Salt Rock Grill
All of our Steaks are hand cut U.S.D.A. Prime or Choice Grade Beef from top midwestern feeders. We age them four to six weeks in our in-house temperature controlled aging room to develop maximum flavor and tenderness. Then we grill them over our natural oak and citrus wood pit fire. You won't find a better steak. Our chefs have developed partnerships with local fisherman and companies that provided us with fresh dayboat caught seafood selections from our gulf waters and beyond. Contact the restaurant for current menus.
The BEST of everything! We loved the Mahi Mahi with crabmeat and lemon cream sauce tonight, it was divine! The flow of the service to our table was was impeccable. Can’t rave enough about Salt Rock Grill.
Extremely loud table ruined our and several other families near us. Complained but received apology from manager.
Food and service were excellent as always. It was a very busy night but we felt that we were treated as the primary guest at the time.
Alex our server was greatly appreciated
We enjoyed our evening out with friends. The Parmesan Grouper was one of the best dishes I have had.
We ended up i. A corner booth, facing a wall, for a 30th bday dinner, wasn't my best experience.
Waiter way too loud, early bird supper menu should be explained more clearly. Another table's selection was brought to our table ,should have been ret'd to kitchen instead of being given to right person. My husband had almost placed his fork in the meat.
Went with friends. Had a lovely visit and delicious meal.
Best food ever and Thomas was a great waiter! Explained everything and very knowledgeable of all the menu!
Always a favorite. Great food and professional service. Too cold to sit outside tonight, but view was great as well. Thank you!
We have eaten there twice and both times the food was delicious. Seafood is fresh, oysters and stone crabs were the cause of our repeat dining . Recommend you going .
Visiting our children who live in St Pete.
Excellent in every way. excellent food, atmosphere and choices. here on vacation, found out about it from neighbors in the next condo. 2 trips in less than a week. plan on being a regular anytime in town.
Everything was great, but I think they could use more wait staff.
Had a great time and the food was fabulous. You could tell everyone in the restaurant had very much experience
Delicious lunch. Wonderful service. Charming view..
Very long-standing, successful restaurant that continues to innovate and update.
Delicious food and pleasant environment. Staff was professional and knowledgeable about dishes
Everytime we go to Salt Rock Grill we are never disappointed..Fabulous staff and food! We always make plans to take out of town family and friends there. Very special restaurant to have here locally.
Excellent service food and ambiance! Would definitely go back when in town.
Great place for fresh seafood. Service was good and quality of food was good.
We were celebrating birthdays. Pros: Excellent food!! Three of us had filets and my niece had red snapper and a soft shell crab, which she raved about. We all enjoyed our meals. The filets were cooked perfectly. Cons: Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, even though we had a reservation, and the restaurant was extremely noisy - it was difficult to hear each other talk. But overall, it was good and I will go back!
Food and service were very good but the noise level was way too loud.
Great service and delicious meals!
excellent in every way ..great food excellent wine list friendly attentive wait staff wonderful views
It was my husband’s birthday. It was so loud you could not hear yourself think. Had to shout to have a conversation.
Waiter had too many tables to manage so a lot of delays. He forgot several things. Never got the 2nd glass of white wine and had to send the Moscow Mule back because it tasted terrible.
Shrimp Cocktail...gross. The shrimp still had the veins in them. I ate one before I realized It. I was grossed out after that.
Entree that my husband had was good - Red Snapper and Scallops.
We are locals and will not return.
The food was great, the service was good. But a very uncomfortable ending. There were 6 people and we asked for three checks. Two were brought, and all the drinks and bottles of wine were put on one bill. Clarify please , it’s awkward and very expensive to pay for everyone’s alcoholic beverages! Left a bad taste to a nice evening!
This was our 3rd time there and we were so disappointed. Steaks were dry and had no flavor. Stone Crab was slimy.
Wonderful place to celebrate any event.
We celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary and the meal was spectacular.
We have had many meals @ Salt Rock and never a disappointment.
Had a very nice birthday the bar maid was so great & our waiter was quite but knew his stuff wish we could afford to go more often
Food was excellent for the price as they have an early bird special menu. Food was excellent but menu descriptions were not very good at all.
Good food and early bird is a very good value for the price
9th Wedding Anniversary
Great service and meal at the Salt Rock. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the deck.
Why no 100 points?
I also submitted this review on another site.
I have been coming to Salt Rock for approx. 20 years and let's just say this visit was not "their finest hour". I gave them a 4 star rating as this is the first time everything was not close to perfect. I will start with the bad: after convincing myself the (snapper?) entree with the soft shell crab was the way to go---and describing how my mother would lightly fry them, etc.-- I was informed after 15-20 minutes they were out of this item. This issue affected the pace of service as they would be just starting my entree. I decided to pick the filet oscar which was my second choice. My wife "picked her own" at the suggestion of our server (Melinda from Minnesota---who was very good); she chose the grouper with coconut shrimp. A few? minutes later we were informed the shrimp was not available (huh?)---so my wife opted for the blackened grouper without the shrimp...so the wait began. I love a relaxing well paced meal, but now we were in no man's land with the wait. Well, the food arrived and guess what---no oscar. :I I asked the server not to bother adding it--and she said she would insure I was not charged for it. :O A small note--we reserved on Open Table and I indicated it was an anniversary meal (a delayed 35th)--and there was no mention of it the entire evening. I suggest Salt Rock remove that "special occasion" option on Open Table if it has no meaning. Our final "bad" is a suggestion---make outside seating also non-smoking.
Now the good---all the food and drink. I rarely drink, but we each had a drink--a Mojito and a Moscow Mule--which were excellent. The bacon wrapped scallops with the hint of wood fired flavor were also excellent. The bread was hot out of the oven, we loved the salad and the entrees were prepared exactly as ordered--less the shrimp and oscar. :).
Bottom line---food and service did not disappoint but communication in house and special event recognition could be improved.
Awesome food and service
Excellent food, service and ambiance. Our server, Will, was as very considerate to any requests we had. A very enjoyable meal. On the Intercostal Waterway in Indian Shores. Across the street from the Gulf.
Steak was raw, had to send back and then when it was cooked it tasted oily, jalepona potatoes were soupy, changed to cauliflower and it had a oily taste. It used to e our favourite place.
Our seat was fantastic with a beautiful view and our server was very knowledgeable. I have Celiac and have to eat a gluten free diet and they accommodated me perfectly! Their mixed drinks are a bit pricy for what you get compared to other restaurants in the area. Not sure they are worth that much. The food was great! Timing was perfect and we didn't feel rushed. It was a special occasion, so we wanted to enjoy it, which we did!
This is the go.to restaurant if you want a nice night out or entertaining family and friends. Top notch! Great Management!
