelMar. Great wine list.
We've eaten out at a number of prior haunts in Del Mar recently and everyone seems to struggle with food quality in our COVID times. We thoroughly enjoyed being out, but the food was little bland. Meat as high quality as previous? Enjoyed the evening, but food quality impacts overall value score. So thankful restaurants are still in business!
Always come to Sbicca when we are in town. Actual Menu is quite different from what you will see on theIr website. Lobster bisque was mediocre, overall food was so so. Hard for restaurants right now, but if you are open, make sure what you offer us still excellent, even if the offerings are limited.
A rare date night treat, fantastic in every way. Was my first time here in about 12 years or so, and was even better than I remembered. We were nervous about dining out during COVID times, but we were seated along the side in the back which during non-COVID time would have been meh but at this time it was perfect. The drinks (margaritas) were incredible, the food fantastic (fish tacos and salmon), and the portions surprisingly large (I was expecting the fine dining nibbles - wrong!) HIGHLY recommended.
Great apps selection, managing to all of the COVID needs. Great service!
Great food and we’ve been there twice. The first time was so good we went back for a second visit. Night and Day experiences based on where we were sitting. The first time we were seated out front which was lovely. The second time we were seated on the side of the building which just felt unsafe during Covid. The noise level was high so diners were talking loudly and the tables were close together. It didn’t appear their was any different than PreCovid it felt like a Bar environment. We eat out often and this was the first time I didn’t feel safe eating out.
The food was very good especially the appetizer with fried chicken in a doughy taco-like preparation. The steak and seafood was fantastic as well. We loved the outdoor dining atmosphere and will be back!
Was awesome and courteous staff, the braised beef was really good. Lobster Bisque was so so, a bit lukewarm, no pieces of lobster bits. Calamari was good, but would've preferred to have dipping sauces, especially with kids. Parking is probably the most difficult thing.
We have been dining at Sbicca since the late 90s and have always had a good dining experience. This time, however, was not typical. We felt really rushed - as if they could not wait to turn the table in order to seat the next group of diners. Maybe this is how they are dealing with the limited seating capacity due to Covid, so I will give them a pass but be prepared. Food was excellent as usual!
They limit dinner to 1 1/2 hours, we were a party of 4. Most other restaurants in the area have 2 hr limit which they monitor loosely as long as you don't set up camp ie your eating and drinking. The manager actually came up to us as we were finishing dinner to let us know we were at our time limit! In the next breath they asked us if we wanted to order desert or coffee's !! This was not cool.....
Everything was amazing! Finally found a spot with the best bread pudding in SoCal.
We were really quite disappointed in the food. It all seemed a little bland and not much flavor. The calamari was great, but everything else was not that great. The waiters were super friendly and attentive, I just wish the food tasted better.
Fantastic food, location and vibe. Love this place and will def go back!
Great service and patio seating.
