Situated on the crowning corner of London’s St James, Sael -named after the Old English word that signifies season, time and occasion- is Jason Atherton’s homage to the diverse heritage of the British Isles, blending traditional flavours with global influences.

Open from breakfast through to dinner and late-night drinks, Sael offers a menu rooted in traditional recipes, catering to a wide range of tastes. The experience was pretty much as described on the reviews. Good location, good atmosphere, Service was very attentive at the beginning and sort of drifted off as it got more busy. I thought the prices were quite high for the size of the portions and the type of food being served.

Superb experience and food. Best meal i've had in the UK for over a decade (Waterside 2012/Northcote 2013). The service staff are excellent, thier advice on the offerings spot-on, no pressure to over indulge or oover spend. We will be returning.

Great service, beautiful dining room and spectacular food tucked away just 2 minutes from Piccadilly Circus. A great place to meet a group of friends for lunch or dinner and then linger on sampling their original cocktails or very well set out wine list.

Start to finish the meal was fantastic. I wanted everything off the menu and everything we did eat was delicious. Special shout out to the marmite custard tarts and Guinness espresso martinis! Not a cheap meal by any stretch but price felt very fair for the quality of food and experience. £270 for two including wine, two cocktails each and service charge

Super tasty food with good service from the restaurant manager. We had booked the pre-theatre meal for a quick bite before a west end play. The manager on the day was able to quickly resolve front-of-house confusion on timing for pre-theatre menu, our booking time etc. We ended up opting for a la carte to have suitable vegetarian options which were very well made and tasty. Quick service meant we were in good time for our play. Good location, seating and food options be it in a slightly pricey venue.

Got there at 6pm on a week day so wasn’t too busy and the service from the team was very attentive. Food was on a different level. My ceaser salad was an explosion of taste it was like nothing I’ve had before. For the main I went for a ribeye, OMG, best flavour texture sensation for a steak! I would have been happy with just the steak for meal but ordered the mash and chicken gravy, even the piece of chicken that came with the gravy was second to none and the mash was so buttery. Great meal, obviously not the cheapest, but great value for money for the service and food.

Excellent British food , quality and creative. The location is perfect and great atmosphere. The only negative thing, music too loud and not corresponding to the quality of food.

We are now regulars because the food, service & wine menu are excellent. The bonus is using the "Apples & Pears" bar upstairs for cosey drinks.

The staff - every single one - very friendly and upbeat, We really appreciate that its a very important part of the experience for us. We had a mixture (7) items from the starters / small plates menu, so almost like creating our own tasting menu. The Wagyu skewers, Scallops and tomato in vinegar were absolutely astonishing dishes. We liked the tomato so much we ordered it twice. Other 4 dishes we had were fine, but not on the same level as the 3 mentioned. Very nice atmosphere, and the wine we had (from the under £50 section) was superb, So - all in all - highly recommended

I was really looking forward to eating at this new Jason Atherton enterprise. The three-course lunchtime menu is good value for money in this day and age although the choice is quite limited. For example a choice of two desserts, one of which was missing the key ingredient. On pointing this out, no apology offered. Would I go again? Probably not.
