Super cute restaurant. Food was delicious. In Silverlake, hip part of town.
Definitely a scene but also shatteringly loud inside. Fortunately in the back outside is a lovely garden patio with a very tasteful fire-pit. We were initially seated inside, asked for outside and were quickly accommodated. Service was very attentive and eager. Fish of the day was the standout for me, although my wife, not usually a fan of fried chicken, rated that the best dish. Hush puppies, non-traditionally sweetly glazed, were also a standout. The one disappointing dish was bland lamb meatballs. Cocktails were also excellent. Know that parking can be quite the challenge.
For the price and portion points, I prefer L&E. Snapper portion was a bit small for $28 and the lobster roll at L&E has better bread
Love the space, and the service was great. Menu is a bit limited and food is good, but not amazing. Seems like a great place to go for drinks if they have a happy hour.

love Sawyer. great ambiance, great interior. great food...only thing i'd suggest is including rice or a side with the salmon entree. also...i wish the beautiful patio was open during summer evenings. it's so pretty! oh, and i love the herringbone tiles in the bathroom, and the sinks.
food was good, service was good but it was way toooo noisy. guess it is more for the "younger" generation who can put up with the noise.
We tried Sawyer on the DineLA deal. We were told everyone at the table had to do the deal or no one could. We were also told we couldn't modify anything (one of the diners has a milk allergy but was unable to substitute the dressing or remove the cream from the dessert). If they don't want DineLA clients then maybe they shouldn't sign up for it. Also the food was just very average. Will not be going back.

Food—average. Hamachi was cut crudely and extremely small portion. 4 small chunks covering 1/6 of a large plate. Poached lobster was bland (but presentation was excellent). Would not return for the food.
Meal was served untimely. Main dish was served after an hour of ordering and 30 min after clearing our app. After asking for our food twice, the manager offered us a drink on the house. That was appreciated, but not enough to make up for the average experience overall.
The interior decor and patio are beautiful. The people who work there are beautiful. That’s about all the positive things I can say.
Worst service ever. We ordered everything upfront, as soon as we were greeted. Then the wait started... We were completely forgotten about except for the 4 times staff came to try to clear our plates. An hour long wait for 3 overdone/clearly left under a heating lamp for a while pieces of fried chicken covered in cheap buffalo seasoning accompanied by a sad ramekin of Cole slaw and a side of Frank’s Red Hot sauce and an overdone, cold, chewy lobster roll with a handful of mixed greens as a “side salad”. When I politely let our server know that we were unhappy with the wait time and even unhappier about the quality of food we were served, she had excuses (we dared to order an appetizer first...). The manager (Amy) was very nice but the damage was done. Even the manager admitted changes were sorely needed (amongst the concerns the manager voiced was a need for a new cook). Then, the manager made the situation more uncomfortable by assigning us our own server. While with good intent, it was uncomfortable dining while being constantly monitored by our own personal server. She might as well have joined us for dinner. Overall, the food is amateur and overpriced ($27 for fried chicken, $24 for lobster roll) and the service is a nightmare. Hoping Amy can whip things back into shape but I’ll never know because I will never return to Sawyer.
The risotto was literally brown rice with a few veggies on top
The service was great and the entire team was incredibly friendly and professional. The ingredients were well selected, which resulted in a great meal. The music on the patio added to the overall ambiance and breakfast experience!
The wait staff was completely off. We waited a long time for menus and even longer for our food. After 35 minutes our salads came out at the same time as our entree. The waitress didn’t care at all. When I mentioned it to her she just smiled and walked away. The food was so so and my steak came out cold. We ordered dessert and it too took forever to reach the table. Needless to say, we won’t be going back. It would be a good idea for them to hire someone to manage the place.
Although the food at Sawyer was delicious, the service and experience was poor and we would not return. Our server was slow to greet us, drinks were slow (I'm talking 20minutes after we sat down to get our first cocktail) and our risotto took 2 hours from the time we sat down to arrive. At one point, I got up to let the manager know our food hasn't come out and our server hadn't been by to communicate anything, and although she was pleasant and said she'd check on it, she never returned to follow-up, apologize, etc. Lastly, as we were finishing our meal a number of rats started running around the patio. It wasn't a great end to an already dicey experience. Wouldn't return.
The food was delicious. the service was fine, the noise level was intolerable, almost headache inducing. There was a wedding in the back of the restaurant which my have added to the mayhem. The room doesn't have any sound buffering elements, high ceilings and brick walls Also my friend and I are elderly, and the crowd was seemingly in their 30's and 40's. So our age may have been a factor. If they provided takeout, I would definitely use them for that. Either that or have an earlier seating for us old folks.
The restaurant was nice. I wanted a garden patio table but they were booked. We made reservations but we still had to wait 20 minutes for our table. The server was nice but she messed up 2 of our 3 orders. I ordered salad with my lobster roll and yet I mysteriously ended up with French Fries. She even said she wrote down SALAD on her pad but then asked me if I changed it to fries and she just didn't write it down. LMAO WTF? Anyway. It's a nice place. My lobster roll was delicious. But it was the only item I liked on the brunch menu so I probably won't be coming back again unless I crave the roll.
Sawyer is a great neighborhood spot. Great service, delicious food, good value for the price, and good energy.
The restaurant is beautiful, though it can get noisy when full. The food is creative and delicious, I have never had a bad dish.

