Rye - Leawood
The bar staff greeted us as we were waiting for our table. They were so nice and the drinks were good. Then a kind of rude hostess told us we needed to tab out our bar tab and be seated. Again the bartender was super great. Our waitress was not attentive and barely came over to our table and I would not call her friendly. The salads could really use a makeover. We all got different salads and all were bland. However our main dishes were excellent. Dessert was just ok.
Great food but a la carte makes it pricey.
We had the tomahawk chop ribeye and it was an amazingingly delicious steak. So buttery and the mashed potatoes were so savory also. The caesar salad was awesome as a starter. Then we had the Guinness ice cream cake that was sinfully good. We enjoyed it all very much and Samantha was a great server.
Maybe I had a bad meal. Told the waiter 3 items and he suggested spicy chicken. The chicken had no spice. The breading fell off and the chicken squirted out of the bun. Had to cut into pieces to eat. My co-workers had the shrimp and grits, and a cheeseburger, and they both liked it. Maybe I just choose poorly.
Rye is our favorite dining experience in Kansas City !! Perfect ambiance, food and service.
Delicious, creative, locally sourced food, well-stocked bar, fine wine list and graciously accepts reservations.
Holly at Leawood Rye was great! So attentive during our meal and gave great service. Shrimp and Grits were delicious! 10/10 would recommend!
Nathan was awesome, as usual. We had gizzards and deviled eggs, hangar steaks and Brussels plus baked potato. Food and service were great. We took some leftovers home and wish they would’ve thrown in the sauces, but otherwise it was perfect!
Valentine’s Day- I think they were too busy to handle all the business. The steaks were way over done and the rest of the food was just okay. Not our typical J. Gilbert’s experience.
Food was amazing!!
Steak Night on Mondays is always a favorite...such a great value. Delicious food.
Great breakfast/brunch options, lunch more limited but every that was ordered came out tastey, and timely.
Great food as always. Really like the bar staff.
We've always had very good service in our past visits but last Saturday, we were sat in the back dining room and it was subpar. I made a reservation a week in advance and didn't like being in the dark, weird back dining room. Our waitress was nice, but didn't introduce herself, didn't talk about the specials and didn't ever promptly do anything...we had to ask for refills, ask for dessert, etc. When you visit a restaurant and spend $200 on one meal, it should come with stellar service... every time.
Excellent service and food. Waiter did a great job of pacing the meal. Attentive but did not rush. Gave excellent recommendations. Loved the ambiance.
I've never had a meal at Rye that was less than delicious. Service is always good too. Great location and ambiance, especially in the warmer months when the patio is open. My only reservation is the cost to dine/drink there. Two drinks, two entree's, shared appetizer and dessert and the bill (with tip) was $148--pretty steep.
First time for brunch and loved it. My treat for my wife's birthday.
I love Rye. The service is great, food is unique and delicious and the lemon meringue pie is the best in the world. It's also an easy place to chat with friends--not too loud, but not too quiet either. Great ambiance. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
We had a very nice birthday brunch.
Food was perfect
Aubrey is a very good server and has great energy .
Thanks Aubrey!!
We will definitely be back and remind friends to try your place as well.
Best livers and gizzards I’ve had in KC; tender and fresh! Dixie pie with real whipped cream is the perfect ending!
Always great
good comfort food with variety. wait staff friendly and attentive. we stayed to talk with no rush or urgency to leave. My associates who had never eaten there enjoyed their meals. Different twists to conventional presentation of some meals and sandwiches.
Bar was busy but 3-4 empty tables in front where we were seated at 7:30 on a Saturday night. Pleasant server but very slow service. Double cut pork chop served undercooked. Mashed potatoes? More like puréed potatoes.
Other than noise level everything was great. Food is very tasting.
Waiter was attentive and food was excellent!
The food just wasn’t seasoned very well.
We always enjoy the food and drinks at Rye. Our table was at the far end along the bar and several patrons were just hanging out right next to our table. The bar area is loud enough without people talking right next to us.
Food is always great. Good came out fast. Server however was absent for quite a while in the beginning. We had 2 people with us that had not been and saying “everything here is good “ was not that helpful. We were able to highlight items on the menu. But always wonderful food.
First time visiting! Everything was great!
It was perfect. I really wanted a bake potato, but I promised my trainer I would get veggies instead. We split the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. Hate to say, I didn’t miss the baked potato. The veggies were fabulous and seasoned perfectly.
I love steak night, the best value going at one of my very favorite restaurants.
Never disappoints. The food is always yummy and I never tired of the selection. I love it every time and we are regulars.
I loved the eggs benedict and Mimosa. The fried hash brown cube was sinful and crispy. A great place for fried chicken as well. I'll be back. Comfort food elevated!
Best fried chicken in town! OHHHH MY! Do not skip the cinnamon rolls!! Ta Die!!!!
Sat at our table for 10 minutes before server acknowledged our group. Then waited another 15 minutes before getting our cocktails. Food was okay but service was very poor.
Overall it was a good experience. I think the dishes were a little on the pricey side for what you get. The burger was great and had wonderfully flavor. Cocktails rocked, de la Louisiana one is top notch.
Rye always delivers when it comes to a great meal with amazing service. Don't miss the chicken and dumplings for lunch. The service is outstanding.
Our waitress was not the friendliest and the hostess was not too friendly either. My friends and family love Rye and we were a little disappointed in the service this time. It was very unexpected because every other time we have been we have had fantastic service.
We were seated in the north room, which was drafty. The server Josh was great! Food was hot, beautifully presented, and delicious. We were there for restaurant week and will go again for dinner very soon.
I went for brunch and thought my food was good and that the menu had a nice selection to choose from. The food was fairly reasonably priced, maybe a little on the high side, but very appetizing nonetheless! The breakfast beverages were very expensive in my opinion. Mimosas, bloody Mary’s, etc were nearly $10 for one glass. I typically find that comparable restaurants will do bottomless mimosas for $10-$15.
Great brunch, excellent service, nice atmosphere
