Roy's - Kaanapali
We weren’t overly hungry so decided to share a few small plates - I think they call them pupus. We had the ribs which were very good - tender with a lovely glaze. We also had the butterfish which was exceptional. Definitely a dish I’d have next visit. The only mediocre dish we had was the sushi. It was okay but nothing special. Our waiter was great and we liked the upbeat feel to the restaurant.
Amazing food and service! We were first seated by a loud party and waitress requested we be moved without us even asking. Seafood was fabulous, butterfish was great and desserts were also amazing. We are planning on going back before we leave the island.
Great dining experience as usual. Dinner was great but I really come for the.lava cake it can’t be beat!
Nice location in Maui. Beautiful views of the golf course. The server was very attentive. The meal, as always, outstanding. Our biggest complaint was the noise level. It was very loud and difficult to hear each other talk. We'd come back though.
We had the unexpected misfortune of returning for duck as this is my husband’s favorite. We had been there the week previously and he loved it. The entree came to the table with the leg black and dry despite being ordered medium rare. We sent it back to chef and they stated that is how it is. This is not how it was the week previous we stayed. The manager did admit that they changed the recipe that week and we were not the first complaint. She was quick to comp the meal that was only half edible. We would like to know if they return to the previous recipe or will duck no longer be a drawing card for Roy’s. The chocolate soufflé was spectacular as always.
Roy’s is always amazing! Such great service. Perfect place to celebrate anniversary with our family.
Fantastic meal. The best dragon roll I’ve ever had! Great tasting martini. The soufflé was phenomenal. Such a great time in general.
All of the fish dishes are always excellent. Check out the daily specials for fish. Always great.
Lovely setting and superb food and service.
Appetizer sampler was delicious, service excellent
I always have to visit Roys whenever I am on any of the island’s and I’m never disappointed ❤️
It was Valentine’s DaySo we were not surrised to be seated 15 or so minutes late way back in a corner. Except for the drinks the food took too long to get to us and when it came ut was warm and the romaine was not cold.
We come to Roy’s on all our returns to Maui and usually sit at the bar and eat well prepared, hot, delicious food.
Back to the bar.
Excellent, food service and ambiance. Our high top seating was not ready so they gave USA comfortable booth instead. Ahi cooked perfectly, wife’s Ono delicious, and the chocolate soufflé done to its usual guilty indulgence standard.
Had Valentine's Day dinner here. We were sat at our table about 25 minutes later than our scheduled reservation. Other than that our dinner went smoothly and we were well taken care of.
Just AWFUL! We were seated 30 minutes past our reservation time, not the worst but definitely not the best. Service was nonsense it took over 30 minutes to receive a coke and a hour and a half to get Luke warm BURNED food. Some plastic was left on the meat when it was placed on the grill. The charred meat was awful and the bit of plastic was the end. Used to really look forward to this place. What happened? Find somewhere else for your nice meal.
Always a treat to visit Roy's. Food is wonderful ans service is great.
Great service and food.
Our waiter was OUTSTANDING!!
Excellent food from dragon roll appetizers to entrees (seafood, chicken and ahi tuna) to the chocolate soufflé dessert. Great service and wonderful drinks.
Wonderful service and excellent food!!
Birthday dinner for my wife at one of her favorite places. Did not disappoint. Love the edamame at the beginning of the evening. Drinks were good...strong enough but not overwhelming. Risotto crusted fresh catch was excellent. Pineapple upside down cake and ice cream for dessert...always great!
In our opinion you can’t go wrong with Roy’s and this was no exception. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff very attentive but unobtrusive. We ordered a few different things and loved them all! The standout was the Misoyaki Butterfish. It never disappoints! Just melts in your mouth. Amazing. Also, the Mongolian Duck was fabulous. Don’t come to the islands without visiting Roy’s, you will regret it!
Staff was WONDERFUL. Food was way overpriced and frankly, pretty marginal. Signage is a big problem as it is in a golf club and depending where you enter, the sign is way too small. Actually, disappointing place.
Our evening started off on a high note when the hostess showed us to a table by the windows. Although the shades were still down, they were raised as the sun set to a great view of the Kaanapali courses. Dinner followed with a BLT salad, which was delicious and more than large enough to share. I had the fried whole Snapper and she had the duck; both delicious. Service was attentive and we found that one of the servers had worked in two restaurants in our home town, Santa Barbara. The place is pricey, yes, but the experience is well worth it.
You know, this is not a bad place. But it doesn’t live up to its hype - or the price they charge (we live in NYC, so high prices don’t phase us, but really, you’ve got to earn it)
A couple of points.... my ( very good) mahi came with asparagus that I would never buy in the market since they were not the tender thin ones, but big, thick tough ones that were then barely cooked. The result was inedible.
As far as ambiance goes, it was a lovely restaurant, with big plate glass windows overlooking the intersection of the main highway and the entrance road to the development.
Protein in King Salmon and Duck 2 Ways were well cooked, but not a fan of the sides and sauces, which like the plating-style, restaurant decor, and service all seemed dated (stuck in the 90s)? Most clientele seemed to be in their golden years, so it probably was just not right for us.
I wanted to like it, but wish we went somewhere else. Easy parking at least.
Very good food. The ambience could be much better for the price tag.
Roy's all over Hawaii is truly outstanding! We travel a lot especially to Hawaii (2-3 times a year) and look forward to eating at Roy's more then any other restaurant. Every single thing about it from the locations, to the staff to the decor to the food is a 10 of a 10 EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Make it a point to treat yourself anytime you are in Hawaii!
Delicious food! Nice atmosphere—all at once, happening, elegant and gourmet.
Wonderful food and service. Noisy, so hard to have conversations. Pricey, but food is great.
Roy's was a great meal. My wife and I enjoyed the evening and Dennis was very helpful. We will be back!
The waiters were very attentive. Service great. Loved the edamame. Food very well prepared and served.
Very nice in terms off food and service. It was a bit noisy. The lack of sound absorption materials creats this.
Food is always delicious at the Roys in Ka’anapali. Please do not skip the chocolate soufflé.
Roy's is OK. The food is good but little different from so many of the other upscale places. Roy Yamaguchi may not be Peter Merriman, but he must be a clone. But four of us had a pleasant dinner and the staff was very helpful in finding us a quiet table.
We very much enjoyed the entire experience, food, cocktails and wine were all excellent and service and ambience were great. Highly recommend
My wife and I had the prefixed menus of egg rolls, short ribs, and lava cake. The appetizer and dessert were excellent but the short rib just seemed a little off. We've had it before. Service was just ok. We've been to Roy's in Big Island, Pebble Beach, and San Francisco before and felt they were better.
We had been in Maui for a month and had gone to breakfast at Roy’s before. The food quality is good and we love it there.
The young woman that waited on us though really needs training. She was really not slow but didn’t know how to make her work easier and the customer happy.
We got there and she only had one other table. To get coffee was horrible.
Anyway in my eyes she just needs to be trained on how to serve the guests .
She was sweet
Had an excellent dinner here with family. Both food and service was excellent. One of the most pleasant meals we've had there. Highly recommended.
Great overall. A little different food experience from other Roy’s that we have eaten at.
