Chef Chris was delightful and Diamond was a wonderful server. Would definitely recommend to others and will absolutely be coming back!
Unfortunately the service was not good. Ordered a bottle of Belle Glos which usually runs for $50 if purchased in store, they had it priced at $85 then our server came back with a completely different wine, did not ask if it was ok just processed to open it. I told him that was not the correct bottle and he stated they did not have h Belle Glos. He stated the wine he brought over was the only Pinot they had. The bottle was Angeline which runs for $9 if purchased in store but we were still charged for the Belle Glos. There was also some confusion with our entrees. Felt like they took advantage, very disappointing. Won’t be returning.
There was a very sour moldy mildew smell as you walk up the stairs to enter the restaurant. There was minimal lighting it was too dark. The food was blah the greens were under cooked the beans were under cooked however the red snapper and rice dish was fantastic it was amazing the chicken was also was amazing and the yams were watery
Food cuisine and atmosphere were indifferent. Music was too loud and it had offensive language. Good was not Southern, dress code not enforced and small portions for small amounts were given. Will not commend.
Food was amazing. Restaurant was/is beautiful. Nice lay out. Nice set up as well as lighting. My girl and I loved the food and experienced excellent customer service. Will be back. Food was bomb as fk!!
My experience was overall fair, nothing exceptional food choice was just okay. Ambience and presentation was fairly good to some extent. In my opinion need more menu choices and drink selections and actually the drink menu was pricey compared to what you get for the money. I was slightly disappointed, however glad I had the experience.
Greeted at the door. Seated as soon as I arrived. Waiter was very attentive.
My husband's fried chicken thigh was bloody in the middle. When I bit into my grilled peach I bit a piece of a broken plate. But my waiter was great!
The stairway up to to the dining room had a really bad smell. Even through the mask, I could smell the foul odor. Not sure if it was water sewage or old carpet. Any who they had a limited menu so we order a range of items… the food wasn’t good nor worth the price. I was very disappointed. We’ve been here before but back in summer of 2019 so I am not sure if it was a change in ownership or the pandemic but it’s do not the same. Lastly, the bathrooms were disgusting. Please go and clean the bathrooms.
This was a very enjoyable meal/dining experience. My colleague and I were pleasantly surprised. We both said we would return.
Was very disappointed that several items was removed off the menu but not off the website menu. I was really looking forward to the items
Wonderful for a nice quiet date. Ambiance is nice
Not my first time, food is always delicious. Need to expand their menu and get more help. Service was a little slow but very courteous and helpful. I would definitely go back. I was told of a dress code, however, it was not enforced. Overall vibe was good.
The most important thing to keep in mind is there is no elevator and you must climb about 40 steps (that have apparently not been vacuumed and cleaned in years). The place is definitely not ADA compliant.
The greens were outstanding but my salmon was cold. Service a little slow good wings and fish. But I would go back.
Great food, excellent service. Very happy.
I was really looking forward to the cuisine however it fell short in many ways. The crab dip was a little watery with a very weird taste none of party found it enjoyable and the bread Crump’s were just placed on top not baked into. The wings would have been ok although they lack favor, very bland if they wasn’t cooked with the hair still on them. The catfish was fried in old grease which rendered it undesirable. It was a suppose to be fried hard but was soggy due to the grease being old and it also made the batter dark. I did speak with the manager who did remove 2 of the catfish dinners. The testy is not what I would call soul food, it was just food..
The catfish was extremely extremely salty! The yams were rather sugary by themselves however if they were still selling macaroni, together I think it would have been better. Just was not the experience I had been waiting to try, will not be back. The restaurant overall had a nice vibe but that’s it.
Off putting to be dressed well with those sitting next to us ball caps and tshirts. Our server's poor attitude made our entire visit uncomfortable. He clearly didn't want to be there and forgot to deliver some of our food as well.
The food was perfect
Lobby smelled unclean. Clam dipw/chips very salty. Braised oxtails greasy. Risotto underneath watery. Alabama Chicjen sandwich was small; sauce strange and a paltry 12 fries accompanied. They were out of coffee cream- but coffee was fresh. Waitress unapologetic/ambivalent. We had brunch there before. Maybe dinner not the time to eat there.
It is very unfortunate that this place does not provide good service. I was a customer when the restaurant first opened, but on my last 2 trips I’ve received bad service. This place allows you to make reservations at 8:30pm, but they lock the doors at 8:45pm. After my incomplete party was seated and although I was placing the missing guest’s order, I was informed they would not let her into the restaurant. Needless, to say we left. I spoke with Richard (who I assume is a supervisor) and he pretty much shrugged his shoulders and said said oh well.
I understand there are rules, but denying entry for late arrival was not listed in any of the notices for this restaurant. I have never heard of a restaurant locking doors and denying customers entry.
