I had a great experience at Salut in St. Paul! The happy hour deals were great, the service was professional, and the food was tasty. Would recommend!
Outside patio was COLD - no heaters. Had a drink and left to go elsewhere where we could sit inside. Indoors was very busy, atmosphere and food looked great!!
A reliable good eating time without much that's comparable in the area.
Had a very nice Mother’s Day brunch!
My wife and I go to Salut for special occasions like wedding anniversaries, and it never disappoints. The calamari appetizer, the filet and salmon entrees, and the wines were all great. The menu is limited coming out of the pandemic, but what's on the menu is still very good. The service was very pleasant and attentive as well.
We had reservations and were told we were seated at the ‘VIP’ table. It was noisy and in the thoroughfare so definitely not a pleasant experience. The food was good but pricy for the entree’s.
First date with wife since covid
We came here early for Mother’s Day. I was excited to try the mussels and lucky for me they were on the happy hour menu as well! Huge mussels and very tasty! My husband had oysters and he loved them. I was so full from the mussels that we decided to split a Caesar salad and the walleye meunière! Definitely NOT a disappointment. The salad actually had anchovies which made my husband very happy! I did without and still very creamy! We split the walleye and since my husband brings fish back from Canada- I have high expectations- again did not disappoint- lemon butter sauce with capers and crispy fish- what more could you ask? Unfortunately the asparagus we substituted was woody on one end but otherwise a great complement to the dish. My husband had the creme de pot for dessert and loved it. I had the creme brûlée- again I’m pretty picky, but the sugar glaze was burnt and the creme was way too sweet- but edible. All in all we were happy with our dinner and plan to be back!! Thanks for a great Mother’s Day
Dinner ( maybe you should have had a few specials on Saturday night too!!) our server Cassie was exceptional and kept our food and drinks coming- but wasn’t pushy- we appreciated that!!!
Perhaps this is attributable to post COVID re-start, but the service was terrible and inattentive. We had to retrieve our own silverware, server did not check on our food after it was delivered, and I had walk the restaurant to find someone to ring our bill. Food was extremely slow coming out of the kitchen, and our steaks were slightly over-cooked (probably sat under the heat lamps awaiting our server). Despite all that, food was tasty.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes
EXCELLENT service. Felt safe, we were 8’ from next table.
The service was very good. The food was excellent.
Charming, quaint restaurant, able to to carry on a conversation and delicious food!
It was a good experience.
Great birthday meal
Salut is one of my favorite hangouts! They have a great menu and whether inside or on the patio, I've always had great service. Highly recommend!
Patio is lovely
Service was fine but the food was overpriced, uninspired, and mediocre at best.
We waited for a long time for our food. We ordered impossible burger and short rib Tagine. The Burger was so dry and the rice in the tagine was way overcooked. It’s not worth the price we paid for the food.
Maybe a bit cool for outdoor dining but quite enjoyable nonetheless. This was our first dining out experience in more than 15 months and we know why we have missed it so much. Service was a little slow, I think because the server was trying to handle too many tables. The food was quite good which we have always found to be the case at Salut.
Love the bar high top tables near the open French doors. Excellent service. Ditto on food!
The atmosphere is very pleasant and appropriate for a Grand Avenue cafe. The service was exceptional; not intrusive but our needs were well met and addressed. The food was prepared very nicely and the flavors were authentic. The price was reasonable and the evening enjoyable primarily because of the staff.
On this occasion we all ordered the Sunday 3 course special. I had the Tenderloin medallions, which were overcooked, not lightly sautéed. The Demi glace was bland. My wife’s salmon was unevenly cooked.
The Cesar salad was nice, crisp.
We went to salut for the seafood tower and they are not serving that currently and the menu was pretty limited to their standard fare.
We were seated immediately, and had very good service. I enjoy this menu, with a variety of selections and prices. Our mussels were outstanding! And the Pomme Frites delicious! I recommend both.
This is a place that is taking COVID precautions seriously, while at the same time maintaining warmth, friendliness and quality.
I am a regular at Salut but must say I was very disappointed with the food quality. My salad was dry, the Parmesan crisps were stale and my steak undercooked. My husbands meal was good but mine was awful. Service was good but for a $20 salad, it should be good.
Salut was perfect spot for date night! Delicious food and drinks, and superb service!
Delicious food, attentive service, good prices. Great menu options for kids, fun mocktails as well as a stellar wine list.
I usually have great food at Salut but not this time. The beef medallions were overcooked and dry. I should have sent them back, but didn't.
The service started good and then the server disappeared. I waited a long time to order a second glass of wine; then, there was a long wait until the wine came.
We enjoyed our dinner! Atmostphere was inline with what we expected, high wine prices kept us from getting a bottle, but food and service was excellent!
The food and service was excellent. We will be back to enjoy the patio. Thank-you!
This is one of our go to places for special celebrations. The food is always great. They offer a limited menue that changes regularly, but they do what they do really well.
Salut is always a nice place to gather with friends. I was very disappointed in the minimal Happy Hour selections and no food on the menu. It used to be a great place for Happy Hour. Not anymore
I understand why it’s happening now but I was very disappointed at the limited number of items on menu. Shrimp cocktail was really great but the most I’ve had to pay for that is $15.00. Also think trust me when I say “mine is 10 times better!
It was good. Server forgot to put our order in so food took forever. Food was a little bland.
It was lovely to be back. The arrangement of the tables makes it feel very safe. The food was delicious, but the walleye was skimpy. There was nothing to sop up the lemon caper sauce with—it needed bread or rice or something. There was no acknowledgement of my birthday even though the reservation mentioned it. Service was great. I’d go there again in a minute. I’d order the fish again. It was delicious.
I had salmon on the three course Sunday Supper. Overall, the food was great except:
1. The asparagus was tough.
2. I enjoyed the topping on the salmon, but it was very spicy (even hot). That was OK for me but it might be overwhelming for some.
Oysters are back! Hard to find in Mn in the last year. Such good service, attentive but not intrusive. I love Salut!
