Service was not good but food was better than average
So great! Delicious food and excellent service.
Fabulous as usual! This is a great restaurant with such outstanding service and yummy delicious food and desserts
Chef Pirozzi’s Salerno Ristorante is our favorite spot in Laguna Beach. We like Alessa too, but Salerno’s is our favorite. The food is always delicious and they have a nice reasonably priced selection of wine either by the glass or bottle. I love the 50/50 but the Lamb was amazing last Saturday. It’s all good and is as close as we can get to Italy at the moment. To top it off, our server, Larissa is the best!
I was expecting a lot more flavor and authentic Italian food. The bread basket was too small of a portion for 5 people but, the olive oil for dipping was pretty good. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and there was a hair on a small piece so we just put it aside a gave it a try anyways. It had no flavor but, it was good quality calamari and a good portion amount. The food wasn’t too bad but basic for the price. The utensils and plates were worn out and didn’t look good on the table. The server and staff were pretty nice and attentive. Won’t be returning.
Super romantic and charming atmosphere! Incredible food, family style.
Wonderful food and the chef was so personable. He made sure our evening was special.
Everything was good except the waitress that I was expecting to have a nicer friendlier attitude she was fast cutting me off when I asked her questions couple of times and have some attitude. We went there for my husbands birthday on April 9th. We live locally and that makes be hesitate to go back there again for a special event like that.
Delicious food with a beautiful presentation. So pleased they now have outdoor seating to enjoy the weather and people watch.
Disappointed, I have had much better quality food and service at other comparable restaurants!
Perhaps it was the fact that Salerno's had been closed for quite a while due to covid, but when I last ate there pre-covid, the food was considerably better. The food at this visit was okay, but nothing that I would remember.
I'll certainly try it again in a month or so for 2nd chance after such a long closure.
Hi, thank you for letting us know and for your understanding. We are sorry that the food you received was not up to par and we will do our best to ensure that you get a better experience next time.
I’ve been dining at Chef’s restaurant’s for many years, but this last time was very disappointing, service was poor, and food was ok, sat there 21/2 hours, hopefully they can get it together.
Food is always solid here. Prefer the ambiance here to his other place Alessa. The Wild Boar gnocchi is a standout.
Food was just average for an allegedly upscale restaurant. We were looking forward to a great meal. We were disappointed.
Been trying to get in there for years. Was even better than I expected!
The food was amazing, worth it!!
Food great, service good.
We’re seated outside, told no indoor tables yet two couples were seated inside after we sat down without any patrons leaving the restaurant.
That was felt to be a snub
So glad to return, it was amazing! The spagetti verde was epic
Wonderful dining experience. Food, service and atmosphere all excellent
Great meal with handmade pasta. Just as great as my favorite Italian places in NY and NJ. They even had recommendations for wines similar to what we like. Valpolicella for Amarone.
Great execution in the kitchen
Food was not up to the normal standards unfortunately.
Too fun. Ate outside, social distancing, great food and service
Excellent dining as always.
I have been eating at Salerno’s for years! Love that place. The interior was redone and a four seat bar area was created. Looks great. We had the linguine and clams which were amazing!! Light wine and lemon and big, fatty clams. Shared the house salad. Service was great! I adore the little toasts with the pesto sauce. If you haven’t been there, you need to try it.
Everything here is a la carte, so plan on buying a salad separately from an entree.
Entrees were good enough but pretty pricey for what they are -- a lot of pasta and a little sauce. It isn't unique to this Italian restaurant, but $21 for a plate of pasta with butter and cheese and a little prosciutto on top is pretty expensive.
We didn't have any wine, so can't comment on the wine list except to say that it seems extensive. It took up the entire back of the menu.
Do support your local restaurants to keep them up and running, though.
Father’s Day dinner night before
Tasty food, great ambiance, just the service was a little slow (could be in part to reduced staff because of COVID-19).
Absolutely wonderful dinner with family after a long week. You will not be disappointed with anything. The food, ambiance and especially the service. One of if not my favorite restaurants in Laguna Beach.
My family came for our first visit to celebrate two birthdays. We had an early reservation but the place was already packed. Our table was ready, and we were seated immediately. The venue wasn’t large, yet there were so many tables packed into the small space, it felt like a fire hazard. Staff was friendly and attentive, but service was slow, probably because there only seemed to be two servers. After we placed our order we were served warm bread and a delicious pesto olive oil. We shared a Baby Kale Salad, which was more than enough for three. Next came our entrees: Lobster Ravioli, Black Tagliatelle and Superfood Ravioli. Each was delicate and delicious. After our plates were cleared, we opened presents, feeling I rushed by staff. When we asked for the check, the server surprised us with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for each of the birthday guests at our table, which was delicious. Our overall experience was extremely positive, with our only complaint being the extremely loud noise level. We could barely hear each other as we friend to carry on a conversation during the meal. We resorted to a lot of shouting, which left us slightly hoarse by the end. I have no doubt I will return again to enjoy another delicious meal.
Excellent service, and great appetizers made fo ra wonderful dinner out. Highly recommend Salerno's
Fast service and good tasting dinner
Wonderful wonderful service. One of our favorites ❤️
My favorite restaurant in US. Amazing food, drink, service... everything! It's completely worth every single dollar.
Best Italian food I have had since I moved to California 5 years ago!!!
My wife and I chose this restaurant based on Open Table rating. It exceeded our expectations. The food is authentic Italian (and this is coming from a full-blooded Italian-American). The meatball appetizer was phenomenal as was the fettuccini alfredo. The pasta is homemade. Finished up with an excellent dessert. Finally the service was exceptional. Highly recommend Salerno.
The food was excellent. A nice cozy restaurant with great service and great food. I would highly recomment it.
Excellent food, on the more expensive side for dining out. On a holiday you may find yourself struggling to find an appropriate volume to speak at to hear your party as it is relatively small and packed tightly. Service is quick and friendly. I will be dining here again no doubt!
It was Valentine’s and everything was perfect.. the rose at the end was a nice touch 😊
I ordered the Healthy Salmon & Pasta, which was outstanding. My wife ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana. She was disappointed that it was fried slices of coated eggplant. Stick with the Salmon & Pasta!