My party of 4 waited 35 minutes past our reservation with minimal information before deciding to give up. We probably should have given up earlier but we figured no one could be this incompetent when it came to reserved tables.
Two separate 2 tops who arrived after us were seated at tables NEXT TO EACH OTHER. Meaning that they easily could have pushed those tables together to seat our party. Especially since it was abundantly clear that the party of two next to the available table had just settled their check.
I actually like this restaurant and have been several times, but after this experience, I will not be returning.
We booked an outdoor table through open table, and the only reason we chose this place was for the nice and quiet patio. On arrival we were told the patio was booked for a private party, and that we needed to call. That’s not acceptable and the loud indoor room was not our style at all.
Nice outside patio with great food at reasonable prices! Wish the patio was open early for Happy Hour!
The service was great a usual but the food let down the evening. This is my 8th time having drinks/& or eating here & unfortunately the last two times the food has been subpar.
Love the vibe. The cocktails were good. We were seated right away with our reservation. Our server gave us a free round of cocktails because our food was delayed.

We had a terrible Experience. Our food order was very late And was missing items. One order was 15 minutes later than the others. A shift change contributed to this confusion. Both fish Entrées we had Were abysmal. Same for the octopus appetizer. Our waitress was inattentive and tried to blame the problems on us. I will say that the manager worked hard to be accommodating and gave us a break on the bill. He did seem to care about the birthday dinner we had looked forward and failed so miserably. This place is probably good for happy hour and cocktails. Maybe a burger and fries. In the way is this fine dining or anything close to that.
Hostess was rude and not welcoming. I had a view of her the entire stay and she did not smile or greet one patron that walked in. It was raining and they had their entire patio wall opened, it was freezing. Even though we had reservations, they sat us at a high top communal table smashed in between strangers. Stools were very shaky and very high for someone of my stature to climb on. They brought my food out an entire 30 minutes before they brought my bfs food out. Waiter took my plate without asking me if I was finished; I had to call after him to bring it back because I was still eating. Terrible place.

The restaurant itself was beautiful. The food was pricey, but not bad. I did enjoy the oysters and lobster roll. The service was beyond slow. Both tables next to us had to remind the servers they were still waiting on their food. Our food was also very slow to come out, and when it did my mom's pancakes were black. She sends back the burnt food only to wait another 20 minutes for them to come out. The rest of my family was finished with their food by the time she got her new plate.
I was disappointed, and likely will not be coming back again due to the lack of hustle on the kitchen and server's behalf.

The poor service was disappointing. The menu gave me hope that my experience would have changed directions. I ordered fried chicken which is one of my favorite things. It arrived and was heavily spiced with buffalo seasoning—this was not described on the menu. We had to request condiments and iced tea refills more than once and our server didn’t check on us even once during the 1.5 hour visit. I’m thankful that my friend and I had plenty to talk about and distract us from the unfortunate dining experience.
Way overpriced for the amount of food you get. $25 for like 2 oz of cod lol, ridiculous
Good food, good wine. It was a bit pricy but you can expect it given the location. Cute and stylish design. They only gave us a table that was a little small for five people and it was not completely set even though we had a reservation.
Awesome food and service. Loved the open airy high ceiling structure. Ambiance was fun and carefree, with neutral warm colors. Staff and chef were very customer focused. My husband had a special order due to allergies. They delivered without any fuss or mishaps. Will dine there again.
Our brunch dish (eggs Benedict and quinoa salad) took an hour to come out... but the food was delish and decently priced. Dog friendly patio was a plus !
We had a very pleasant experience to start while dining on the outside patio - however, we were met with rodents running on top of the outside patio over our heads. When we mentioned it to the staff, we were met with the response ‘well..you are outside...’. We quickly moved inside and finished our appetizers and drinks. The wait staff didn’t provide any solution or really seem to care. They gave us our full bill and didn’t bother to even apologize for our experience.
