The date I booked Saigon was during Triangle Restaurant Week. Don't advertise you are participating if you are not!
We showed up and were told the restaurant was closed by someone changing a light bulb at the front door. I live in this neighborhood and Saigon rarely has more than 4-5 people eating in the restaurant at any given time when I walk by. I thought I'd give it a shot. I won't do it again and will let people know that the restaurant is closed.
We then had to find another restaurant to eat at during a very busy restaurant week.
We had a reservation tonight, a Sunday, for our party of 7. We arrived and the place was locked up tight. Why did they accept our reservation if they were closed?????
Great food and awesome experience. Seemed like a family owned. I had fish in a clay pot and that was amazing. My family ordered several other dishes and they all were wonderful. We will come back!
Excellent food and nice ambience. Definitely recommend if you like Asian fare. Yum!
Corteus service and great menu options for Asian meals. Serving size is generous. We had an appetizer, soup (Vietnamese hot and sour) and a main dish. Everything was super delicious and reasonably priced.
Having not had my favorite Vietnamese dishes since moving from the metro D.C. area 7 years ago, I was really craving them, and Saigon Grill made me really happy for dinner the last 2 Saturday evenings. On my first visit, my husband and I had the summer rolls and I had the banh xeo (crepe). The rolls were excellent and the banh xeo came with all the lovely herbs and lettuce to roll it up in as I hoped. Last Saturday, we brought friends with us so I could try the banh hoi ( thin rice vermicelli)...it was also what I was hoping for, having lots of herbs and lettuce in which to wrap everything else . Very refreshing and savory food for hot weather. The $5 martinis on Saturdays also enjoyable!
Great food, terrific service, great price, highly recommend!
Great food and service. The only negative was the dining area was a bit warm. Would definitely recommend and go return.
We had wonderful Pho on a cold, rainy night. So warm and perfectly spiced. We had great service and the price was very reasonable. We will be back.
Ate here on Good Friday at 6:30. It was quiet but started to pick up as we left, around 7:30. Restaurant is attractive. Food was good. Wine was unexpectedly better than most Asian restaurants. I hope it catches on as I definitely want to eat here again.
We hadn't had Vietnamese food in quite a while and glad we tried it. They could really use some more meatless options on the menu, however...I think vegetarians will be left with not many options. But the food that we tried was very well cooked and seasoned. Tons of flavor for a good reasonable price.
Saigon reopened as a Vietnamese ONLY restaurant which we didn’t know when we made the reservation. Not a deal breaker for most but as a heads up... There is NOTHING on the menu that doesn’t have noodles or carbs of some kind.
The waitress was friendly but very ditzy, didn’t know the menu well and because of that, couldn’t describe the dishes well at all nor did she know about the drink specials.
After my husband got his Pho and had been eating it for a bit, he noticed the spoon still had the sticker on the bottom which implied nothing had been washed prior to be served to us. All of our food tasted good but the service and lack of attention to detail really put a damper the evening.
Overall it was a disappointing experience but the food tasted good.
Really enjoyed our Vietnamese meal here. Menu had great options for appetizers, small plates to share and large plates for entrees - something for everybody and great to order several items to share. Waiter was attentive but not intrusive, decor and layout very tastefully done. No waiting. Perfect evening and I'd definitely go back again.
Saigon's website says that Monday special is half-priced bottles of wine. Saigon's front door says "MON-CLOSED". I shouldn't have been able to make a reservation if the restaurant is closed. They also shouldn't advertise a weekly special on the day they are closed.
Delicious and healthy. Generous portions.
Limited menu, however food we got was pretty good, would have preferred a more upbeat vibe personally. Wish I could’ve ordered off the lunch menu as it seemed to have more options.
My boyfriend and I went to Saigon Grill for Valentine's Day. They have a great special on wednesdays with a prix fixe menu and half off wine bottles, so this timed out very well for us. I would HIGHLY recommend the summer rolls and the miso salmon. Their salmon may be some of the best I've ever had in a restaurant, absolutely melts in your mouth. They serve it with rice and seasonal veggies, which ended up being zucchini and squash this time. I don't normally really like zucchini, but they cook it in a delicious sauce and the zucchini maintains its firmness.
Everything about the place was great. I would go back again and recommend to anyone
The food was great we both has an appetizer and an entree. Service was good but slow.
Service needs to get better, it was sporadic. Server not showing interest on the guest.
the hostess greeted us with a college student disdain. it took 15 minutes before anyone even came by our table to say hello or get a drink order, with only 5 tables in the house...
the food was uninspired, unimaginative, and bland. waiter was nice but overly apologetic when it really wasn’t busy. lots of staff doing not a lot...
The prix fix menu for Raleigh restaurant week was a terrific value. The food was tasty, portions were generous & the presentation was lovely. I would definitely return again.
Good Food, Good Portions, Good Vib, and in walking distance - we’ll be back.
Never felt rushed ... got to enjoy the evening out. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. The food was wonderful. The grilled seafood was just perfect! The summer roles were awesome. No complaints .... only accolades.
Great food and ambience; unique cocktails; friendly and efficient servers.Sophisticated Vietnamese cuisine.
All the flavors of the food tasted the same!! Awful!! Never going back!!
Food presentation was wonderful however the 3 small plates and 1 main we shared were not very flavorful or spicy
The service was great and the prices were very reasonable. The menu, however, was un-inspiring and much of the food we ate was overcooked.
Service was slow, food was overcooked
This place was fantastic. New restaurant in a very popular area of Raleigh. The food was outstanding. The owner of the restaurant came over to ask how everything was and he was very friendly. I have recommended this place to several people over the last few days. The also validate parking for free up to 3 hours!
Excellent experience, great location for lunch or dinner!
Top chef from previous award winning An Restaurant of Cary is preparing the dishes at Saigon! Conveniently located on Glenwood Ave. Park in garage right around back. The crab cake is out of this world and the mussels were a yummy surprise. Order any of the Clay pots...you can not go wrong. Red snapper and Swordfish both excellent too. Yummy Vietnamese rolls. Highly recommend!
Waiter was not experienced. He did not know menu well and how to explain ingredients and did not seem to have an interest. A very quiet Tuesday night...we were the only ones in the place.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The food was so fresh and delicious. The decor is amazing. We'll definitely be back soon!
