Dinner was a large portion and delicious. Our server Sue was exceptional! She was very attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed the delicious shrimp cocktail, salad, steak, chicken paprika and chicken thighs. Our side dishes were roasted potatoes, honey carrots and mashed potatoes. Everything was great! The strawberry margarita and chocolate chip espresso martini were yummy!

We will be back, the food was very good but there were a few things that were off. Service was slow, lemon for one of the appetizers still had the sticker on it. I made reservations and we were sat at the back by the kitchen door, I also noted on the reservation we were celebrating a birthday. I was not expecting anything but an acknowledgment of the birthday. A simple, I understand we are celebration tonight would have been nice. The sever was busy but we had to remind her 3 times to bring our drinks…we had bread and appetizer before our drinks. The haddock was delicious, as was the KC strip The sides were included with the steak also which was nice, and the carrots were unusual and great. Would love to see them add baked potato to the menu. We will be back but probably not on a weekend

Salvatore’s came highly recommended! Are they a steakhouse? Are they an Italian restaurant? Is seafood their thing? A bit of an identity crisis, but people LOVE it! Within 15 minutes of arriving the dining room was full , the patio had a few seats and the bar was completely packed, all on a Thursday evening. Extremely loud as there are no soft surfaces to absorb and tame sound - that needs work. Food was good - appetizers and pasta were the stars of the show! The chopped wedge salad was made with pre-chopped bagged lettuce that was browning, tomatoes had been pre-cut at least a day earlier and there was no bacon. Dinner was eh. The steak needed the sauce, the snapper was thick and lacking flavor. Sides were reminiscent of a diner - except for the mushrooms, they were delish. Dessert was homemade and fun.

Overall disappointing. Between having to listen to a little girl who couldn’t have been older than 10 sitting at the bar kicking her feet nonstop and the amount of chaos coming from the staircase next to where we were sat, the ambience couldn’t have been less enjoyable. For a place marketing themselves as a steakhouse, it’s confusing how they couldn’t even correctly make a medium rare steak. The taste of shoe leather is still stuck between my teeth. Ultimately the place seems poorly run with waitstaff seeming clueless and no signs of a manager. Crème brûlée and cheesecake desserts were the only decent part of the evening.

Beautiful renovation of this old neighborhood restaurant. The bar area is fantastic; cocktails are top tier. We ordered steak and oysters and icebox cake for dessert. The steak was very good, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sides were a little disappointing (creamed spinach was kind of watery, mushrooms were a little bland, something tasted "off" with my port wine sauce). The oysters were excellent. Icebox cake was pretty darn close to how my Aunty Linda used to make it. Our server Shane was a delight. Only one snafu - we had ordered the oysters as an appetizer. But the first thing to come out was my steak; my date's steak came about 2-3 min. later - always awkward to have two people at the table and only one with their food for a few minutes. Oysters didn't come out until about mid-way through the meal. It was clear that something got mixed up in the kitchen which is OK; it happens. We will definitely be back - I'm dying to try the pasta. The only thing that held me back from giving the food 5 stars is our favorite steakhouse is Washington Prime and the food here is just not quite at that level (but the prices aren't as crazy either). For Hamden, it's a fantastic addition to the scene!! And you can't beat the vibes.

Heard a lot of hype, was mildly disappointed. Food was average, too much butter and salt for my taste. Server was attentive and very good, nice atmosphere

It was Father’s Day so very busy. Out of a few items. BUT food was excellent, service was superb. We were told that the kitchen was a little backed up. But food arrived hot and delicious

First let me say that I heard that it was very loud. I asked for a quiet corner and found out that they have a back room that is lovely and quiet. So noise level was not an issue for us. Our waiter, David, was amazing, attentive, knowledgable, friendly... all the things you should be able to expect but rarely get. My husband had the pork chops and I had the halibut. We go out quite often and both of these meals were the best we have had anywhere in a very long time. The place is beautiful with a gorgeous bar, loud but if you are young, I'm sure you will like the vibe. There is also outside bar and patio. I can't say enough about Salvatores. We will be back shortly.
