   We got there early so it was quiet. Our server was very nice and everyone in our party of 4 loved their food.

   I heard from a trusted seafood aficionado the food was great but I was disappointed. The entree crabcakes were small, wet, and not well seasoned. The crab soup needed both thickening but, the crab dip was very good. They advertise that the calamari is hand cut. That's questionable but it certainly was over-battered & fried too hard until they were chewy. It was Friday around 1:30pm in Downtown Richmond VA so it really was amazingly quiet as it wasn't busy at all. Service was ok. For me, if the lunch meal doesn't cut it, I won't suggest it for other meals or groups.

   What happened to this restaurant? Admittedly it had been years since I had been in Shockoe Bottom. This once-popular destination is in desperate need of an overhaul. I don't think the furniture had been updated in 30 years; it smelled like it needed a good cleaning; and the vibe was "retirement home". On a Saturday night, we had an entire dining room to ourselves. That should have been a sign. On the upside, the waitress was great and the food wasn't bad. A makeover could make a real difference here.

   Food was OK but not worth the cost .The fried pork bites were like four or six little nuggets for eight dollars. A simple hamburger was 14 & It was nothing special special

   Went during restaurant week with 5 girl friends. It was a 3-course fixed price menu. The food was delicious. The hostess who took our reservations and seated us was friendly and informative. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing, and patient with a group of 6 friends who hadn't seen each other in a while, and was charming bringing 6 separate checks.

   This restaurant was dead at 6pm on a Saturday with only one waitress working a large party and 3 other tables. We had an appetizer and drink and walked down to another restaurant with better ambiance and food.

   We were a table of 8 adults at Sam Miller's on a busy Saturday night. There was no issue at all with the service [Kevin was terrific] and everyone was very happy with what they ordered. Beer was nice and cold, the wine was great and the price on everything was quite reasonable. Great atmosphere with a big bar. What's not to like ?

    Made a reservation but the dining room was pretty empty for a Friday night. We ended up sitting at a bar booth because there was no happy hour in the dining room. Even on happy hour the food was pricey- $8 for ONE TACO. And the food quality was good, but not great. Probably wouldn’t go back for happy hour.
