To start, restaurant claimed there was no OT reservation for our party of 4 + yet we were granted the OT points the next day. Two servers started our order, yet only the 2nd one continued w/us through our meal. He was very short w/us + it seemed as if he was put out that he had to wait on us. We requested that the PAmudic system be turned down a bit because we couldn’t hear one another at the table nor could our waiter understand us when ordering. No change in volume; almost seemed as if it was louder. Waiter was so condescending to us, our tip showed our frustration + disappointment. As far as the food was concerned, we had ordered a variety of dishes from $ to $$$$. Food was good, but way over priced. Also, a service charge was automatically added for labor + service. Really? Thad how owners are going to “make up” $$ after Covid? Shame on them. Pay your staff! .

The restaurant look amazing, great decorations and atmosphere, the food on the other hand is a different story. The appetizers and Cesar salads were good but the filet mignon and NY steaks were very over done.
Not worth the pricing. Both the Tuna and Steak were tough. Nice appearance.
Our waiter was personable and nice and when we said no thank you to dessert except for a single dessert to share, he said, “I’ll take care of you” and brought two more desserts for the table (which weren’t very good or fresh). And then they showed up on the bill for $24 plus 20% included tip = $29 we didn’t ask for or agree to. Not cool.
While the food looked amazing, it lacked in flavor and was really bland. I had the sea bass, crab cake, and scallops. It wasn’t anything I’d come back for nor recommend to someone who’s never been
Lovely ambiance. White tablecloths. Attentive service. Excellent food.
Great place. Been here twice and I will keep coming back.
Spent close to $300 on dinner and sadly it just wasn’t worth it. The open doors allowed for the smell of cigarettes and weed to waft in. The king crab still had green guts in the body meat and was cut in a way that made it impossible to pull out the inedible tendrils and therefore I was left constantly being surprised to bite down on gross hard crab cartilage. Sadly just would not recommend this place.
Great place and fantastic staff. My wife and I really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant along with the great music. We will definitely be going back!
Great food, great service. Very enjoyable setting.
Our first time here after looking in the windows during covid at the cool interior. Great inside, great seating outside! The food was excellent as you would expect from a white table cloth place ... we had tuna tartare - sushi grade, great. The beef tartare .. perfectly spiced, not trying too hard, excellent, great jumbo prawns and an excellent lobster with pasta ... we would get everything again. This will be out new go to for ourselves and when guests are in town. Lots of fun bars and music within 50 yards so that great after dinner. Our waiter Gio was great ...
Saltwater is too nice of a place for us to wait for over an hour to get our food. This pretty much killed it for us to come back.
Such a beautiful place with amazing interior designe. Good food. Friendly staff. Definitely will be back. Thank you
Service was amazing!!! Seafood choices were also outstanding. Steak choice was not as good, however, their specialty is fish.
Our reservation was for OUTDOOR DINING. Got there and we were inside. Otherwise overall is good
If you want great seafood downtown, you need to go here. The food was amazing. From the Heirloom tomato and crab salad to the Tuna. We also threw in some Waygu beef to share (an off menu special) Waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. Really enjoyed and will be going back. Not crowded at all Friday night at 6:30 pm
Food preparation was very poor particularly since there were very few patrons.
The food was mediocre for the price. Would not recommend it.
Food was great but
Decor is nice and service very attentive. The food was just okay. Not much flavor to mushrooms and shishito peppers side dish. Cannoli was good.
Absolutely a great experience
Loved the food. The service needs to be better, way better.
I would recommend this restaurant because the food is worth it.
