Family feel with higher end service and food. Had a great experience and can’t wait to go back.
Best pasta in Austin. Looks like a classic small family NYC Italian restaurant.
Get the Bucatini Carbonara and the Prawns in Butter & Vinegar.
One of my favorite caesar salads of my life. Veal sweetbreads were incredible. Textbook foccacia. Pappardelle funghi was a masterpiece of texture. Rigatoni bolognese was close-your-eyes-orgasmic. At least top 5 wine lists in Austin. Cynar Julep and Sammie's Martini were perfect, as was the tiramisu. Caffè corretto to seal the deal. Old school classic Italian service captain. No nonsense, very particular about the details. Highly enjoyable experience, would recommend to literally anyone.
Really felt like going to Little Italy but in downtown Austin. Classics like Linguini and Clams, Baked Manicotti and Veal Marsala were all home runs but the Tiramisu might some of the best I’ve ever had.
Service was great, food was good, noise level was deafening.
My girlfriend and I had to reserve a table a month in advance, and for good reason. Place was packed and the food and wine was some of the best we’ve ever had in austin. Thanks again!
Amazing, authentic Italian food with great attention to detail. Service from Rudy and also Eli was spectacular and made the meal even better. Decor is great and cozy. The only cons were the noise level (it was impossible to hear someone on the other side of the booth by 7:30p) and the wine list seemed very expensive. But, thanks to the food and service, we will be regulars!
Felt like I walked into a vintage Brooklyn Italian spot. Fantastic food and service. Will be back!
Great environment, amazing food, amazing service!!
We absolutely loved our first time here! We sat at the bar to grab a drink and then got seated at our table that we made a reservation for months in advance for our anniversary. The wait staff didn't notice the change at first and were extremely apologetic and were there checking in on majority of our experie
Overall good experience. Loud atmosphere. Diners talking competing with the loud music. It's small so get use to bumping elbows and your backside navigating through the bar and restaurant.
We enjoyed the ambiance and excellent service at Sammy's, with the exception of the loudness. I am a music lover and would have loved to hear more of the music and less of the extremely loud voices. It was overwhelming how noisy is was and we struggled to communicate at our table.
We enjoyed our ceasar salad and my husband was happy with his veal parmiagana. Our 12 year old son loved his Shirley Temple cocktail! I had the swordfish and was very disappointed. It was very dry and bland despite the liquid sauce that it was swimming in. My son ended up eating it with his pasta.
Great food and even better service. Perfect for a date night with your girls or lover! 🍝🍷❤️
Wanted to love it but just didn't. The pasta was so over-salted that it was inedible. The rest of the food was good but not memorable - not worth the $150 bill for two diners that had one drink each, shared an appetizer, and shared a dessert. That being said, the place is super cute and I hope that maybe they are just working the kinks out - still question the value though.
I was very eager to try Sammie's. As a native Austinite myself, the location holds a special spot in my heart. I couldn't have been more impressed with the way they remodeled the building while keeping the same general character and bones that we all loved. Including the steps leading to the back of the dining room. The ambiance was great, the bread was delicious and our portion sizes were mostly Texas sized which I was happy about - whether it's chicken fried steak or chicken parmesan, we dont need California plating in our restaurants -especially when ordering anything breaded! :) The flavors were great, but quite possibly the most surprising bonus through the meal was the overall richness and satisfaction I found from the side of spaghetti aglio e olio. Everyone loves a side of spaghetti noodles with their dish, but these went above and beyond my expectations. Overall it was good vibes, good food, with Austin heart.
Way way waaaaay too loud to have a conversation! Do not bring your parents here!
Absolutely delicious. Only negative notes: Wine list was quite pricey (only a couple bottles below ~$100 mark), and the noise level was a factor - we were having trouble hearing each other at a 5 person table. Both the service and food were phenomenal, and the old school Italian-American aesthetic made for great ambience. A great vibe all around, can’t wait to go back!
Sammie's has firmly secured its rightful place at the top of my list of Italian places in Austin. Between the location, the building itself, the decor, the service, and of course the food, Sammie's delivers in every way. I cannot wait to take friends and family here when they visit in Austin, and hope that it remains a fixture of the Austin restaurant scene for a very long time.
Sammie's was such a great vibe, along with amazing service and food. We went on a rainy Tues night at 9:30 PM and you would have thought it was Sat night when we walked in. Can't wait to go back!
The service here was wonderful from start to finish. Right when we walked through the door we were treated so nicely. The food was great as well. Did not take long to come out and was still hot when it reached our table. 100% would go back!
I don’t see a compelling reason to choose Sammie”s over chain Italian like Maggiano’s, especially at 3x the price. The ambiance is nice and the food is good but doesn’t merit the price.
Fabulous dinner and fun atmosphere. Service was awesome. A bit noisy and hard to talk.
Sammie’s was fabulous! We ordered the mozzarella sticks, bucatini carbonara, spaghetti and meatballs, chocolate molten cake + brown butter gelato, and a few cocktails. Everything was so good, but the spaghetti and meatballs was literally the best I’ve ever had. The service was about a 4/5–everyone was really nice but they seemed a little rushed and weren’t super chatty with us. You should also expect to have to yell at each other as it’s pretty loud, but the vibes are phenomenal. Classic Italian + bumpin’ music. So good!
Probably not the best spot for a family with young children, however no glass was broken, my two martinis were perfect and my children’s butter noodles were supreme. Best for adults and children over 4! Can’t wait to go back for a date night or with friends.
Austin FINALLY has an Italian restaurant worth bragging about. The food is fantastic and service is impeccable.
Atmosphere and service was amazing, but the food and drinks we were served almost all had issues. I've contacted the manager for a remedy as we were left very disappointed with our meal.
Loved the night! Table agreed the food was on the salty side. The restaurant is over the top too loud! Will definitely return.
Great service and wine list. We enjoyed the energetic atmosphere and delicious food.
Total vibe & amazing food. Loud & crowded!
Place slammed, gooooood food
We totally loved the service! The food was very classic NYC/NJ italian. We are going back foe the service! And, the food was good too!
Food was excellent! We shared 3 apps all were very good dinner we had veal parmigiana was very tender and a special which was pasta and lobster in a spicy marinara sauce. Dessert was also very good with the New York cheesecake, tiramisu and the chocolate molten cake. Very nice wine selection. We will definitely be back!
I am a HUGE fan of everything MML does, this is no exception. This space has been only open for about a week so I know it will get better. Some of the items were not steller as would be expected from this group, but it is very new so I will absolutely be back. Drinks 10, Service 10, Ambiance 10, Some of the items were not warm or properly seasoned, but again all this is new. -
This is the restaurant Austin has been missing. Great vibe. Best service. Delicious drinks. Go when you can!
The atmosphere was great but very very loud. We had trouble hearing our friends at the same booth by about 7:30.
The food was superb and the service excellent. The only complaint was that the burrata appetizer was way to small for four. Wish they had said we might need another app.
Sammie’s absolutely nailed it. The Italian food was second-to-none in Austin. They’ve got my highest recommendation! What a blast!
