Relaxed evening out in beautiful Del Mar!
Our server was welcoming and professional.
Food was super yummy!
A definite try when in the Del Mar area!
We went here for our anniversary dinner. We moved away from Del Mar about 4 years ago so it was nice to be back in the neighborhood again. This has a very Del Mar feel about it. Every single person working there wished us Happy Anniversary which was nice. Besides that, I love that Sbicca is dog friendly.
A rare and unexpected dining experience — we were in the area for a doctor appointment so I googled restaurants in the area and thought the menu sounded intriguing. We were not disappointed. In fact, I’m telling all my friends about the amazing meal we had— I ordered the filet mignon which was served atop a portobello mushroom stuffed with Gorgonzola and Baby spinach., delicately drizzled with a pink peppercorn sauce. The filet was cooked medium rare— just perfection! My husband had the roast pork prime rib with sweet potato purée, bourbon Demi glacé and chantilly cream. Our server, Greg, was the epitome of charm, patient to answer our questions and prompt with service. We live in Mission beach but would willingly drive to Del Mar just to eat at Sbicca again.
Waiter Logan was outstanding and food excellent
Our server Brett and Spencer were fantastic! I appreciated the help with my menu selections. Food was delicious and prompt in getting to the table. I also loved the $5 Lunch Mimosas. Thank you for a wonderful first time experience. I’ll be back.
Always good food - great flavors. Good service. Very loud in top dining room.
I was looking for something low-key for our date night. Sbicca knocked it out of the park. The food was excellent, service was top notch, and the price was great! I was expecting to pay at least $60 more than what we paid. I'm adding Sbicca to my frequent dining locations.
The waiter, Vincent was fabulous.....
Food- Korean lettuce wraps, chopped salad with grilled shrimp, and salad with grilled salmon— all GREAT’
Great local find during a visit to the Del Mar area. Will return and recommend.
Food and service were amazing!!! So quick and polite! No complaints on food except that servings were slightly smaller than expected, but other than that, perfect place!
Soup was cold, one server for the entire restaurant.
Light lunch with a friend. Friend enjoyed her salad. I enjoyed calamari and crispy chicken chinese buns. Dined outside during an cool (for San Diego) afternoon but heater overhead was adequate.
Has for many many years offered Del Mar residents and guests an interesting dining choice, with excellent food and highly trained and attentive staff.
We always have a great meal at Sbicca! We have had the bar menu and last night enjoyed eating dinner in the upstairs room with the fireplace and the ocean view. The servers were efficient and friendly.
Excellent food in a great location. Always a great evening.
We love Sbicca, and especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays when bottles of wine are 1/2 price. We had the bacon-wrapped shrimp as an appetizer and their signature, wonderful pork chop and tasty butternut squash ravioli as entrees. Everything was excellent, including the prompt service. Just a fine restaurant!
Good food, nice wine, little noisy upstairs. I was disappointed that they didn’t acknowledge the whole reason we were there, which was a birthday dinner. When I made reservation I was asked if there was a special occasion, also when we arrived the host asked who’s birthday it was, I just assumed they would bring her a dessert or something.....oh well.
Never Disappoints * Best Happy Hour In Del Mar!!! Trefethon and Mushroom Pizza 'a must'!!!
Always love this restaurant, however we were seated in the “party room” and our quiet, romantic night out didn’t happen. Not sure why they would seat a party of 2 in that space.
Nice view from the rooftop dining room. Food was better than average, not spectacular. Bar was very good.
Great restaurant. Our reservation was early so we got a wonderful table with an ocean view. It fills up later. The service was outstanding from the reception desk, to being taken to our table to the attentive service of our waiter Brett. The food was awesome. Prices are moderate.
Sat out on the patio with ocean views. The salmon and beet salad was delicious. My friends had the mussels and fish sandwich. Also excellent. Courteous staff was patient with our celebration!
The food was flawless. However, we dined on V-day so the service was a bit on the slow side.
Love this place. Always have and always will. The new Renos are great and some fun additions to the menu too. Amanda and Dan The Man do a great job running this place :)
Fantastic dinner...The Caymus 2014 Cab even better...great easy going place in Del Mar
Sbicca is consistently putting out great food. I never have to worry about what I am ordering as it is all good. I had an excellent Cosmo with fresh lime instead of lemon and it was perfectly crafted and chilled. We shared a chopped salad and that was very tasty and a good size portion for two to split. They split it in the kitchen. Seasoned steak on lettuce cups was a great starter. Just enough spice to give it heat and make it interesting. We also split the double pork chop, which I used to be able to eat by myself (!) and it was flavorful and very juicy and tender. One of my favorites dishes. My only negative comment is that we were seated way up top and it was VERY cold to the point of being uncomfortable and there was a table of 8 near us and they were obnoxiously loud...for 3 hours. We were a table of 4 and it was near to impossible to carry on a conversation. Sort of ruined the evening for us.
They changed the menu, missed my favorite scallop dish. Bisque used to be exceptional but not so good.
Always been a Sbicca fan, but first time visiting after the re-model. We sat in the dining room upstairs. Loved the new decor! Great fireplace with some modern cement tiles and the private wine room looked great can't wait to do a dinner there. Food was amazing some new menu items and our server was the best! Very accommodating, especially in changing slightly menu items. The only thing that hadn't changed is the seating in the "hallway" which while dog friendly lacks ambiance.
The food was delicious and expertly prepared. Our server, Myles, was extremely courteous and attentive. We enjoyed our evening and will be back.
It was a wonderful culinary experience. The food and presentation were superb. The only criticism I would give it would be the lobster bisque. The Lobster Bisque was adequately tasty however it had a chalky finish that would almost suggest it was made from a powder or box. Also, lobster bisque is usually accompanied with tiny lobster chunks but there was none found to be found. The waiting staff was very attentive and accommodating. One suggestion I would give the waiting staff would be to not "Telegraph" their sense of urgency. As a server you may move with the sense of urgency(understandable because you have a job to do) however do not let your customers feel it because that can stress them out. Try to move with a "purpose in tranquility." Overall excellent dining experience.
Amazing The food and service were amazing.
First time visiting on a recommendation. Nice restaurant - much larger than initial impression. Sat upstairs in a very noisy room. Good food.. in fact very good. Problem was service.... we were party of four. Waiter was generally inattentive. When we noted other tables had come and gone while we were still waiting we finally asked our server what happened to our final course (dessert) and still waited another 15 minutes. No apologies given or explanation provided.
A different mentioned the restaurant had become too popular and they too had experienced spotty service.... not likely to return
We had a great time at Sbicca. The food was amazing and service was outstanding. Big shout out to our server Greg. Definitely will go again.
The food was just meh and while the service was good, the overall value of this place just isn’t there. The food is very expensive. I assume the cater more toward tourists than locals. Not impressed and don’t plan to return too soon.
Everything was fantastic! Highly recommend this place
Came for San Diego Restaurant Week and had a great time with friends. The food was good and the atmosphere was great.
Being relatively new to the area, we decided to take advantage of restaurant week and try some restaurants we haven't been to yet. We made our reservation expecting a good dinner based on all of the positive reviews, but we were floored at how awesome it turned out to be. Cori F. was one of the nicest people we've ever met (she seriously offered the coat off of her back because it was a little chilly when the wind blew) and the food and wine were even better than we could have imagined. We will definitely be returning for dinner again soon.
Very noisy, very long wait for everything, and our orders were wrong.