It was clear that Saltwater was not expecting the number of people who showed up for Mother’s Day dinner. Our server was clearly overwhelmed and the service suffered because of it. Our kids entrees showed up two minutes after their salads arrived, the champagne that came with the Mother’s Day menu didn’t show up until after dessert, and our appetizer showed up after our entree. They were out of two of the things we ordered. The lobster, crab, and shrimp on the seafood tower were over cooked and it was readily apparent that the chef had forgotten to season the water they were cooked in. The manager was apologetic and gave us a discount on the check. Even with the discount, however, the experience was terrible and cost far more than the service and quality of food we received warranted. I hope, for the restaurant’s sake, that they were caught off guard by the number of people who showed up. Reviews from others are quite good. Fingers crossed it was an off night. That said, we won’t be going back.
the food was delicious, but the server was very busy, he forgot to bring the bread, the salt and lemon for the brussels sprouts( we asked him 3 or 4 times)
Great food and drink, sub-par service
I was in town by myself and wanted a really nice meal for my birthday; after having looked at menus and walking around the Gaslamp District the previous couple days I decided to dine at Saltwater and made a reservation online for 1. OpenTable took the reservation with no problems and confirmed it, again with no problems indicated.
When I arrived and checked in with the hostess the conversation went thus:
"Umm, yeah, do you mind sitting at the bar? We don't really have any two-tops available?"
"How long do you anticipate until a table is ready?"
"It might be a while. I guess we could seat you at a four-top. Are you sure you wouldn't like to sit at the bar?"
I ended up sitting at the bar for two reasons:
1. I felt it was ridiculous for me to take up a larger table, and potentially screw somebody else's reservation up because of the restaurant's screw up.
2. This was 7:30 on a Saturday night; if I decided to go elsewhere I was likely going to face a long wait for a table or sit at a bar anyways.
When I was seated at the bar the bartender (Jessie?) didn't seem too interested in much else than her phone. She would later be reprimanded by a manager to wear her face mask, while his was pulled down over his chin.
I ordered a drink and when I got it the drink and food menus were both pulled without being asked if I wanted to order food. When I was ready to order an appetizer I did it from memory but had to ask for a menu again to order my entrée; before I was able to order my entrée a second bartender (or manager?) tried to pull the menu without asking if I wanted to order anything else.
The food was fantastic. I ordered the Little Neck clams for an appetizer and the scallops with the corn crème brulee for my entrée; everything was cooked perfectly and the scallops were plated beautifully. I had a few of the Smoke cocktails, and thought the rosemary smoke was a great twist to the standard Old Fashioned.
The setting of this restaurant is what one expects from a downtown. Very busy and service was stressed though in timing. Nevertheless, the food is very good. The grilled seafood special was worth the choice: prawns, scallops and a generously sized lobster tail. Oh, and fhe Manhattan was as perfect as described on the menu.
Started bad and just got worse. This restaurant needs major help in service and delivery of food. Our reservation was early 6:15-6:30 so no reason they did not deliver. Drinks were outrageous. 15.00 for a single shot of whiskey and Diet Coke. Food was delivered but was not complete. No melted butter, bread . We saw our waitress one time. We finally ask for the manager so we could pay and leave. He wasn’t any better. Save your time and picked another great seafood restaurant in the area. We tried 4 others and all exceeded our expectations. Saltwater is a NO GO!! Horrible!!!
The service and food was horrible
The noise was at a level to ensure that we will not return, even though the food was good and the service something to be proud of.
Service was impeccable and food was fresh and prepared perfectly!
We dined inside during their second week of operation post COVID closure so they were still working out the kinks in their process so it was a little slow and shaky but that was acceptable due to circumstances!
The service was personal and the food was outstanding! We will return again soon!
Food was got but the price was too much and the service was subpar.
Dinner for a birthday. I am glad they could accommodate a party of 6 on short notice when all other restaurants were booked. Service was a bit all over the place. The forgot drink orders and we had to ask again, the didn’t know who ordered what dish when the food came, and we waited at least 20 minutes for the check when were one of the only tables left at the restaurant. Food was great, but they were out of certain dishes, and drinks were fantastic!
The food, Service, and overall experience was amazing. Kudos to our waiter for giving us a free treat of Donuts on a tree for desert. It was all just amazing
Our waiter was great, super personable but that is the only positive.
The drinks were awful, the food was mediocre at best and the clientele at the restaurant was certainly not near the mark of fine dining.
$350 later, we were not only still hungry but completely disappointed should have gone to Greystone...
Excellent evening out, great service and food.
My sister birthday. Didn’t like that at 10pm loud music came on as “turns into nightclub”
food was incredibly delicious!
Best waiter we’ve ever had
