Sammie’s is a little taste of old Italy in downtown Austin. It celebrates the great ‘red sauce’ institution—inspired by old school, legendary Italian-American restaurants. The menu offers classic dishes in a casual but sophisticated, retro-designed space that is both lively and comfortable, capturing the essence of a night out at your favorite neighborhood joint. The space consists of a central dining room overlooking Shoal Creek and 6th Street, polished wood bar, Mildred’s Room (a private dining/wine room), and wraparound patio dining area. Please note that patio seating is weather contingent.

The menu offers riffs on standards including Housemade Mozzarella Sticks, Clams Casino, and Caesar Salad a la Tommy; timeless pastas like Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Linguine Vongole; and Sammie’s Classics: big portions of iconic plates like Chicken and Eggplant Parmigiana, Veal Marsala, and Baked Manicotti.

Friday Jazz lunch. Very loud but that’s expected with talking over live music. Food was amazing. ENJOYED!

Sammie's is awesome, truly feels like a family Italian restaurant with all the trimmings. Service is always excellent and food is great—lots of classics that we love, but slight changes and new additions each time we dine.

We had an 8:30 reservation and did not get seated until after 9 PM. Once seated, our server never actually introduced himself (still don’t know his name) and was very short with us. We had to ask him over so we could order our meal. I want to be fair - the food at Sammie’s is always excellent but the ambiance (very, very loud), service, and reservation management on this instance was truly terrible. Despite the several good (even great) experiences I’ve had at Sammie’s, because of this trip I will be hard pressed to return. For a nearly five hundred dollar bill there are several places in town you can get a fantastic dinner with good service and quality ambiance, right now Sammie’s isn’t that.

Delicious! Lasagna and spaghetti and meatballs amazing. Service is beyond excellent. Atmosphere is classy old world Italian.

This was our 5th time coming to Sammie’s and unfortunately a very bad experience. We had a reservation for 8:30pm, and at 8:50 were told that we might be able to get a table in 25/30mins. Finally ended up getting a table at 9:20 so almost an hour after our reservation started. I made the reservation far in advance to celebrate a 10 year anniversary so very disappointed that we had such a bad experience, and that no manager came to check in or apologize.

Cesar Salad is definitely the one. Chicken Parmesan was good also. The spaghetti noodles were flavorful too.
