San Carlo Regent Street
So bad we left after 20 mins. When we arrived the restaurant was half full yet they seated us in the downstairs dining room which is not nice and faces a grotty kitchen service area. We asked to be moved but were told no seating was available upstairs. We decided to leave and surprise surprise a nice table suddenly became available in the upstairs dining room. Sadly it didn’t get better. The place was in total chaos. Waiting staff running everywhere, front of house looking very stressed, and the place still less than half full. We sat there for 15 minutes with no menus or service, we could have asked but it was obvious this was not going to be a good experience so we got up and left and had a lovely dinner at a place just around the corner.
I read the reviews and for unknown reason , I wasn't quite expecting what we experienced when we got there. The service was perfect, bordering on exceptional. The food exquisite, the ambience perfect and the staff were amazing. I haven't experienced this level of service for ages. It isn't a cheap restaurant, but totally worth the money. Will I be back? Definitely.
We had an excellent meal at San Carlo Regent Street.
The Food was perfectly prepared and cooked, the service from the waiters was exceptional, very attentive, professional and friendly and the whole experience was even better than I expected (and this was my second visit to this particular San Carlo Restaurant.
I would highly recommend anyone to reserve and eat here.
Excellent service, lovely restaurant will definitely return...
We organised a meal for 5 here on Thursday 28th Nov 19 for the first time. Everything was perfect from the staff’s care and attention to the outstanding quality of the food and assistance in ordering as well as notes on the meals chosen. One small complaint was that I ordered a pre meal drink of Punt E Mes with tonic and whatever came was not Punt E Mes! Possibly Campari who knows. Colour was light pink and taste sweet not bitter - I decided against pointing this out as I did not want to start the meal with a complaint and was rewarded with an excellent evening all round. Better to have said something though or perhaps I should have been told no Punt E Mes in stock.....
I start with the good things: service was nice and food was good.
The rest was horrible ... we’ve waited 40 minutes for the starters.
My portion (Main) was really small. ALL THE TOILETTS DIDNT HAVE ANY TOILET PAPER!!!! They had 6 toilets...
I also had a hair in my starter.
I ordered the bill and had to wait 15 minutes for it.
Many more other things..
don’t go there.
Staff were friendly and fabulous - Antonio
Wine took ages to get to the table!!
Love the olives at the bar great idea
I’m so shocked to be writing a bad review due to its such high rating as that’s what made me book in the first place! From start to finish our experience was awful, from the moment we sat down with no drinks or food menu then was continually ignored by staff to get a menu, it took us 15 minutes to get someone’s attention! The drinks then took 20 minutes to arrive and we still hadn’t ordered our food. Starters arrived an hour later and were so bland and tasteless, we had the scallops and prawns, they just tasted of oil and were so overcooked and rubbery. 45 minutes later our mains arrived and they were cold. Both of us had pasta/ spaghetti when we asked our server to take them back he continued to argue with us and say they weren’t cold?!! 2 minutes later they came back Luke warm but by this point we were absolutely starving so we ate what we could. Due to complaining about our mains the server obviously wanted us out ASAP and refused to give us a desert menu and instead just brought the bill. Totally disgraceful service but thankfully they accepted to taking off our main meals from the bill which was good of them.
Overall horrendous experience, dreadful food, staff are rude and ridiculously overpriced.
Great location and ambience. Attentive and professional service. Food is good but pricey, apart from the daily lunch menu which is very good value, although fairly simple food. The downside is the wine list which is not very extensive and hugely overpriced.
This was my first visit to San Carlo restaurant in lower Regent Street. I chose it as I was in a meeting nearby in the morning and I had walked past it before and liked the look of it. I hadn't expected it to be so good! I had the crispy baby squid followed by lobster ravioli - both perfectly cooked and really tasty. I was then tempted by the waiter to have a rum baba with strawberry ice cream for pudding. Not a combination I would have thought of but absolutely delicious. Probably the finest Italian food I've had outside Italy!
We had a slight problem with one of our meals not being hot but this was rectified immediately and compensated without having to ask which in return restored our satisfaction 100%. Very impressed with the way it was dealt with and would definitely recommend to anyone.
It's always a delight to eat here. The ingredients are of the highest quality.
This was our first time at San Carlo Regent Street having dined at practically all the others in the UK.
The standard was just as good, the service professional and good-humoured and very nicely furnished.
San Carlo Regent Street provides the first rate food and service shown on all previous visits
As usual the good was excellent and this always brings me back. On this occasion I found that our waiter was a little coarse with us. It's a shame the toilets downstairs were closed, as we had to queue to use the one toilet that was available.
