   We made our reservation using Open Table. When we got there, they said that "Open Table never works" and that they didn't have our reservation. "You should call us directly." Then they told us that we'd have to wait until a table opened up. They were very rude and acted like we'd done something wrong. Too bad. I love their food, but won't go to a place that doesn't want my business.

   After several visits to Saffron, we still find it the best and most reliable Indian restaurant in Norfolk. Very good food that fits anyone's taste.

   The husband and I were feeling adventurous and decided on a whim to go try Saffron. Never had Indian Before. Upon our arrival, we informed our waitress it was our first time ever, and asked for recommendations. From appetizers to dessert, she gave us an amazing experience full of great choices and recommendations. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place!! Love it!!

   We greatly enjoyed our dinner there. The food was different from other Indian fare. It was fresh and creatively prepared. Ambiance was minimal but food and service made up for it.

   Several vegan options, although they ran out of samosas a minute after we got there. Food was hot and tasty.

   This was our second visit; the first was a wonderful dinner that would have been hard to beat. In this case the restaurant appeared a bit too frenetic and short on wait staff. We must have waited nearly five minutes at the front desk to simply be recognized and seated...with a reservation and restaurant barely one-third full. Saffron remains a very good Indian restaurant (perhaps the best) in Norfolk. But they need to smooth out and stabilize their service capabilities.

   We ate at Saffron before a performance at Chrysler Hall which is around the corner. The lunch buffet was fabulous--great food and well-prepared! Try it!

   Saffron is an exciting addition to the vibrant Downtown Norfolk restaurant scene. The food preparation and seasoning were perfect. The wait staff is knowledgeable and efficient.

    but we enjoyed the dinner. the staff and service was extermely friendly and they gave us nice recommendations when we explained that we had not tried much Indian food before and that we were not into spicy food. Overall, the food was good and the service was great. I'm not likely to eat Indian food in the next few months, simply because it is not my preference, but I would like to go back to this place in the next year.
