   We had the great pleasure of eating lunch at Sammy’s Bistro at the Yellow House, last Sunday. As always the food was superb. A beautiful seasonal menu cooked to perfection. This fantastic independent local restaurant struggles to survive in the current economic climate. They closed their doors after Christmas but reopened in February with a new name but with the same fantastic team, much to the delight of regular customers! We have eaten here many times and the food is always exceptional and very good value. Last Sunday our table of four opted for the Prawn and avocado tian to start. The ingredients were top quality and bursting with flavour. A dish to be savoured. To follow, two of us had the baked Salmon with hollandaise, jersey royals and Asparagus - spring’s finest ingredients cooked with finesse. The other two had pizzas which they said were the best they had ever eaten, and they go to Italy frequently. Deserts here are a must, Jamie the pastry chef, is a master of his art with the lightest of touches. Jamie creates each morning a freshly baked array of delectable deserts, each one more delicious than the other. We sampled three different ones on Sunday. A delightful plum concoction on a brioche base, a strawberry tart on the lightest of pastry bases filled with creme anglaise and a sumptuous slice of banana cake. We couldn’t decide which one was the best, they were all so good! The drinks list is extensive and imaginative and all reasonably priced. Their negroni spagliata a delight. I just hope that more customers will frequent this brilliant place. It so deserves to be supported. Even though the location might seem a bit remote, it is literally two minutes walk from Surrey Quays train station. In almost any other more central location in town this neighbourhood eatery and bar would have a queue round the block and a bib gourmand listing to promote it!

   The food and service are always great here, just wished it was busier to give it more of a buzz. So come along and create that buzz. Some tables have a view of Southwark Park, and there is alfresco dining/drinking in warm weather on a private terrace. You can see right into the kitchen and watch the food being prepared, most (all?) of the puddings are made on the premises. Sammy's at the Yellow House next to Surrey Quays station deserves to be better known, give it a try!

   First dinner at ‘Sammy’s @ The Yellow House’ and it didn’t disappoint. Super quality dishes made with love. So excited that this local gem is keeping going, such an important local gem which should not be underestimated. Big shout out to Samuel with his exceptional ideas and great dishes! The desserts by Jaime are obviously still the best… the rhubarb tart was exceptional.

   Absolutely delicious dinner tonight at the Yellow House. Both the Beef Bourguignon and the Pork Chop were top draw. Always have to leave space for their special desserts too. Really lovely people who always make us feel welcome.

   Excellent food and friendly, welcoming staff, as always. My husband really enjoyed his flat iron steak and my tiger prawn risotto was delicious. The wine list is good with decent wines reasonably priced. The restaurant also has a nice bar area with a fire and some banquette seating.
