Great food, great staff. Was nice outdoor with overhead heating lamps until the Ninja rat began flying around. Would be 5/5 if it wasn’t for the rat.
I used to love this place. I was so looking forward to the fresh pasta, wonderful sauces and inventive new Italian. Unfortunately, I was sincerely disappointed with a lackluster meal here. Outside of the tomato tart, which was fresh and delicious, all other dishes were just lacking in flavor and finesse. Flavorless peaches with burrata and sloppy presentation and high prices for nice but semi-dull mushroom sauce on the scallops and 4 mussels over dry pasta, both for over $30. I'm sad to say this one is off my list of go-to's.
Love it and always do! We come here at least once or twice a month maybe three times of lucky!
We had a great experience with trying out the unique menu as well as with the excellent service staff.
Paid $350 for a dinner for 4 people (meal + 2 drinks a piece) to have rats running under our table. Told a server about the rats and she brushed it off like it’s been a ongoing issue. So unless you want rats at your feet at dinner I’d choose somewhere for dinner.
Overall good. Our appetizers arrived promptly, but there was a long wait until the main courses arrived. Our server didn’t provide any updates. There may have been a bunch of to go orders in front of ours. Also, the server didn’t get our glasses of wine on the bill. We had to remind them. Finally, there was an automatic 20% gratuity. I wish restaurants would let you know before you order.
Fabulous experience. Great staff, beautiful ambience. Great food!!!
Portion sizes were small. Service was lacking in attention and entrees came out at different times
San Fermo is the whole package. Whether you are out for a date night or a special occasion the atmosphere and food is to die for. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable regarding the menu. It wasn’t the best service I have received at restaurants similar in price but definitely sets a very good standard of service. The food is expensive but you truly get what you pay for. It is my favorite Italian food in all of Seattle no question. I have been here many times and I always get excited the next time I come back. The quality and consistency is top notch you can tell the owners and employees are passionate about what they do.
Way overpriced and not too good. Ordered a dish with morel mushrooms and cheap button mushrooms were substituted without telling me. We also order a primavera pasta and it was strange and consisting of corn and bitter shishito peppers and the sauce tasted bland. They were cheap about adjusting the bill when we raised these issues. Service wasn’t great for the 20% service fee included. No check up to see if we wanted fresh pepper or cheese on our dishes after they came.
My boyfriend and I went here for a special dinner, and we decided to split the bill, like we usually do. We got a charcuterie plate, I got a glass of red wine, and 2 entrees for our meal. The service was SLOW af, it took them over 40 minutes to get us our entrees which was disappointing, and another reason why we didn't get dessert here. Later in the week, he and I were checking our cc bills and san fermo shows up on both our accounts twice! We call them to let them know that they've charged both of us twice and they tell us that since we split the bill, they wanted to make sure that it gets paid nonetheless in case one of our payments don't go through so they charged us twice as a back up, which was absolutely insane to me and has literally never happened before. I guess indirectly, they told us that we didn't look "rich" enough to dine here and pay our $60/head bill. They auto include a 20% tip in the bill, so make sure not to over tip if you find yourself here. The food was good but the experience was mediocre. I do not recommend this place if you're a person of color or don't dress rich. We TRULY felt discriminated against and that's NOT OK!
While the ambiance and service was good, I was very disappointed with the food. I heard about this place from a list of best italian to try in Seattle and was looking forward to dining here! Specifically, the scallop dish, it was mostly mushroom forward with a very salty broth. The scallops or the broth were not hot either. We did a customization of the spaghetti to make it vegetarian, which was a disappointment as well. The spaghetti was over cooked, the sauce too tomato-y.
I just love this place. The indoor ambience is so cozy and the food is a WOW! That tomato tart, watermelon salad, pasta bolognese... all so good!! And by the way, great cocktails and wine list! Thank you San Fermo!!!