Lunch after a trip to The National Galley.
All the food was horrible! Vary bad and no taste and not hot even the drinks tasted horrible
Perfect experience with San Carlo from start to end. Very warm greeting from hostess. All staff were very hospitable and no query was an issue. Food was flawless and service was second to none. Will be returning and recommending friends to this restaurant.
Loved everything about the place. To top it all, my son's birthday was made special. Thank you so much for your lovely service and attention to detail. Steak and lobster was to die for. Will definitely recommend xx
The restaurant is gorgeous, staff were very attentive, and the food was quite good. We had truffle arancini to start and they were a bit bland. Our endive salad was delicious. The pasta bolognese was tasty, but a little dry. The halibut with lobster sauce was a little over cooked (touch dry) and the lobster sauce was more of a sweet, oily sauce and didn’t have much lobster flavor. We were upsold their bread basket with, “Why don’t I start you off with some bread while you look at the menu?”
Great service, not a great value for money as the food was good but a bit expensive for what it was
We went for dinner prior to going to the Panton of the Opera show. We informed the waiter that we needed to leave by 19:15 having arrived at 18:00. The waiter said that would not be a problem. The starters came very quickly indeed and were delicious and we finished these by 18:30. The main course we received by 19:05 in spite of insisting several times about our need to leave. The lasagne was dried out from staying too long in the oven. As we had to rush to leave we could not finish the food. Other patrons that came after us were served faster iand able to leave in a timely manner for the show. It was quite ironic to see an ad for the restaurant on the inner back page of the show's program booklet advertising pre and post show dinners. I will not return.
this restaurant has a yacht style interior and they are accommodating with menu choices. the food is good and we enjoyed our dinner.
Superb. Very friendly helpful staff. Excellent food and wine.
OK but we'll overpriced
Service was excellent and the food great.
We did have a problem with one of our dishes being served without pasta sauce (very strange, but everyone has the occasional off day)
This was quickly remedied by the waiting staff and the
Fabulous service and very friendly, attentive waiters. The food was lovely and we had a great pre-theatre meal here. There’s a good value set menu for early diners, if you order before 6pm, which is worth checking out if you are going on to a show.
Food was top top quality. Staff very knowledgable and friendly and nothing was too much for them. Would recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
Excellent dining experience & wonderful service and food.
1st place to visit in London!
A very nice restaurant with friendly and efficient service. My only disappointment was the Avocado Bernardo which was said to be with prawns and lobster - there were certainly prawns but I only identified one tiny piece of lobster which doesn't seem very good value for around £15.
We had a great meal two days earlier so we returned again on Saturday night. The restaurant was packed so we were ushered downstairs to what must be the worst seat in the house directly next to the kitchen. Our waiter ignored us most of the night, but Bruno was amazing and he saved the day.
A charming restaurant full of Italian flair. Excellent service and lovely food. I love it and you will as well!! So brilliant we went 3 nights in a row! Amazing staff, wonderful food and a brilliant atmosphere. GO HERE, IT’S brilliant!!
Well appointed restaurant with the best pasta around. Staff are very attentive. Very friendly. It is one of my favourite eating venues in London.
In London for the weekend
Charming, energetic service from everyone we met so it felt like a lovely place to be. Attractive room with a nice vibe, bathrooms good too. Ordered the Menu Fisso which was £22 for two courses, £29 for three. Good selection and very tasty when arrived. However, they forgot the fries for my main course so they arrived too late to enjoy with the steak (though they were delicious with strings of cheese melted across the top). They also brought the wrong dessert for my partner so by the time the correct one arrived we were effectively eating separately. Total price £40 a head including the service charge.
Small portions but good service and food is tasty, much better than Fumo even though they are same brand
Beautiful ambience, excellent selection. Ideal for the seafood enthusiast but would not disappoint the carnivore either. Attentive service but not overly so & we never felt rushed. Wine list a bit pricey but this is no different from any other well-appointed restaurant in London. will definitely go again.
Note: Opentable says "under £25 per head" While this is possible, our bill came to £225 Inc. service. We were 4 sharing 3 starters, 4 mains (2 with lobster, one with crab), 3 desserts shared and 5 glasses of wine/cocktail (not a bottle).
Another fabulous dining experience at San Carlo. The food is simply delicious - this is a real gem of a restaurant - and the staff are very good. The only small downside was that we had to wait a long time after requesting our bill. However, I will be back again as it's now established as one of my favourite places to eat in central London. I loved the truffle ravioli!
