Located in the heart of Davis Square, Saloon is inspired by the iconic New York City pre-prohibition establishment. With a focus on brown liquors and local beers, Saloon calls reference to a time when drinks were serious and uncomplicated. In the early 1900s, the saloon was the standard institution prominently found on street corners across major cities in young America. The bar program at Saloon features whiskey-based cocktails inspired by the era's classic drinks.

Food was superb - braised pork shank was the best!! As the bar/restaurant filled up, the noise level was too loud to hear across the table. Servers were very busy yet helpful.

We celebrated our Anniversary here after a co-worker recommended. We loved the vibe and the food. When we arrived for our 6:30 reservation we were seated promptly and the space was quiet - the longer we were there the more crowded it got. By the time we left at around 8:30 pm the place was packed. Our food was spectacular and the cocktail menu was really interesting. I'm 13 weeks pregnant and the bartender was really nice about making me mocktails so it felt authentic. Definitely, recommend.

Awesome location and great ambiance. The room is cozy and inviting. The drink menu is amazing if you like whiskey and bourbon. The food is ok but the menu is small but with the right set of options. This place is all about the drinks.

Menu is limited but good, food wise not ideal or designed for vegetarians or pescatarians, but overall a really fun basement dwelling with an extensive drink menu. Cool red booths, but lots of hard surfaces and very dark. It is super loud post 7pm. We were there for St. Patrick's day most recently and it was too loud, not enough staff, took over 10 minutes to be recognized and served water, had to ask for it. Once the server did attend to our table he was great. The vibe is fun, not good for children or teens or if you want to have a conversation without shouting. Will go back, just not on St. Patrick's day- if you want rowdy on this holiday- go! It's Davis Square, Boston, a great place to celebrate with friends.

Ambiance was so fun! The speakeasy setup, the old dark wood work, antique mirrors pairs perfectly with the traditional prohibition craft cocktails. Get the flask for two from the bar great way to stay on theme!! The food was also spot on. Definitely coming back!

Great ambience and bar setting. Food is yummy but on the heavy side - would be nice to see fresh veggies/salads and/or lighter appetizers on the menu. Staff friendly and welcoming.

I'm already a whiskey lover but the things they do with their whiskey in cocktails can make even non-whiskey lovers appreciate it!