Our anniversary!! The food was excellent! Service was great and we had a great time!
The restaurant was recommended as a place to take my wife for our 39th Anniversary and her birthday. The ambience, service and meal did not meet the occasions, but would more than suffice on a casual outing down town. I reserved online and indicated the occasions for making a reservation because nothing special was done and I guess my two occasions went into a black hole. The waitress was very nice and responses. Lastly, I recommend because the building is old that they do something about the damp, old smell going up the stairs to the eating area. Not a smell you want to intake prior to your meal. I hope this CONSTRUCTIVE review help take this establishment to a higher level.
I have visited this restaurant many times. Disappointed that the macaroni was taken off the menu. The oxtails were a tad fattier than usual. The fried chicken was greasy and so were the fries. I was also disappointed in the fact that I could pick my sides with the fried chicken; but now it comes with creamy slaw and fries; and there was no way to replace an item but to order it as a side.
Overall, I was surprised at the changes. This has been one of my favorite restaurants for a few years and yesterday my dining experience was sub par.
I used to eat here a lot when they first opened. It was a great spot to bring friends. In my more recent visits, there has been an Odor upon entry, Reused paper menus, food nor prepared as advised and other food just wasn’t good. Also, no Mac on the menu “because they couldn’t figure out how to make it in bulk to save money.” No one wears masks. Manager included. Cute decor and space though.
Sat at the bar, and the bartender was great! Food was amazing! Drinks! And over atmosphere!!
When I arrived at the restaurant it was also a couple waiting outside the restaurant to get inside. We called the restaurant multiple times as well as rung & knock on the door. For about 20 minutes we were trying to reach the restaurant to figure out what was going on and why we were being helped. We were locked out & I feel as so if they were closed or whatever the issue may have been it should have been stated somewhere. I made the reservations the night before and it said nothing it went straight through.
This was absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant and I will not be returning. I’ve never had this problem with a restaurant nor with open table being that the app still let me book.
After my experience at this restaurant I would not recommend for any occasion. Beginning there is a “dress code” where my friend was denied angry by the doorman, reason being she has two slits in her black jeans. I was not made aware about a dress code so after speaking to the manager (being left in the rain while doing so) he agreed to let us in. After being led upstairs I see workers with jogging pants, customer with tan cargo military fatigue pants and was quickly confused on what exactly the problem was with two slits but continued without questioning. Especially the fact it seemed we were the only people dining in at the time. For a place with a “dress code” you expect toilet paper to actually be on the rolls and the same with paper towel in the bathroom, but you will be sadly mistaken. Yes, you have to touch after someone’s poppy hands to use some, disgusting. Service was okay nice guy, didn’t know too much about the menu. Short menu, limited options, and AMAZING DRINKS! Seriously A++ to the bartender. Food about on par nothing special, tried many different things and nothing really stood out. you can taste the same sauce on the bed my snapper came with and the sauce that came with dry rubbed wings. Very disappointing. Halfway through my meal was asked to leave due to a “hot water issue”. Mind you we are the only ones dining in my experience was cut short with a $170 check. Very angry and disappointed at this point, I generously tipped both server and bartender and left but my experience has to be known to the masses. 1 Star will not try again. Do not recommend.
The food had very little flavor. I was extremely disappointed.
Music is so loud it is difficult to communicate. Seating for two and you are literally an arms length away from the patrons next to you. Entree menu is limited; came for the Ox Tail; they were out of it at 6PM. The Patrons next to us left when they were informed that the Ox Tail was not available. We will not return.
The server was very pleasant but our water had floaters and we had a 4pm reservation on a Sunday and they were out of macaroni and cheese, crab dip and oxtails. Very disappointing.
This was my first time going and my last time definitely. The food was not good I ordered chicken which was fried too hard. I wanted the macaroni and cheese however the manager told us that the batch didn’t come out right so they could not sell it. Too many stairs to get up to the restaurant and no elevator. The waitress was very slow. A very disappointing experience😩
Ate here several times before and this time the food had a different taste not to my liking. Must have a new chef. Service was good. Ambiance was good
Really nice atmosphere. Appetizers are smaller but I think that's because your entree is huge. Will definitely return if I'm in the city.
This was my second time coming here and to be honest, I seen a complete changed . The food was not good as my first time going and after the second time, I won’t be back. Very disappointed. Theirs not much on the menu , if your not big on seafood your only choice is a salad or chicken. The lemonade was great!
Excellent food and very good service.
The food was very good and prepared and delivered on time. We had a party of 4 and everyone enjoyed there meal and the service. I invite anyone to try them out.
Great food, slow service but she was very, very nice. A little too loud- needs carpet, window treatments or something to absorb some of the noise.