The ingredients were of good quality and everything felt like it was made on site or from a local business. Unfortunately I found my starters bland, then my main so spicy I couldn’t taste (the waitress did warn me it was spicy, but my bias in knowing Seattle’s spice level made me think I’d be fine, normally spice is fine with me). The dessert was delicious and perfectly balanced, not too sweet. The mocktail (I’m pregnant, and as call out to many restaurants, pregnant women still want to go out and have a nice experience, so if we go to a nice place something more than a soda or water would be nice) tasted just like a flavored San Pellegrino with a piece of basil floating in it. Note: the choice was ‘house made’ I didn’t get options. Because of this, I probably should have sent it back and they may have provided something else. I guess I was picking up that that was what they did and there wasn’t much else available.
I want to like this place. Lots of people do and highly recommend it and it looks so charming. Their attention to decor, vibe, service makes me want it to be a favorite.
Five at the meal, three 21 year olds and two 50 year olds. We loved our drinks and our food! Our server was excellent too. Highly recommend the Nari (mussels and pasta) and the risotto. I love this restaurant and will eat here again and again.
Nice outdoor space, great food, and very good service. There are some Covid-related quirks, like no corkage, and need to order everything at the same time, but still worth it.
Minus the rats on the ground and eventually on the tables scavenging, the only complaint I have is about the bill. 250$ for 3 people to have pasta is pricey. The outdoor area is nice though. Our waitress also pretty blah and rarely seen. I probably wouldn't go back.
My favorite restaurant in Seattle!! Thanks!!
We liked the location of our table on the side terrace. Our waiter was very good and attentive inspite of that area was full of customers. We did ask that the music be turned down and he complied. We will definitely return again to San Fermo.
Fabulous meal and lovely outdoor dining! Our server was terrific, and we had a wonderful meal.
Recommendations were great, location was sweet. Simple, elegant food presented beautifully with incredible quality ingredients.
Food? Insane. People? Amazing. Vibes? Outstanding.
Amazing food and service. This place has it all!
Music on 8/16 dinner was very loud, highly inappropriate, and often misogynistic. Food and service were good.
Great food. Great place. A little pricey but worth it.
The staff were all wonderful. SUCH a cute spot. But the cost value for the meal... not the best if I'm being honest. Most dishes were incredible (get the mushrooms!), but a bit pricey...
Such delicious food. We are so lucky to have Sam Fermo close to us.
The Food was OK but no more than this.
We had to wait 10 minutes at the entrance before anybody approached us.
It took a long time before food was ready. We had to wait almost half an hour to get starters, and another 40 minutes to get the main course.
Worst of all there were rats or mice running in the outside dining, 5 inches from where we were sitting.
The food was pretty good and we really wanted to love this place, but just couldn’t get there. Some of the dishes didn’t rise to expectations. The vitello tonnato was made with pork instead of veal which I understand if a restaurant does not wish to serve veal, but it was sliced too thick and not that great. The orecchiette was so thick, it was more like a chewy dumpling versus pasta. Beyond that, there was no thought given to the timing of dishes so that the experience could be better. There are only 2 courses and everything for each course comes out at the same time. We had ordered 3 primis and they were all crowded onto our table within 5 minutes. It all felt rushed and not enjoyable.
Wasn’t thrilled with the service. It’s like they forgot about our table and didn’t really seem to care that they were essentially closing the restaurant around us while we continued to wait for food. Another table had the same problem and even leaned over to ask us about it. Not mention the food was cold.
Best Bolognese spaghetti in Seattle hands down.
Solid but not amazing.
Whatever you do try one of the pastas! The pasta itself was the star of my meal. The farinata appetizer was amazing as well.
Everything was absolutely delicious. A delightful meal.
Food, beverage and service fantastic in a great setting. Took 7 year old granddaughter to dinner and she’s high maintenance. Server was very assisting
Love this place. Always come when visiting Ballard from NC
The spaghetti is by far the most popular dish but the tomato leaf ravioli is where it’s at! Highly recommend.
Food was pretty good though overpriced. Outdoor dining section on the street has no ambience and is loud - nothing at all like dining in the restaurant.
Would skip if you don’t get a table inside. We were seated on the porch and is was still mayhem with the outdoor dining section being packed.
Best ever !
Better than ever! Wish little kids weren’t allowed in this restaurant tho.
