Our new favorite place for seafood, St James Seafood is has delicious, fresh, and creative dishes and appetizers, with superb & accommodating service. We are obsessed with the Nautilus seafood tower (for 3-4, but perfect main meal for two), and we haven’t explored the rest of the menu as much as we’d like. Great cocktails and wine selection too.
Good food in the time of coronavirus -- Helped a friend celebrate her birthday there last Saturday. Food was fantastic, and I was a bit relieved to see that tables were separated from each other by a larger gap than usual, and they were not skimping on the bleach when cleaning tables!
We had great service that was attentive but warm and welcoming. Every recommendation we ordered was truly exquisite. We’ll be back!
This restaurant was absolutely amazing!! The staff was so attentive even though it was a packed house. Food was delicious “Everything” we had taste exactly as described.
The food was fine...probably the best we have had in NC so far. But it wasn't outstanding. The crab dip tasted pretty much like straight hot mayo with a tiny bit of crab flavor. The fried calamari and oysters were very good. The shrimp and grits were also good, and we got the banana pudding donut for dessert and it was pretty good...the donut was a little dry. The prices were very high for the quality of the food...oh, and the drinks were good as well, but also pricey. So, we probably wouldn't go here again mainly because of the pricing, but the food was pretty good.
The brussell sprouts were the hit of the evening!!! Our entrees were good, I had the lobster roll and my dinner date had the scallops, the scallops looked amazing!
Perhaps the best restaurant in Durham, and there are a lot of great restaurants in Durham!
This place knows how to prepare seafood! Do yourself a favor and slip on by and try some fresh oysters and simple prepared seafood! Fantastic!
Seafood tower was banging, as always
Enjoy the food, restaurant and staff. Our table was in the bar area, and I don’t think we’ll sit there again. It got crowded with people standing at the bar and it felt like they were in our space
Best seafood restaurant around. Very cool decor and atmosphere. Recently reopened so hopefully the service will get ironed out and revert back to consistently good rather than disappointing.
I experienced was very nice the atmosphere was very nice the gentleman that served us was very nice and courteous I would recommend other friends and family members to check out Saint James if they get a chance only thing I didn't like was that they didn't have a bigger choice of the fried fish I prefer Croaker or either the red snappers and they did not have that but other than that everything else was great
St James is definitely back full force. Fabulous fresh seafood. Oysters shucked perfectly. Love this place.
Really good seafood at Saint James! My first time and I was expecting a "fine dining" vibe and you won't get that from the atmosphere. Very nautical theme with lots of maritime style lighting fixtures and some Red Lobster looking sea captain paintings. But, the service was really good and so was the food. Oysters Ashworth (like Rockefeller) was so good we ordered a second round. Several of us had fried shrimp and scallops (Calabash style) and it was very, very lightly breaded and was terrific. Super desserts (banana doughnut and silk chocolate pie) and are super big, so one is plenty for 2 folks and could even pacify 4 guests.
Amazing sea food
My husband ordered the calamari and it was just fair. I had the lobster roll and it was served cold. I expected it to be hot. The lobster was a bit rubbery.
The old bay fries were delicious as was the coleslaw.
Excellent ambiance and service. Our meal was $50++ so the value wasn't there.
Perhaps we ordered the wrong meals.
Great food and service- oysters and seafood stew-mmmmmmm, oh and the Jungle Bird cocktail- delicious! looking at the tables near by, everything looked awesome!
Great restaurant, with great food and service. I'm excited this place has come back as strong as it did.
The beat seafood place in Durham. Somehow the second time was better than the first!! Can’t wait to try the sandwiches next time.
Food was great on a busy Saturday night! We will be back soon.
Excellent food, service & prices. We will definitely be going back.
Food and service were phenomenal! We had a great night out and will return. Definitely save room for the banana pudding donut!
Service and attention was outstanding! We will continue to be frequent flyers
Incredible seafood and excellent service! So glad St James is back open.
Really good seafood and really good service. We had two different kinds of oysters and steamed clams for apps. Both were excellent. My wifehad the lobster roll and being from Mass. she is pretty picky. She loved it. Fish of the day was Trigger, I had it fried and it was fantastic!!
I am 70 and did not know our table was upstairs. Now I know to request lower level
Loved everything about this place! The atmosphere, food, presentation, and service! Our waitress Julie was the absolute best!!!
We enjoyed our time at Saint James. I wish we had sat upstairs. The food was delicious. It was a little noisy. The sun was a problem when we got there but it soon went down. The service was great.
Great fresh seafood in trendy urban chic setting. Staff is always very accommodating, and friendly.
What an amazing place! So glad they reopened! We ordered the Nautilus Tower, and it was so delicious!
We always love coming to Saint James! The food is always fabulous as is the ambience. So happy they are back!
Waitress was knowledgeable of how the food is made and how it tastes, Incase you look for recommendations. Drinks paired well with the food offered. Seafood was fresh and sauces served complimented well. We ordered crab, shrimp, and scallops and all weird delicious and tasted differently. Dislike when everything tastes the same. Will be coming back.
My only feed back was Aguachile: description had no peppers in it. Aguachile must have peppers, it’s in the name.
We had waited for St James to reopen to enjoy our first dining experience there and we were not disappointed. Only 4 weeks since they reopened they served up the best seafood we've eaten anywhere with excellent customer service from the moment we walked in the door to 90 minutes later leaving. The perfect combination of attention to our dining experience, delighting our taste palates, wrapped in a pleasant unhurried atmosphere. We'll be back and bring others.
We are so glad they have reopened!
Steam pot was overcooked and the menu is not great. The atmosphere and service was good thought.
Great that they're back with excellent food and ambience.
Our first trip back since they reopened after the disastrous explosion around the corner. They haven't lost a beat. Enjoyed a wonderful dinner on a Wednesday. They were packed, which tells you something when so many other places are barely occupied in the middle of the week.
Enjoyed a perfect cocktail, oysters, curried scallops, a wonderful Sea Bass, along with salad and desert.
Service from our favorite waiter, Josh, was courteous, friendly and knowledgeable, as always.
It is our favorite full service seafood restaurant in the Triangle!
good food and service but very slow on delivery of drinks and food
We were thrilled Saint James had reopened and enjoyed every morsel of our dinner. We even recognized a young lady who was our server on a previous visit and were glad to see her!
We enjoyed the mussels and the BBQ shrimp very much. Really liked the atmosphere and the tiki drinks.
