We thought the menue was limited compared to other Roy's restaurants that we have enjoyed in the past.
No rolls or any type of bread available. The bar area is not open and there are very few tables. No lighting over some of the tables further from the windows. No ambience at all. They did have the wonderful chocolate soufflé once the waiter checked to see if the kitchen had turned the oven on. That seemed strange to me for a restaurant to have to see if the oven was on. Our waiter was helpful and cheerful.
I walked in and felt I was at Denny’s. Not a great start. I wondered why I’d made reservations. The server was very good. Obviously he knew the menu and restaurant well. The food was superb. Now I see why it gets the good reviews. The decor is plain. Although, the view across the golf course is nice.
Great food, drinks, and view. Perfect for a meal after golf. We will be back
Great service, food and drinks!
There was a group of golfers that were rather loud. It was more pleasant after they left.
Also, I ordered a salad without tomatoes. When I received my entree it was topped with chopped tomatoes. Had that been listed on the menu, I could have asked that they be left off.
Everything else was quite good, especially the calamari.
Great service !
Golf course view.
A little pricey but decent
Excellent food and service, casual ambiance. Quite expensive, including wine list. Giovanni was a very accomplished waiter.
I always love Roy’s. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that they had removed my favorite dish (fish duo) from the menu. I understand that COVID has made restaurants reduce menu choices but the duo was my favorite and seemed to be popular. Otherwise, great food, great service and a bonus, with COVID spacing, the dining room was noticeably quieter than usual.
We made reservations for happy hour. Our waiter brought us lunch menus. When we and the couple next to us inquired about it, he said it was at 3pm. Their website says 2-3pm, so he said he would check with management. 10-15 min later he brought us happy hour menus, which said 2-3pm $5 bites. So, that was a little strange.
We tried the baby back pork ribs, calamari, ahi, fries and crispy chicken spring rolls. We also shared a misoyaki butterfish. It was all delicious! There was a nice view of the golf course and we would come back!
Delicious food, drinks, dessert!
Roy's is always great and our server, Junior, was amazing! Anytime I come to Maui, Roy's is a most!
Beautiful comfortable setting with delicious food
Misoyaki Butterfish and Ribeye were both fantastic, perfectly prepared with beautiful presentation. Chocolate soufflé was a perfect rich, decadent finish to an outstanding meal. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive!
We have visited many of the Roy’s locations on the West coast and Hawaii and this one must be the forgotten brother. The building was run down, the view was blah. If you have to pay their prices I would expect a nice place to be in. Not this one.
Felt like eating at a golf course clubhouse snack bar.
Not what I expected after an experience in Oahu
Food was excellent. Cocktails could have been better.
Roy's at Kaanapali never disappoints. You're virtually guaranteed to enjoy it. Just chill and soak in the whole experience...
Great food and helpful servers when trying to decide what to order
My husband & I went to Roy’s early in the evening. Everything was fine. I had the butterfish. He had the ahi & local fish plate. Both were good but neither were exceptional. I remember the butterfish as being amazing. This one was fine. Perhaps it was the very early hour and once they get going thing will be great. The location in Kaanapali is overlooking a small golf course. Roy’s is a very family friendly place for a good meal at a high price$$$.
Great service and the waiter had excellent knowledge of the menu and gave wonderful suggestions.
Great time, Josh is very professional and knowledgeable! Amazing birthday in Maui! Thank you
Brought a friend for dinner. All of us had great food and the service was equally great.
Food was terrific as always. We enjoyed our stay very much. They did the best they could keeping everyone safe.
Food was excellent. The service was good. Hostess and greeting staff acted put off to do their jobs.
Service and Food very good. Prices my only complaint Maui prices very high but Roy’s prices even higher than Maui normally high prices.
Great food and desserts - good wine list - very consistent quality from visit to visit.
Mark was a great server! The blackened ahi is my absolute favorite.
The food was delicious! Service was excellent! Ambience perfect for a quiet, romantic evening!
No ambiance whatsoever. I could have been at a Denny’s. Service was very slow. Food was tasty but not worth the price. For $40+ lunch entree, we expected a wow presentation. All the negatives detracted from our enjoyment of the food.
Roy’s in Kaanapali needs major renovation and updating. It has a distinctive musty odor when you walk in the door. The food and service was good, but ambiance very lacking. Too many good restaurants in the area with more to offer. We won’t be going back unless significant improvements are made, even perhaps a new location.
A definite must in Maui! Exquisite food with a great view of the golf course
We celebrated our anniversary with an early dinner. We were pleasantly surprised by the pre-fixe three course dinner from 4-5pm. We took advantage of this offer and we were not disappointed. The first course was a crispy calamari Cesar salad, followed by a combination of grilled salmon and braised short rib served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes, and topped off with a chocolate soufflé. Each course was crafted to perfection and tasted great. The service was excellent. They were kind enough to give us yet another dessert in honor of our anniversary. We live in Lahaina and we have not been going out this past year. However, we will definitely be returning to Roy’s.
Christine was phenomenal at her job! The drinks and food are exquisite but the staff is what blows us away every time.
I am so glad that Roy's is open for lunch (at least at this time); it is much easier to get reservations for lunch than for dinner. The menu contains at least two of the "classic" Roy's dishes from the dinner menu, plus a sandwich, fish and chips, and a few other tempting dishes. The luncheon wine list is small but nicely curated, including several Roy's-branded vintages (I highly recommend the Chardonnay). As I've come to expect from a Roy's, the food quality is very high and the presentation is delightful.
Fabulous from beginning to end.
We had a wonderful lunch at Roy’s. The service was excellent and the food delicious. An enjoyable time at Roy’s.
The fried chicken was just ok. Service was negligible at good. Wine was excellent.
Seared ahi tuna was great! It was the best quality tuna we have ever eaten! Chocolate soufle was awesome as well.
Excellent food and service. High quality meat and seafood prepared exceptionally well. Great sauces.
