Saffron nola, the Vilkhu family's first full time restaurant venture, stemming from their pop up restaurant of 6 years and their 26-year catering business. Chef Arvinder Vilkhu marries his Indian heritage with local and global flavors while using classical and modern techniques. Ashwin Vilkhu, GM and Bar director uses those same nuanced flavors and incorporates them into a thoughtful cocktail menu. Pairings were also taken into account when developing the wine menu, while paying very close attention to what varietals work best with South Asian food.
The super approachable menu is the Vilkhu family's communication of the evolution of Indian cuisine through New Orleans. Their overall goal is to provide quality food, superior service in a warm-hospitable environmen
Always exceptional service, food and atmosphere. Still my favorite restaurant in the city!
Authentic Indian food and service is outstanding .
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Saffron NOLA!
We were surprised at first at how loud it was in the restaurant and thought it might interfere with our enjoyment of our meal, but as soon as our cocktails arrived (New Kid on the Block is a MUST TRY!!!) we were distracted by the delicious flavors and forgot about the sound level. The chicken tikka masala and naan were tasty too! And our server and the rest of the wait staff were attentive, but didn't hover. We highly recommend Saffron NOLA!
Delicious food. Flavors so yummy. Service was excellent. Highly recommend and I will return!
Great food and impeccable service
Always delicious and they are very welcoming and gracious hosts.
Our dining experience was absolutely awesome. The oysters were to die for....everything else our party was superb...gumbo/shrimp small plates...and special for the day..yum... the day...desserts were not wonderful...no big loss at all...should have ordered another special drink from the bar.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful! We sat next to the kitchen, I love that it’s a huge window so we got to see everything that went into preparing our amazing meal. We had the garlic naan, a squash small plate (I can’t remember what it was called but it had pumpkin seeds, red onion and more on top of a yogurt) and we both had the seafood biriyani. Clams, mussels, shrimp and fish all perfectly cooked. It was heavenly!
Enjoyed the specialty drinks and food was awesome
ABSOLUTLEY OUTSTANDING. I was skeptical about going because I didn't think I liked Indian food. I was blown away by the food, service and ambiance of this amazing GEM in the Garden district. A MUST try when you are in NOLA. Saffron NOLA is a Indian fusion restaurant with a Cajun flair. It was amazing and I will definitely be back.
Really enjoyed dining at Saffron. Everything rocked!
Wow! I can’t believe we don’t come here more often.
Absolutely amazing in every category.
Can’t wait to return again soon.....!!!
Enjoyed the evening great food. A nice wine list Only negative, felt like they try to get out quickly
Had a great experience! Food and cocktails were delish!
Easily one of the best places to dine in New Orleans. If you’re coming for the first time, make sure to order the oysters and gumbo! Service is always 100%. Never fails for a great date night with friends and family! Saffron, you will always have my stomach, lol. Bon appétit mes amis!
No review needed. Just. Go. Have this just one night and worry about “traditional” southern food another. You won’t be sorry. Duck was sublime.
Look no further! This is my absolute fav spot in New Orleans. This Indian fusion spot with tastes of traditional New Orleans food is delicious. The Lasooni chicken is awesome appetizer. The lamb is flavorful. The biryani is divine. I love every single thing about this place including the sexy atmosphere and stellar service.
The meal was outstanding as usual. I enjoyed sitting and eating at the bar, and had a friend from out of town that loved it as well.
Service was impeccable and food is always outstanding. So much flavor and always fresh. There is not one dish on the menu that I have not liked. Lots of cocktails and wines to choose from as well.
Gumbo, oysters, spreads with roti, specials - they are all great, particularly if you ask for a bit of extra spice. A wonderful addition to our city’s offerings.
Lovely spirited owners and workers, it’s mainly a family run business, the concierge (whose not family lol), was respectfully friendly and apologized for our wait, we had a reservation but had to wait for about 20 minutes, the food was good, cocktails good and our waiter was also very good. The father owner and son ( both the chefs I believe) came out to make sure we were ok and enjoyed the food, which we did. All in all a good experience.
Excellent food, waiter was top notch! Will be back!
Incredibly delicious Indian food with a novella twist. Wonderfully considerate and fun bar and wait staff makes for extra fun. Highly recommend!
My date and I had a great time at Saffron for our Valentine’s date. This was our first time here and we were already feeling welcomed as we were greeted at the front desk. We ordered the half dozen oysters and roti sathi for starters and both were great in flavors. Our entrees were the chicken biriyani and goat masala. They both tasted amazing and I will note the biriyani was pretty spicy which we loved (caution for others). We also ordered the Jammin’ Jamun for dessert that was an excellent combination of doughnut and ice cream. I docked a star off of ambiance because the noise level was pretty high and the table settings were somewhat close to one another so it was a bit difficult to talk my date. Overall, I would recommend this place and will likely come back to try their other menu items including the butternut squash (which they ran out of that night)!
It's a nice place. Food is delightful. Service is top notch.
Valentine’s Day dinner! Our amazing waiter guided us with our dinner choices since it was our first time dining at Saffron. All of the food was amazing! Each dish had a unique taste— wonderfully seasoned and tremendous flavor! We had a fantastic dining experience.
One of the true gems of culinary New Orleans. I think it is one of the top ten restaurants in the world!
Truly an exceptional place to taste great food and and receive amazing service. Just be open to new flavors.
Food was amazing. Service was outstanding. One of our favorite new places to eat.
Some of the best Indian food we've ever eaten! Consistently excellent.
Excellent food. Service was great but dropped off a little at the end.
Exceeded expectations in every way.
Wonderful food, service and ambiance. Just a fabulous restaurant all around. Can’t wait to go back!
As usual, the food at the restaurant was exceptional. We went on a Wednesday and on Wednesday nights, they have a whole fish special. We had that which was ample for 3 people--it was a red fish done with Amritsari spices. Excellent and a tremendous value; we also had their butternut appetiser, their salad and their gulab jamun
Saffron is hands down my favorite place in the city. Beautiful food, family and tradition are what you get here. I can’t say enough about them.
Very nice with menu options that are not common. Staff were helpful, polite and quick.
Excellent service and amazing food! ♥️
We had an amazing dinner at Saffron! The food was exquisite, the service was wonderful -- we had much menu help from Cheyenne, our server, who took a lot of time with us and the owner/chef who visited our table to talk about preparation techniques. The restaurant itself is a cozy little jewel box -- pictures online don't do it justice. I had fun watching the bartender make little works of art and be so into his craft, it was just fun to see. We don't get to explore new restaurants in New Orleans enough, as we don't live there, but we will add Saffron to our list of favorites and come back to visit. The oyster bed roast appetizer was made with such care -- we have had the same dish at many restaurants but this far exceeded all in quality. Another appetizer we had the pleasure of tasting was the Bombay shrimp. Then for our entree the whole red snapper special and it was just delicious! Dessert and coffee -- the doughnuts and the chocolate mousse and we were in heaven. Highly recommend Saffron!
Great service as usual. The chefs special was a delectable fish beautifully prepared. The oysters were fabulous as well. The ambiance was laid back and easy. Love this place!
